The location is perfect- it's a short walk to all the stuff in town, without the noise. Easy to bike to/from, especially to Playa Cocles. The room looks exactly like the photos, it was very was clean, and had all you would need for a short stay. Annabelle is SO lovely- she really makes folks feel welcome, especially solo travellers. She also made some great puerto viejo suggestions and has friends that run eco friendly / local owned tours or other local activities. She has a lot of great plans to make the hotel even better than it already is so I can't wait to come back and see it all once it is completed, ie a new kitchen, the yoga spot, other eco projects. I think whoever will choose this accommodation will deffinitely not regret! On your arrival you will meet one wonderful carying owner of paradise with smile on her face. That place is piece of haven on earth trust me! We had our dome perfectly clean and beach is right on your doorstep. If you feel like you want to just chill, relax and enjoy paradise in Costa Rica that is the place! And for her breakfast? Amazing coffe with caccao and choice of continental or costarican food. The ocean is actually quit rough.
The ocean is actually quit rough. You can't let your kids unseen be in the ocean (you can do this never of course, but it was wild). There were lifequards, that gave a safe feeling, but still.. I think Puerto Viejo is very expensive when you buy grocery or souvenirs. That's not nice. And some place were very dirty on the streets. To much trash. We were not originally going to stop in Tortuguero during...
We were not originally going to stop in Tortuguero during our short stay in CR, but are so glad we did! It's not easy to get there, but the journey was most definitely part of the fun! We took a private boat from La Pavona (which cost the same as the public boat but offered to take us all the way to our hotel instead of the main Tortuguero dock). On our first night, we booked a turtle nesting tour from 8-10 pm and watched a momma turtle lay her eggs on the beach. It was incredible. We chose to eat at our hotel across the water instead of in town. It was easier that way. Besides the turtle nesting tour, we also took a hike in the national park with our children. There are other tours we could have taken, but we were satisfied with just watching the wildlife (monkeys) play at our hotel pool. On our boat trip back to La Pavona was memorable -- in that we saw many crocodiles along the river.Guest review byAllison DUnited States - 2.0

Costa Rica, for those who prefer nature as a concept not to be endured too long, and with minimal discomfort. I can't speak to other parts of the country but the Caribbean coast is not a place for real travelers. Go to Honduras or Guatemala instead.Guest review bySeanCanada - 10.0

Only warm hearts and sincere smiles give one the feeling of friendship and every where i went was fun. I stopped at a small restaurant and the waitress being very young and pretty spoke no English which is fine but when looking at the menu i ask if she listed among the items. Only joking in a friendly manor A man who spoke English ask what i was saying and i told him at 82 most don't expect such language. He heard what i ask and went into laughter and smiles telling all what i said. They took it the way i meant it not like i was trying to be rude. Our hotel, Arrecife Punta Uva, was right on the beach and very conveniently close to a restaurant. There were plenty of seating areas and hammocks provided, which made it easy to relax. One of the highlights was a beautiful viewpoint on a cliff about a 10-minute walk away—definitely worth the short hike. We loved our beach cabin stay in Manzanillo! We ate meals on the front porch surrounded by the beautiful garden, listening to the rolling waves of the ocean. The beach is just across the street, and the nature reserve is a five minute walk away at the end of the street. There is also a good Caribbean restaurant at the other end of the street, also just a five minute walk from the cabin. Our host was very friendly and attentive. Puerto Viejo was a cute little beach front town with lots of life and friendly people. It’s not as “touristy” as I had read about. We felt safe walking around town and loved having so many transportation options. The tuks were a fun option to get around. There were several great restaurants within walking distance. Both Playa Negra and Punta Uva were beautiful beaches. Our visit was during the rainy season but it wasn’t horrible. It would rain a bit but the clear up.
