A really friendly colleague at reception. The room was large and modern and stylishly furnished, very large TV. It is really recommended to take the rooms with a balcony. The breakfast next door in the small restaurant was perfect. You can also have breakfast or dinner in the Stachus basement - there are so many options at the pool position right on Stachus.

FAQs about hotels in Bavaria

Romantic Region of Castles and Christmas Markets

Home to some of the world’s oldest and finest Christmas markets, Bavaria is the German region touching Lake Constance and the Austrian and Czech borders. Although evoking images of beer, lederhosen and fairytale castles, it’s much, much more than that.

Famous for Oktoberfest, its capital Munich has impressive architecture lining squares and parks, and several luxury Bavaria hotels on Booking.com. To the north, Nuremberg is a city of 2 halves: a picture-postcard old town and grandiose Nazi rally grounds housing a sensitive museum.

With a stately palace and gardens, Erlangen is on the Regnitz River which continues to beautiful Bamberg where one of the half-timbered buildings hovers above the flowing river. Bayreuth is well-known for opera performances of Wagner, a former resident, while Regensburg on the Danube River has a beautiful, medieval centre.

Unsurprisingly, most romantic Bavaria hotels are on the Romantic Road between Würzburg, with its hilltop castle, and Füssen in the foothills of the Alps. Neighbouring Hohenschwangau has 2 royal castles, one of which – Neuschwanstein – inspired the Disney castle. Oberammergau has frescoed façades and hosts a 10-yearly Passion Play, and nearby Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a top German ski resort, with Tyrolean-style houses overlooked by Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain.

Back on the Romantic Road, Augsburg has colourful buildings, and Rothenburg ob der Tauber is like stepping back in time.

    Great tradition of Oktoberfest.

Great tradition of Oktoberfest. The traditional beer tents were lovely and the whole festival atmosphere was a wonderful experience. Marienplatz and the Residence were beautiful historic places. Lots of historic buildings and churches to see. The English Garden was a good a long walk and the Deutches Museum was very interesting - thought-provoking exhibits, great modern feel, within an old building.

Center of Nuremberg was almost leveled in WW2.

Center of Nuremberg was almost leveled in WW2. The postwar reconstruction of buildings mostly created replacement buildings in a bland style, though the street layout remained. The churches were very well restored. I liked nearby Bamberg better on a day trip from Nuremberg. (45 minutes by Regional Bahn train.)

Lovely city to have a stop during my drive to a business meeting. City has nice architecture and the Donau river gives the extra touch. Enough possibilities to have a nice lunch and diner. Can recommend Burgerheart when you want some nice American experience. Loved the peer-melon limonade. Went now two year in a row to Regensburg and can't wait for the next one.

A very interesting historical city, much of which has been lovingly restored after devastating air raid damage in WW2. The Residence I(and its gardens) are well worth visiting, being a smaller scale version of the palaces at Versailles and Charlottenburg. Don't miss the Hofkirche while there. The Marienberg Fortress on the hill overlooking the town offers fantastic views, but is currently being extensively refurbished. It is still worth visiting though. And if you like visiting churches, you will not be disappointed here. Fantastic cuisine and wine available here. we can heartily recommend Aifach Resins and zum Stachel, the former for more contemporary cuisine and the latter for more traditional fare in traditional and historic surroundings.

Augsburg is a very charming city with lots of points of interest and restaurants and caffee's. Don't miss the Rathausplatz, Fuggerei, Maximilianstrasse, Koenigplatz and old city walls. For good Bavarian/Schwaebische Food I recommend Restaurant unter dem Bogen on Annastrasse. People watching and relaxing Caffee Eber am Rathausplatx. Take one of the city tours, organized by the city and raasonably priced. Augsburgs Strassenbahn System makes it easy to get around, buy a "Streifenkarte". Walk around in the Altstadt and around the "Kahnfahrt" and the old city walls- it is just beautiful.

    We LOVED Fűssen!

We LOVED Fűssen! The old charm feel, the energetic cafe night time vibe, the many walking/biking paths to explore the area and the quaint neighborhood charm made it a wonderful destination. I wish we stayed longer. We ate at Ludwig’s and sat in the Swan seats. The food was delicious and the inside decor was charming. We also rode our bikes to Neuschwanstein Castle which was 15-20 minutes away. There were so many bike paths throughout the area that we were able to visit many places on bikes.

Beautiful village, access to Zugspitze, Partnach Gorge, great olde world charm, stunning views, fresh air, great place to holiday and relax. Free buses to get around, great Asian food just around the corner, probably 100 metres and reasonably priced. I visited Rothenburg 14 years ago & couldn't wait to get back. This time I brought my 2 adult children who just loved it & will be bringing their children one day. Very sorry to hear Anneliese Frieze had passed away. Lovely lady. We walked the whole town, did lots of fantastic shopping. My son & daughter climbed the town hall tower & did the Night watchman walk, which they thoroughly enjoyed. We had our dinners at our hotel, Gasthaus Alter Keller & loved the food & great staff. Our hotel was only 200m to the main square - fantastic position.
