FAQs about hotels in Black Forest
A Forest Full of Surprises
A mysterious mountain range in south-western Germany, the Black Forest evokes images of wild, dark forests and quiet paths with hidden castles and ruins. In fact, this is a very vibrant region with popular wine routes, roaring waterfalls and charming little towns, always full of things to see and do.
However, the biggest kick comes from the Black Forest’s nature and landscape -of its densely forested mountain peaks, Feldberg is the highest at 1,493 metres and the birthplace of the Danube River. Follow its hiking footpaths to see the Titisee and Schluchsee lakes, the most famous German waterfalls of the Triberg and the popular River Wutach gorge.
The region is famous for its crafts, particularly the precision clock making and wood crafting, both coming together in the art of cuckoo clocks, symbolic of the entire Black Forest. There are not as famous as a certain delicacy though: the renowned Black Forest cake, a delicious combination of chocolate, sour cherries, Kirch brandy and cream. An absolute must-try!
From Freiburg to Baden-Baden, from Freudenstadt to Gengenbach, and from 5 star hotels to charming guest houses built in the local style, Booking.com has plenty accommodation on offer for your Black Forest trip.

Lovely city with a nice buzz to it.
Lovely city with a nice buzz to it. Good for a dedicated few days or as a base for Black Forest trips. No shortage of varying restaurants. We used the regular and reliable rail system to get around but I would recommend having your own transport if you are wanting to get off track in the Black Forest.Guest review bytimj63United Kingdom - 8.0

Baden-Baden is worth a couple of days if you want to see the original European spa town, on the edge of the Black Forest. Two thermal spas dominate the town. There are good rail connections: we came from Munich with one brief change for a 3-hour total journey; there is a 1.5 hour direct train to the Frankfurt airport, which makes Baden-Baden convenient for those using Condor or other Frankfurt-based airlines.Guest review byJohnUnited States - 10.0

Wonderful German town, at the border of France and Switzerland. We could find most everything we needed nearby. Most people were friendly. Dinner at Paparazzi was good. Tram stop across the street was great for direct access to Basel. Ticket machine was right there as wellGuest review byBobby - 8.0

Ringsheim is a lovely village and near to transport such as the train station. Sadly the covid lockdown as caused quite a lot of the restaurants and bars to close, There is an Italian pizzaria and a bakers shop that are well worth a visit.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Titisee-Neustadt is a charming town with a lot to offer.
Titisee-Neustadt is a charming town with a lot to offer. The lake is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing stroll, and the town center is full of character, with lovely little shops, cozy restaurants, and plenty of ice cream stands. It’s a great place for a peaceful getaway and to enjoy the Black Forest atmosphere. However, one unpleasant experience during our visit was dinner at Musse am See – Bio Asia Dining. We were a group of 3 adults and 4 children, and we ordered at 8:20 PM. The service was extremely slow and disorganized: The first dish (for one child) arrived at 8:50 PM. Two more dishes (for adults) came at 9:05 PM. The remaining four meals (for one adult and three children) didn’t arrive until 9:20 PM. A simple Sprite took over 15 minutes, and only arrived after my friend went to the counter to ask about it. The staff seemed unaware until she pointed it out. To make matters worse, the waiter spilled the Sprite onto one of the children’s meals, which completely ruined it—and the child didn’t eat after that. I love Asian food, but this was by far the most disappointing experience I’ve had at an Asian restaurant. It was a real letdown in an otherwise lovely town.Guest review byDonnahSwitzerland - 10.0

We had a wonderful time exploring Germany's largest town square, with its arcades, shops and other attractions. There were also open-air concerts taking place in the Kurhaus event location. It's also a great base to explore the southern Black Forest from. Freudenstadt will also be co-hosting the state garden show in 2025 (together with the neighbouring town of Baiersbronn) and so we plan to return!Guest review byKenGermany - 10.0
We used Offenburg as a hub for exploring the Black Forest.
We used Offenburg as a hub for exploring the Black Forest. We visited the Open Air Museum, Hohenzollern Castle, an old town with a clock shop, and took a hike in the woods. We couldn't do everything we wanted to, but Offenburg made a really great "base of operations."Guest review byBellrobin - 10.0

Ideally situated in the heart of the Black Forest. Wonderful walking country. Bairsbronn has two 3 Michelin starred restaurants and one 2 star restaurant, although we didn't eat at any of them. Plenty of other, lesser restaurants.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 6.0
