- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 549 reviewsI recently had the pleasure of staying at Weingut Magdalenenhof and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The rooms were charmingly decorated and exuded a cozy atmosphere. The working facilities were top-notch, allowing me to stay productive during my visit. Upon entering, the wine and liquor shop immediately caught my attention with its diverse selection and fun atmosphere. The restaurant was wonderfully cozy, and the food was absolutely delicious, exceeding my expectations at every meal. And of course, the highlight of my stay was the breathtaking view of the vineyard, which provided a serene backdrop to my time at the Weingut. Overall, I highly recommend Weingut Magdalenenhof for anyone looking for a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and culinary delights amidst stunning natural surroundings.Guest review byBarbaraBelgium
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 284 reviewsHotel Burg Reichenstein is a bit pricey, but definitely worth the money. It is very romantic and beautiful with flowers all over the place. Great location overlooking the Rhine river. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. The breakfast excellent. The hotel offered free tea and coffee with cakes in the afternoon. The staff was helpful in every way. The restaurant in the castle is excellent. It is definitely worth visiting the castle and museum of the property. All is very well preserved and restored.Guest review byRenate KarolineUnited States

Altstadt and Deutsche Ecke, cable cart over the Rhine to...
Altstadt and Deutsche Ecke, cable cart over the Rhine to castle, Altes Brauhaus. Options to make Rhine/Mosel cruise (from 1-3 hrs). Many nice restaurants and (whine)bars. Live music in cafe Hahn, Irish pub and some other locations (check locally). Good public transport (for e.g. to go to cafe Hahn or to Oktoberfest). Pitty that renting a simple bike is not so easy (not so many options, no guided bike tours offered, renting a bike is usually an electric bike, not cheap). If you want to make a bike tour, bring bike yourself. Also usefull to use instead of local transportation. And borders of the Mosel or Rhine are nice to make a bike tour.Guest review byBearke_MNetherlands - 8.0

The town is a tourist magnet, but for those who know the Rheingau also a Mecca, neighbouring Gesienheim has the University where many Rheingau wine makers will have studied. The whole Rheingau is within reach, the steep Rüdesheim vineyards above the town are wonderful and peaceful for walking, those with less energy can take the chairlift. We tried the Spanish restaurant near the Bahnhof and Breuer's Schloss restaurant opposite (4 metres away) from the Hotel Lindenwirt where we stayed and also ate and drank. They had some nice (think craft) alco free beers.Guest review byDr. MichaelGermany - 10.0

Boppard is a pretty town and small enough to be able to get anywhere on foot. There are many bars and restaurants. The weather was hot during our visit, so we spent most evenings in the Ebertor Biergarten overlooking the Rhine. Food and drink there were good and reasonably priced. We also made several visits to the De Lorenzi Eiscafe. There are a lot of great and well marked walking trails (Traumschleifen) nearby - you can pick up printed copies of these at the Tourist Information in the town or online. The Sesselbahn cable car is a must for great views of the Rhine. Boppard is a great base from which to explore the Rhine Gorge. There are many castles to visit (we particularly enjoyed Marksburg) and many cruise lines stop at Boppard. We took the KD Nostalgie cruise to Bacharach (2 hours each way, with 3.5 hours for lunch and to explore Bacharach) and would thoroughly recommend this.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Its a small Rhine River town with a nice selection of stores. It's quiet and an old castle you can walk or drive up to. It's a great small town to take a break within short dive to explore other Rhine towns north and south of St Goar.Guest review byPeterUnited States - 8.0
A great base for exploring this part of the Rhine.
A great base for exploring this part of the Rhine. Only basic impressions as this was a stop over night en route between Bavaria and the UK. Atmospheric market place, guesthouse just a few steps away and excellent bakery for breakfast made up for a largely rainy night. Would definitely be a candidate for further exploration in the area.Guest review byAshley WilliamsUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Bingen is touristy.
Bingen is touristy. This is not a place for people who are looking for solitude. The ferry takes you straight to Rüdesheim and you can explore the vineyards from there. In the city you can find restaurants, butchers, bakeries and shops. The city is safe and friendly.Guest review byChristophGermany - 10.0
Bacharach is truly a hidden gem in Germany.
Bacharach is truly a hidden gem in Germany. I had one day to explore Germany before meeting up with my tour group, and I read Rick Steve's Germany book and he recommended the Rhine Valley. He also recommends Bacharach as a city to set up base in. Bacharach is such an interesting town! So much history, much of the original buildings are still intact and in use. I did the Bacharach historical walk from Rick Steve's book and it took about an hour and a half. So relaxing and enriching. there's also a K-D tour boat that stops in Bacharach so you can travel up and down the Rhine and view sites such as the Lorely,Guest review byPowley - 6.0

Very nice: ancient, historic buildings, very green and garden-rich surrounding, a lot of benches to sit down and enjoy the view on lovely river Lahn. Not so nice: the « heart » of the village called Roemerstrasse shows a lot of closed shops/empty spaces, conveying a bit the « look & feel of a ghosttown ». That was very much different in former times when it was pulsating with a lot of boutiques and other shops.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Remagen was convenient for me for an overnight st, coming by train from Edinburgh on the day, and likewise as an overnight stop on the last day of my holiday. All travel was, of course, by train. On my first visit I had to visit 'the bridge'. A very historic place.Guest review byAlex BomphrayUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The catles on the Rhein and Moselle were fascinating. Especially good is Marksburg. Koblenz is quite large so there was quite a lot of walking. The city centre still feels like a destination - no boarded-up shops!Guest review byGarethUnited Kingdom
