This is an awesome boutique hotel. Actually, we were not prepared for the level of service in this hotel. The staff is very nice and helpful. The room is decorated with good taste and is spacious, the bed is very comfortable, and the bathroom is very convenient. In the room, we were welcomed by a small bottle of local sparkling wine in a bucket with ice and a couple of petit fours. There was a Nespresso coffee maker and capsules free to use, a couple of wine bottles, and a minibar. The hotel offered a parking place for a fee. We also dined in the hotel's 2-Michelin-star restaurant, an exceptional 7-course menu dinner. The hotel is located very close to the city center, and a selection of restaurants and bars are nearby. Not far away, you can find the market square with many restaurants surrounding it. Also, there is a shopping street close by.

    The location is excellent, just next to the train station or better said behind the train station, it's close to the trains via the tunnel and at the same time it's a very quiet area (even the trains are actually not noisy). The room is nicely clean with a private bathroom. The internet connection is reliable and very fast. There's some free parking behind the hotel, it's not big but we were lucky to find a place. Otherwise there's plenty of places around, but it's paid street parking which is free Sat evening and Sundays. We did not take the breakfast as it's marketed as sustainable which I do not know how to interpret rather than limited choice, so we better did not risk for the money. There's no check out, you simple leave by noon. If you ever wondered how they find out who already checked out to clean to room -> they randomly open the rooms to see if the people are still inside :-)

    This is really an amazing place, so charming and cozy. We liked it since the moment we parked our car in front. All the surroundings and the hotel itself are wonderful! The staff is super friendly and nice. The room was warm and cozy. Maybe we had luck, but the swimming pool area was not crowded at all and we really enjoyed it. The dinner and the breakfast were very delicious. There is also a bar, where we tested some cakes with beer and we were not disappointed at all :) This is a perfect place to relax and be close to the nature. I would highly recommend it, we will be back for sure :)

    We have stayed at more expensive hotels that were nowhere near as good as the Sonnenhof. It is perfectly situated close to both Luxembourg and France. The attention to detail is superb, the staff are extremely attentive and friendly and the food is out of this world. We have stayed here 3 times in the last two months and never felt the need to eat anywhere else. The standard has never dropped, the rooms are lovely and roomy, the breakfast buffet is exceptional and the internet quick. Simply the best.

    Easy check-in, we came late but had good service for our car, a nice meal with good service and plenty of choice. The staff is just wonderful, helpful and kind. Our room was clean. spacious and with comfortable beds. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the calm and nice spa area. This is a lovely part of Europe to have a quick stop or a longer rest.

This is an example when amazing location (200 m from the old town with vibrant atmosphere) is accompanied by spotless comfortable room, very and delicious breakfast and helpful staff (thank you for earlier checking!).     This is the capital of the Saarland area, so has all the amenities of a big town. It has a mainline railway station, and "big town" shops. The centre is pedestrianised, and the old town area of the town is very attractive, with lots of cafes and bars. Around the wider area, the museum of the old, and very large steelworks in Voelklingen is very interesting, and so is the Karlsberg brewery in Homburg and the underground caves there. The Saarschleife bend in the river is beautiful, and there is a high pathway from which to get a better view of the spectacular scene. The local town is Mettlach, and it's a small and pretty place. You can visit the Villeroy and Boch museum and factory outlet there, which are also worth a visit! Slightly further up the line is Trier, the oldest town in Germany, and it still has plenty of Roman architecture. It's also in the German Rhineland vineyard area, so well worth a visit! Cheers!

    We technically stayed in Orscholz, which is a smaller hamelt of Mettlach. It's right where the Saarschleife is as well as a number of biking and hiking trails. We only did the Saarschleife and the Spielplatz, but could have spent a couple days there!

    Saarbrücken is a quiet and green town with a relaxed atmosphere. People were friendly and welcoming, which made my stay even more enjoyable. I really appreciated the balance between sightseeing and peaceful downtime — it felt just right and never overwhelming.

    Mettlach is a charming small town in Germany with many good shops. The church is also impressive. There are a lot of very nice hikes easily accessible from there offering tranquility and interesting landscape alongside the river Saar, for example. Burg Montclair, the remains of a castle on the hill, is also accessible and you can get coffee and cake until the end of October.

    A quiet place with all we needed.

    A quiet place with all we needed. A good place to do sightseeing, by bike, on foot, by car. Great place to be in the garden as well. Not a lot of eating places but the kitched is well equiped. You can easily cycle into Luxembourgh or France.
