Customer relations lady provided excellent service. She was attentive and made every effort to me us comfortable. The location, building, decor very pretty and lots of potential to be very very great but some things were a letdown. The shower didn't drain properly and the buffet dinner was cold. Breakfast wasn't very good either.

Our stay at Dolly Kato was nothing short of magical. Nestled at the heart of a Nubian village, this property offers a genuine cultural immersion that is truly unforgettable. The room's decoration was charming and reflective of the local culture, while the balcony provided breathtaking views of Aswan and the Nile. Watching the serene beauty of the Nile from our balcony was an experience we will cherish forever. The staff at Dolly Kato went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. Their hospitality was unmatched, and they were always ready to assist us. When we needed to leave early for a trip to Abu Simbel, they thoughtfully prepared a breakfast box for us. The range of activities they offer, such as the boat ride and the drive to Abu Simbel, were not only reasonably priced but also of high quality. One of the highlights of our stay was the Nubian party with live music hosted by the property. The lively atmosphere and the enchanting music made the evening an unforgettable experience.

True by all means, it is a resort amidst natural beauty of Aswan. Basma Hotel, despite being our first experience, was an amazing choice and true reward. The place is centrally situated in aswan with proximity to all attractions, city and wonderful activities that tourist and peace seekers would think of. The resort occupies a hill top enabling magestic view of the Nile, the port and great mountains of Aswan. The panorama there is mesmerizing and captures the soul. So romantic, elegant and simple. The resort packs full services within and beyond expectations ( massage, gift shop, business center and wonderful catering). We were lucky to witness a Nubian Wedding ceremony at the luxurious activity area if the resort. Was stylish, amazing and simple- just a true representation of the Aswan culture. Basma Hotel offered guided tours to historic attractions in and around Aswan, leaving you with opportunity to explore and learn more about Egyptology and a 7000 years’ civilization. The unique touch about Basma Hotel is the care and attention they embrace you with even before your arrival. Thanks to dedication and customer centricity of Reham Ezz (guest relations Mgr.) and Hamdi Abdulaziz (deputy GM). I was amazed to the welcoming scene at my room which left me speechless ( a nice welcome message written with flowers on bed). The place was a true destination for comfy stay and a relaxation after busy months of work. The scenic view of the pool from the rooms is a reminder of heavenly delights. Sitting by the pool morning or night time is a definite feel of joy, company and romance. I did find it a reward beyond expectation. And for sure Basma Hotel Aswan will be a number 1 choice for any visit to this magical city.

We enjoyed an amazing four nights here! Marta and Osama are excellent hosts and available to assist as required. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment. Despite the heat in Aswan the apartment stays quite cool and we were always comfortable. Our children were very happy to play with the pets onsite. The property faces the west bank and overlooks the botanical garden island and sand dunes on the west bank. The view and tranquility is simply delightful. (See photo of view) You should definitely keep some spare days in your schedule to relax and recharge on the island. We also highly recommend getting the boat transfer (small additional fee for this service) as to arrive by the water is a completely different experience to walking the Elephantine island paths. We took a private trip arranged through our hosts to Abu Simbel and also a felucca sail (see photo) which we also thoroughly enjoyed. I am so glad we stayed at the Nubian Lotus- it's a totally different world to the east bank of Aswan and even the east side of Elephantine island which is busier, noisy and has a light pollution at night.

We didn't have great expectations because the rating was not the best for this property; however, we were nicely surprised. In fact, we booked just one night in case we didn't like it, and ended up extending for another two. The room was very clean and comfortable, and it wasn't loud at all (many reviews pointed to that, but our room was quiet). The staff are extremely kind, dedicated and accommodating. Breakfast was traditional Egyptian and abundant, we really enjoyed taking it with the beautiful view from the 6th floor where it is served. A nice detail is that you also get the gorgeous view of the Nile while using the lift. The location is great with restaurants at walking distance. We also arranged the Abu Simbel tour with them, which was good and at a fair price.

This is one of the hidden gems of Aswan. To be honest the pictures don't do justice to the hotel. We got a river view room and it had one of the most picturesque views of the Nile and Aswan. The staff was very helpful, and right from checking in to checking out we had such a pleasant experience. The reception can also help with local tours and taxis. The location of the hotel is also ideal and you have access to most facilities nearby (railway station, busses or boats). They even packed us breakfast when we planned leaving early for other destinations in and around Aswan. This was one of the best experiences we had in Egypt.

We stayed here for one night - super location overlooking Lake Nasser - 5 minutes drive from Abu Simbel. The hotel is very impressive set in its own private grounds and with a great pool area. The room was very spacious and tastefully furnished. Cool balcony with a view of the Lake. On checking in, we were upgraded to have breakfast included - this was great as it cost around $30 each. The breakfast buffet had a great variety to suit all tastes. Would definitely stay again if we could afford to!

Visit the temples in the afternoon (after 03.00pm) because the is nobody (except perhaps some extroverted sceaming chinese girls - but once they are gone). Yes, it´s hotter than in the morning and the light is not prefect. but you will have the temple for yourself and you will be able to make perfect photos from inside.

The stay at Abdu’s houseboat was nothing but mind blowing.

The stay at Abdu’s houseboat was nothing but mind blowing. I stayed in the houseboat for 5 days with my mother. We both feel like we gained a friend in Abdu and hope to see him again one time. He is so kind and caring! Not only did he help us arrange everything in terms of tours (to Filae, Abu Simbel, a Nubian village, the botanical garden and more) and activities (Falluca sailing, Zaraha sand meditation, bird watching trip, exploring the Souk, swimming in the Nile, transfer to Luxor via Edfu and Kom Ombo and more), he also helped us with his second smaller boat to get everywhere, get local products for local prices, assimilate to the local culture by clothing and customs, cooked for us (he also made sure all food was well washed), helped us donate goods and clothes to the local school, and assisted us in getting tickets for the night train from Luxor to Caïro, ATM withdrawals and simcards). We truly think he has a heart of gold and works with honesty not soley for money. His houseboat has everything you need for an authentic stay. Our cabin was spacious enough for the two of us and had an amazing view over the Elephantine Island. The terraces was facing the beautiful botanical garden on Kitchener Island. Due to the placement of the boat you have some shade in the morning and you can enjoy the sunset in the evening. If you look for a real experience and want to dive in the culture and day to day livestyle on the Nile, the boat is definitely something for you. We are truly greatful we’ve met Abdu and can definitely recommend a stay with him on his lovely houseboat. We hope to see him again one day!

From the moment I arrived, I felt embraced not just as a guest, but as family. The warmth and genuine hospitality of the entire household created a peaceful refuge that allowed me to rest, reflect, and reconnect with what matters. I especially appreciated the loving way they cared for their children, the heartfelt conversations, and their openness to cultural exchange. The meals were nourishing, the environment was clean and safe, and the small, thoughtful gestures—like helping with errands or offering fruit—left a deep impression on me. I was also moved by their humility, sincerity, and the quiet strength with which they manage the responsibilities of life.

The bed was super comfortable and the balcony view of the nile was beautiful during sunrise. Hotel can offer roundtrip shared van to Abu Simbel and they provided a packed breakfast. Location is set to more calm side of Aswan blending with the locals. ATMs are nearby as well as few restaurants and many local shops. You can also take the boat for a trip or to the other side of Aswan. Aircon and hot shower were working fine.

Abu Simbel is truly breathtaking. We visited around noon on a blessed day during Ramadan, so there weren't many tourists. At times, it felt like we had the entire sites to ourselves. You can walk or take a transport cart to the sites.

Allow at least 2 full days for Aswan region.

Allow at least 2 full days for Aswan region. It s a great stopover for a break after the madness of the tourist sites. The Nubian village ( with the colored walls, where all the motor boats end up) on the other side of the town has been a place where i could have made local friends if I stayed longer. Of course the money making is also there in the mindset, and it s over touristic but you experience the vib of a local village if you stay overnight there. I suggest Ekadolli guesthouse for location outside the touristic area, still close enough to the village, up a hill offering nice view at the Nil. Nebro Guesthouse is better if you wish to wake up right beside the river, in the heart of the village but quiet enough.
