Very cute hotel in the little mountain village Tredos. Breakfast was delicious with Manu homemade cakes/jams, also different cheeses, eggs, … Cristina and the staff really made us feel at home. We initiallly were going to stay 1 night and ended up staking 4 nights 🥰 perfect location to start different walks in the summer (circo de Colomers (7 lake hike), carros de foc, …). And in winter close to ski routes. We’ll definitely try to come back!

Vielha is located in the center of the Vall d'Aran: one of the most wonderful mountain regions in the area. It is very beautiful, no matter the season. Staying in Vielha allows convenient access to a lot of hikes, and is a good base for skying. Additionally, it has a lot of life and shops.

This town was apparently built by the developer and is not a genuine mountain village. There are literally 2 small grocery stores with high prices. The bars and coffee shops are open only after 13:00 and there are not too many of them. There are few decent restaurants, but probably slightly overpriced. There are almost no apre-ski bars (I have seen only one). Those who wish to take a break from skiing don't have much to do in the town unless they use the facilities of one of the posh hotels. This resort is more for die-hard skiers than for those who want to enjoy other activities.

Bossost is an easily accessible village which retains its architectural charm and friendly welcome. It has a good selection of restaurants and bars as well as a number of speciality shops. It has great views of the surrounding mountains and a river runs alongside the principal street. Parking was easy (although we visited during low season). We managed to park on the street opposite our hotel, but there are numerous car parks dotted around the town - all of which are free!. There are large supermarkets (with fuel stations) within a short drive of the village and plenty of places to eat and drink. Many of the streets are effectively pedestrianised and, apart from some steep gradients, the village is very easy to walk around. If you choose to explore the back streets, you will find many interesting and characteristic buildings. The Church in the centre of the village has a lot of historical artifacts.

Great town at the foot of the mountain. Picturesque - what you would imagine a ski town to look like. Tons of restaurants in Arties - many of the ones you see in travel websites are there or very close. Mercadona supermarket in town too so very convenient. I do recommend having your own car.

Garos is a pretty little town in the middle of Val d'Aran, closed to Vielha, the capital where all needed shopping and facilities are available, but far enough (about 5km) to feel the relax and enjoy the air. It is an ideal point of departure for going to some hiking. There is a point for recharging electric cars (Iberdrola).

The town is on a route between Spain and France and is a lively town but quiet, especially at night. There is good free parking and selection of reasonably places to eat and drink. The cool mountain air is superb. In the town are a hospital, police, state medical centre and all the shops you need, including supermarkets. Within one hour by car you can visit so many places, in Spain and France. Toulose and Lourdes are about a two hour drive. Local people are friendly and have their unique language Aranese of which they are proud. You can sample Occitane culture and mountain food.

Beautiful Vielha in the Pyrenees is the perfect base for hiking/trail running. I visited as part of a trail race and the town itself is the perfect base with good links to other towns in the Val D'Aran area. It's picturesque and has all the local amenities needed like cafes, restaurants, sports shops and laundromat e.t.c. Local residents are friendly and welcoming.

Good for intermediate skiers, plenty of blue & red runs for a 5 day stay. The lift pass system needs updating, they're still using the barcode pistols to check you on to lifts. Baqueira is a quiet resort, anybody used to the Alps would find there isn't much choice in terms of bars, restaurants & nightlife but ok if you're after a quieter stay. Municipal parking is free & just a short walk to the accommodation buildings (hotels & apartments), around 5 to 10 minutes. We saw a forecast online of 1.5m depth of snow at the top & 1.2m at the bottom (snow forecast.com). This was misinformation by a long way & maybe the resort is providing the wrong information??
