The staff here is so welcoming and they all work very hard. Food is so delicious and the ocean here is perfectly for snorkeling. There is also scuba diving shop and you definitely need to try it!

We absolutely loved our stay at Mai sunset resort! We had previously stayed at Barefoot Manta and Barefoot Kuata and Mai sunset was the best place we stayed at during our week holiday. The staff were wonderful, all so welcoming and friendly and we felt that they did everything they could to make our stay as great as possible. We arranged a local village tour and as the staff at the resort lived in the village, they took us there, showed us around, introduced us to their families and even made us some tea and homemade roti, it was amazing! Thank you Ili and Peter for a fantastic experience! The food at the resort was so tasty. On our first evening we were treated to a fijian lovo (underground oven) and they prepared delicious fish and chicken with kasava and salad. Unlike a lot of other local resorts there was no buffet and we could actually choose what we wanted to eat from a menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner which felt like a real treat! The resort was so quiet and peaceful, and our bure felt like being in a 5 star hotel! We felt so relaxed from day 1 and there were only 8 other guests staying at the resort during our time there who we got to know really well by the end of our stay, everyone seemed happy to be there and it led to a really positive atmosphere, something we hadn't experienced elsewhere. Joelle, the boat captain took us on out on the boat so we could snorkel in the nearby coral for free which was so kind, and we also arranged a trip to the Sawa-i-lau caves on our final day which Joelle and Peter ensured worked out timing wise with the Yasawa flyer. Overall, we had the most amazing time staying at Mai Sunset and can't recommend staying here enough! Thank you so much to Paul, Liti, Peter, Joelle, Ili, Peci, Fane, and Ane, Sota Tale!

The staff here felt like a group of friends. Getting to know them and speaking to them was the best part of our trip. They all helped me do a proposal that me and my fiance will cherish for the rest of our lives and went out of their way to tailor our experience of these islands to something really beautiful. They looked after us and made sure we were always comfortable and happy, which must be a lot of effort. We'd love to go back, and we can't say thank you enough to each one of them for how friendly and caring they were towards us. Even the wild dogs felt like friends, one of the most beautiful and enjoyable experiences of our whole life. Too many names to say individually, from the office to the massage therapist, activities, waiters, and office, everyone contributed to our unforgettable experience. Thank you for everything! That it was real, un-glossy insight into Fiji village life today.

Most welcoming and friendly family and very authentic village! Really good food and a lot, they even cooked vegetarian for me! Nice activities, it never gets boring. The beach is beautiful too. Small room but comfy bed with mosquito net. We would have loved to stay longer. Thank you very much Silo, Bill, Va and Rob for making our stay great! Extra info because it’s one of the first reviews: We got picked up from the ferry by boat (extra cost), very good food provided for 50FJD/day per person, bathroom simple with bucket toilet and shower in a little shelter next door, no supermarket in the village so bring what you need (mosquito repellent and sun screen!). Solar panels provide power through the day and lights, but no fan (was not too hot for us). Covering clothes and no hats/sunglasses while walking the village, beach is fine :) Bringing a gift to the chief of the village is also part of etiquette.

Maikai and his family were generous, kind and extremely accommodating, including us in welcome ceremonies and a family picnic. The room was great, spacious, private and clean. The location is right next to a village where the people are friendly and you can look around the kindergarten and get to know the people and round the corner from a resort too where you can do activities if you like. We had a great few days here and would’ve loved to stay longer. It’s an excellent homestay.
