Les Cabottes is a little bit of a different but very pleasant experience but can absolutely be recommended 👍 It’s located a little bit outside Beaune, in a village called Change. The rooms are beautiful and delicious home made food is served in a picnic basket either to enjoy in the room or on your trip around the countryside.     This was our third stay, and the hotel upgraded us to a garden suite which was a beautiful spacious room that allowed us to have a private garden access for our dog. When we made the decision to extend our stay for another week, the gentleman at reception was so helpful and accommodating in arranging the cleaners to prioritise our new room to be cleaned first, enabling us to seamlessly transfer to our new room before we even checked out of our former one. The breakfast and dinners are always high quality and the staff overall are very jovial, attentive and helpful, with so many individuals standing out as going above and beyond in every way. This is truly appreciated.

    I like the small town vibe which is a relaxing trip. Follow the owl trail to see all the important sights. Bonus is that we went to 3 wonderful museums for free. How generous of Dijon to offer that to all! You can walk everywhere in the center. Try the different Dijon mustard.

    We arrived in Beaune at 5pm on day 1 and stayed there for 3 nights, Day 2 we did a morning wine tasting in and spent the rest of the day in Dijon. Day 3 we had a whole day in Beaune which is probably enough to explore the grand 'Hospices De Beaune' (to do this probperly can take a whole morning as there is lots to learn about the history of the building) and walk around the cobbled streets

    The old town is small and quaint and is located along the river Saone. Old Town is easily walkable with the main area being about 10 x 12 city blocks in width with an additional newer and larger portion of town immediately to the south. It has nice historical charm and is centrally located between Paris, Geneva and Lyon. It took us about 1.5 hours in an Uber to get to town from the Lyon airport.

    There are many, many places of interest to see and explore.

    There are many, many places of interest to see and explore. For me, the highlights were the Cathedral and the historic churches such as St. Pierre and St. Etienne. In addition, I was glad that I made time for the Sanctuary of St. Bernadette and the Ducal Palace, which features a basement museum well worth the visit (although one only gets to see a tiny sliver of the Palace itself, and the rooms you do see contain nothing of interest). I spent a lot of time walking around taking pictures and thus ran out of time to do much else, sadly.

    We stop in Nuits St Georges on drives from UK to South of France. Its perfectly mid way, great location from the motorway and has plenty to offer. The town center has been updated since our last trip and the mix of traditional architecture and modern stone and fountains in the center of town work well together. There are a number of bars and we sat at a really great bar with a fabulous vibe drinking great draught beer and people watching. After the long drive from Calais to Nuits St George we decided to skip a restaurant and hit the local Carrefour supermarket for wine and picnic items, but, in the past we've eaten at local restaurants and there are plenty to chose from. Great place to stop, relax and rewind for the onward journey.

    Tournus is a lovely old town full of charm and character.

    Tournus is a lovely old town full of charm and character. Abbey at the top river at the bottom. Bars cafes restaurants shops etc. Cycle museum for a rainy afternoon (or if you like bikes) The cycling in the area is great. Would go again no problem

    Loved that the breakfast was buffet as I had a hungry...

    Loved that the breakfast was buffet as I had a hungry toddler with me. The fact that you can choose when to have your room cleaned was superb. Supermarket and bus stop few minutes away which was so convenient. How they have a 24hr machine to check you in even at 3am (my flight was delayed had no issues getting into my room) which was a big bonus!👍🏾
