FAQs about hotels in Loire Valley
Castles, Vineyards and Views
Boasting a staggering number of castles, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Loire Valley also has picturesque vineyards and riverside towns. Once noble retreats, many of the region’s chateaux are now hotels on Booking.com.
With an imposing castle as well as charming half-timbered buildings, Angers is the meeting point of 3 rivers that flow into the Loire. One of these, the Sarthe, continues to Le Mans, a historic town famous for its 24-hour car race, while Saumur is best known for its horse shows and square castle overlooking the Loire.
Chinon’s large hilltop castle once housed French and English kings, while Villandry castle hosted discussions between the 2 nations. Its beautiful gardens are in geometric patterns, similar to those by Chenonceaux castle spanning the Cher River.
Between the 2 is Tours with its towering cathedral and colourful medieval core. Amboise is a little further east and has a chateau overlooking the region’s typical stone buildings with grey roofs. It also has several Loire Valley hotels with pools.
Blois has yet another royal castle, though its understated exterior doesn’t prepare you for the incredible interior. Nearby Chambord has the largest and most magnificent castle, and the Loire continues to Orléans, a medieval city famed for Joan of Arc and an amazing cathedral. At the opposite end of Sologne Forest is a fabulous cathedral in Bourges.

A beautiful city in every sense of the word. It's not too big - you can walk to most places. It's handy for the airport, the walks and gardens are great and the bars and cafes are charming. Even the people are elegant! I would definitely go againGuest review byCurryUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Angers city is easily accessible from Nantes by train.
Angers city is easily accessible from Nantes by train. (35Mins). Take a walk along the far side of the old bridge from the food hall and find the restaurants sited along the river bank, where most of the locals hang out. River boat trips can also be booked from this location. The Chateau museum is well worth a visit and provides a history and views of the city.Guest review byGarry RoystonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Our Amboise apartment was the perfect base to visit Loire chateaux and wineries, as well as the Beauval zoo, which we highly recommend. And dinner at Hotel Le Fleuray, just outside of Amboise, is heartily recommended.Guest review byEstelaUnited States - 10.0

Saumur is a gem of a town, there are so many activities that you can participate in, whether cycling, kayaking, walking around the historic town or going for the famous degustation at one of the numerous vineyards that are within easy distance. It is also the gateway to dozens of chateau. There are cruises on the river to suit most budgets and restaurants from the basic to the expensive. There are also various markets and festivities that take place. If you have time the Petits Train is a must, forty minutes being driven around the historic town gives you a new perspective on life, especially the view from the right bank which lets you enjoy the historic panorama on the left bank.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 2.0
Honestly, this is just not ok in 2025.
Honestly, this is just not ok in 2025. I sleep about 160 nights per year in a hotel, normally 3 stars. F1 after their refurbishments is simply better. Wherever I go in "premiere classe", it's always like: "animals might just sleep here but not us". INVEST guys, how this chain survives, I don't know. Don't be mistaken, just a low price is not enough to survive. Knowing your business is, and that is never the case, in whatever "hotel" of them you sleep. Personally, this is my refuge when I need to sleep and have no other, more human options. All depending of my routing. Just do something, enjoy your business, make a proud company for owners and employees. Either the hotel chain doesn't have any money to invest or they don't want to. Either way, this goes bust one day as I strongly believe, after at least 10 years with, thank God, maximum 10 nights in this chain, will never happen.Guest review byJeroenFrance - 6.0

I needed to find a bed without any dinner or other facilities late in the day and only for the night as would be moving on early the next day. Therefore cost was the primary concern. It was cheap and the bed comfortable, though the room noisy when other guests were moving around the building or noisy in their rooms. Don't take breakfast option, it was poor value and not as you might expect when at reception. Behind reception is a pleasant looking restaurant, however breakfast for this hotel is in a side room which is not so pleasant and with not a great selection of food and drink. Check in staff did not make this clear when option offered at check in.Guest review byPatrickGermany - 6.0
This was an overnight stop on our way back to the ferry port...
This was an overnight stop on our way back to the ferry port near Caen, so more of a functional one than a sightseeing one, though we did head to the château at Villandry after leaving, which was only about 25 minutes' drive via the scenic route through Savonnières. There was a choice of decent restaurants in easy walking distance for dinner and breakfast was fine. The room was very hot when we arrived and the aircon not working but the lad on the desk explained that it can either be set to cool or to heat for the whole building and the weather suddenly changing from cool to hot had left the 'wrong' option enabled. We were able to cool it down by opening the door and window but that did admit quite a lot of traffic noise.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom
