- From $178.57 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 674 reviewsThe entire building is from 1438 - yes the Middle Ages! There is also a waterfall that literally touches the breakfast area! Incredible! We had a room with twin beds and it was perfect. Beautiful view, great towels, bedding, closet space, everything I wanted. Internet was aided by a mobile unit that strengthened coverage and I was able to have Zoom meetings with no issues. We had dinner at the spectacular restaurant, worthy of 1 star Guide Michelin. All the staff are extremely sweet, cheerful and competent. I would come back in a heartbeat!Guest review byXtineUnited States
- From $152.63 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 152 reviewsAdorable hotel nestled in a lovely spot framed by pastures, forest and a charming pond. Our room was a comfy accommodation , very pleasant , and had a small terrace with a view over the natural cenario. Bathroom with a good shower. Dinner at the Bistrot ( one of the 2 restaurants on site) was excellent and the menu very tempting. Unfortunately the one-starred Michelin on-site wouldn’t open till Thursday. Gastronomic restaurants usually are closed from Monday till Thursday.Guest review byAntonellaSwitzerland

Besançon pleasantly surprised us.
Besançon pleasantly surprised us. We usually just passed through on our way to Dijon or Lyon, but stopping here was definitely worth it! The historic center has a wonderful atmosphere, highlighted by the Église Sainte-Madeleine de Besançon. Make sure to allow enough time for the local Museum of Archaeology and Fine Arts. The collection is extensive but well worth the time. The military fortifications around the city, including the Citadel (a UNESCO World Heritage site), were also an interesting highlight. The only downside is that the city is not a major tourist destination, so finding souvenirs can be a bit difficult, and even at the Citadel the selection is rather limited.Guest review byPetrCzech Republic - 10.0
It is a charming town on a river.
It is a charming town on a river. The old town is nice with the catherdral and the main square offering gastronomic experience with its many restaurants and cafés. The new city centre offers shopping facilities as well as restaurants and cafés. The citadelle is well worth climbing. There are wonderful forests around Belfort and fortresses to climb. There is a big lake with a park around and also a lake a bit further away, good for swimming as well. Belfort downtown is easy to walk around and visit. The surroundings offer countless and colorful possiblities of relaxing (hiking, biking, swimming, etc.). Do not miss out on it, if you are driving that way.Guest review byEstellaMHungary - 10.0
An interesting old town.
An interesting old town. A visit to the birthplace of Pasteur, one of the inventors of vaccines, is well worth a visit. The house is now a museum with interesting displays. Lots of nice cafes, bars and restaurants.Guest review byRogerUnited Kingdom - 10.0
"I had an amazing stay at this hotel in Lake Maggiore.
"I had an amazing stay at this hotel in Lake Maggiore. The facilities are excellent, with several pools, including a heated one that was perfect for relaxing. Both the common areas and the rooms were spotlessly clean, which made the whole experience very comfortable. The location is also a big highlight, as it is very well situated and makes it easy to access the main attractions of the region. Overall, it was a truly wonderful experience, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to enjoy Lake Maggiore with comfort and quality."Guest review byMiguelUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The city and surrounding area was simply charming.
The city and surrounding area was simply charming. We were there on market day and that was a real treat. Local shops were friendly and interesting. We visited Louis Pasteur home and had an interesting tour. Our B&B hostess recommended a local restaurant that was wonderful and we had read about a nearby castle/hotel with dining which was also way beyond expectation. Everything was a great value. The town is very walkable.Guest review bymary janeUnited States - 8.0

We are two older Australians who had been on the road over four weeks. We stayed in Vesoul three nights. We had one of the best meals ever at Le Caveau du Grand Puits. We enjoyed walking in the older area, walked up to a very high point called La Motte and relaxed in the English Gardens. We both needed haircuts and walked in to a hairdresser, Figaro des Ursulines and came out feeling very refreshed. We made a day trip to Besançon, and also close by were Belfort, Gy and Gray. We stopped at these on the way. For us, Vesoul was a friendly place, a place to relax and use our limited French effectively. For more energetic people, there are a large number of cycling tracks to enjoy and there is delightful scenery everywhere. No it is not a famed tourist spot but yes there is a lot to enjoy in Vesoul.Guest review byJuneAustralia - 4.0

Although locate in a superb area for walking a town can easily judge a town by the age profile and what facilities are open and he quality of them. The town boast 24000 in 1973 and now has an aging population of 9000. The bars are well we could not find one that had any 'local' attmosphere and the restaurants looked run down and catering for some minorities. The only supermarket is a SPAR with dodgy hygiene standards in the centre. The cathedral is rpobably the real tail tail - what happened there. I uess the give away is the number of high rise blocks of flats that are only 20% occupied by the said elderly and the number of lights on in the evening. For a town that is trying to attract tourism according the 'Office de Tourism' it needs to decide who as there is nothing in town to do that!! The trot round town 1 hour tops then roll on.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 6.0

I didn't have the time to visit most of the inner city, but from what I can tell it's rather average, somewhat well-kept but far from ambitious in its design. Probably best for one to focus on Dijon, although Besançon could still be explored on your way to the mountainsGuest review byMartin389Ireland - 10.0

The citadelle is worth the trip alone: walking through the many passageways, all the way to the very top for a great viewpoint. Don't miss a visit to the lion! We had a great dinner at Le Pot au Feu. The old town is quaint and great to walk around.Guest review byMarieFrance - 10.0

Dole is a really atmospheric, beautiful little town. Perfect to spend a few hours exploring. Seems to be a bit of a gastronomic centre, but unfortunately none of the restaurants was open when I was there (Sunday morning).Guest review byJamesSwitzerland
