We ate on a small table laid with linen and silver cutlery in the courtyard by the pool. Very romantic and a perfect evening after a long drive. The following morning Marie prepared a fabulous breakfast, fit for a king, in the amazing dining hall. So much choice of locally produced food !! A proper chateau in a lovely, if a little rural, part of France. As we left, along the winding drive, we had to stop to watch a deer and a hare who were in no hurry to move. The hotel has a good spa with pool in a steam room, sauna and treatment/ massage areas. Golf of course. Views from all rooms over the golf course. Balconies. Very comfortable rooms. Horrible location. In an industrial/ commercial estate. I booked because I needed to use the restaurant. Was advised by email while en route (48 hour journey) restaurant closed all weekend. Only option was to get in car and drive again ( already driven 8 hours) and leave the dogs . Only walking distance option was a terrible Chinese buffet. Everything else closed. Apparently it is in the terms of booking. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Needed to be flagged very prominently and it wasn’t. I would never have booked if it had been obvious the restaurant was closed. Hotel claims we weren’t charged for 2 dogs. I can’t verify as I didn’t keep the invoice. Payed over €100 for a dingy tiny room in need of updating, horrible location, hotel minimally functioning. Then got pushback from hotel on posting an entirely fair account of my experience. The resorting to “guest blaming” is reflective of the of the experience delivered . This was a 4-star hotel so you can expect a certain level of comfort and facilities. It is essentially a corporate hotel I would say, so used primarily during the week by business people. The building had an interesting history as a cigarette factory, although apart from a few murals in the room and hotel public areas which referenced this history, the decor was modern and from the inside it was not necessarily obvious that this was a building from the 1800s. It was a good location for us for an overnight on our trip back to the UK from Provence, The hotel is centrally situated and has secure, paid parking opposite the hotel.
