- From US$161.14 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 259 reviewsAubigny-sur-Nere is a very attractive and historic town and La Chaumiere is in the middle of it. We loved the building which is old and beautiful and has been wonderfully restored with every comfort. We booked an evening meal for convenience which turned out to be exceptionally good - really fine dining - but for a fraction of the price you pay in the UK for this quality of food and wine. The service was also great - both friendly and efficient.Guest review byJudith CarolineUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,361 reviewsWhat a beautiful setting. Lovely room, though a bath is not best for 75 year olds! I am aware we could have asked for that on booking. Great meal in the evening. Lovely breakfast to set us up for our long journey to the Lot. Really nice to be able to let our dog run through the grounds too. Altogether a great stopover and I am sure we’ll be back sometime!😁 Thank you!Guest review bySiobhanFrance

From the beginning our host made us feel very welcome.
From the beginning our host made us feel very welcome. The house is just wonderful. It is spacious, calm and peaceful. It has works of art, statues, ceramics prints and paintings all of which are interesting and add to the feeling of being somewhere special. Our room was spacious and delightful. It was spotlessly clean. It had tasteful, well chosen furniture, and a ceiling fan that was completely silent. After we had settled in the room we had a glass of wine in the garden under the trees. Our only regret was we did not eat there. it is clear that our host is a very good cook. We saw the meal he was preparing for the other guests. The breakfast was lovely. We had croissants we had seen being cooked the night before, there were 4 different sorts of jam made from fruits from his garden. There was a whole tray of different sorts of local honey. The crowning point for us was delicious egg made from the eggs of his hens what had a run and luxurious house just outside the window in our room. We could see they are very happy hens. We ate in the Auberge next door which was easily a poor second to eating in the accomodation. We were enroute for somewhere else so did not explore the area much but we are going back to stay in the Clos des Poulies for longer and are looking forward to walks in the forest and so on.Guest review byCatherineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely little town/village. 3/4 nice restaurants especially creperie. Very quiet, felt very safe walking around. Chocolate shop/museum excellent but pricey but Chocolate worth it. Has an express carrefour plus boulangerie and meat/charcuterie shop.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Room was a bit too small -not enough space to hang clothes and put bags away, but the bed was comfortable and clean. Lovely pool and the house it very beautiful as is the location. Staff in general were very nice. We did ask to have a drink at the bar one night when we came back from dinner and before we had finished they turned off the lights and asked us to move - which I thought was a bit strange! In general it was very nice, good breakfast which we had a couple of times and a very chilled place to stay.Guest review byTamasinUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We really enjoyed staying in a rural area.
We really enjoyed staying in a rural area. The chateau was amazing and we even saw a declaration signed by George Washington. We had some great meals from pizza to crepes to a 5 star meal. This is a small town but so special.Guest review byWandaUnited States - 10.0

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds of the chateau with a beautiful scenic views of the countryside. Plenty of outdoor activities and facilities to enjoy the nature. Great for dogs 🐕 , plenty of open spaces and the walks and cycle routes are well signed so you know exactly what path to take. Lovely hotel for a peaceful break! Would recommend. The location is perfect, just a short walk/drive to the town for dinner and lots of choice for food - we went to O bistro we couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome as they shuffled the tables around to fit us in. The children were well looked after with the children’s menu (homemade chips) and the duck was superb, as was the smoked trout starter.Guest review byEllenUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Chambord is a very impressive chateau.
Chambord is a very impressive chateau. A must see if you are in the area. My wife liked the histopad. I would have preferred to just read the information cards. We went on June 20 on a very hot day. Even with it's enormous size the chateau was pretty crowded Large tour bus groups and groups of school children were sometimes difficult to get through.Guest review byDavidUnited States - 6.0

we used the area as an overnight stay en route from south of France to Calais crossing to return to the UK. We arrived in the evening and set off soon after breakfast. We did not look at anything in the close vicinity, but noted that it is about 30 min drive from Chambord Chateau, which is somewhere that I would like to visit in the future.Guest review byKaren & Rich xUnited Kingdom - 10.0
A small village surrounded by the forest.
A small village surrounded by the forest. There are two bakeries, a supermarket, several restaurants. Thursday is a market day. There is a nice church and a lot of trekking opportunities around. Bracieux is a quiet place on the border of Chambord park. Chambord can be reached by bike in half an hour. The place is good to visit Chambord, Blois, Cheverny, to spend a lot of time in the nature. The wine domaines like Cheverny and Tourraine are close by for those who like a nice wine degustation.Guest review byLena C.France - 10.0
We stayed one night on our way to the south of France.
We stayed one night on our way to the south of France. Location was ideal being just off the A20 and about 30 km south of Orleans. The manager spoke good English and nothing was too much trouble, she actually likes to practice her English. We had a lovely room with a balcony and a nice big bathroom. Have already booked to stay there on our return journeyGuest review byMaryUnited Kingdom
