The hotel is set off a road and once you enter, it is quiet and tranquil. The staff are very discreet and the service is excellent. We had room 16 which had a private balcony overlooking the river Tarn. The room was large, very comfortable and the view was beautiful. The Air Conditioning was weak but we opened the door and the balcony and the through draft cooled the room in the evenings. As we were having a heat wave, the cool breeze in the evenings lasting through to the morning was delightful. The meals are delicious and the service again is excellent. Breakfast is equally good with excellent coffee. It should be noted that we have an electric car and the staff went out of the way to ensure we could charge it.Guest review by2 blokes from LondonFrance - 8.0
Castres is a good centre for visiting Languedoc-Roussillon.
Castres is a good centre for visiting Languedoc-Roussillon. Albi (not to be missed) and Carcassonne within easy reach. Goya museum splendid. Like a smaller Mont St Michel rising from the green fields all around. The cobbled streets and old houses are fascinating and there are many beautiful and exceptional craft shops for ceramics, leather goods and gorgeous jewellery. Also available to buy, fantastic cheese, wine, pates and saucissonThe amazing market 'square' with it's amazing roof and pillars is fabulous. The Office de Tourisme is in a lovely building and staff were very helpful. Castres is a lovely town , beautifully decorated for Christmas. Lovely Christmas Markets , very family oriented. However , not a lot of restaurants open Christmas Eve even for lunch and a many closed from the 23 rd of December till end of first week in January !
