- From US$361.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 92 reviewsIt was a delight to stay at The Angel! From the moment we arrived we were looked after so well by all the fabulous staff at all times of day and night. I can’t thank the kind man who helped us out in the courtyard at three o’clock in the morning and brought delicious tea and a cappuccino covered in salted caramel chocolate! Every part of the hotel is a magical blend of glorious architecture that has been there for hundreds of years and modern luxury. My room was the best! I wish I could have brought it home. With the exceptional en-suite. My bed was so comfortable and the bed linen was perfect! Every need was catered for to ensure the most delightful stay. The Angel Hotel is in the heart of Abergavenny, allowing such easy access to anywhere in the town. It was the best holiday in a place that I love. Staying in the Hotel made absolutely perfect.Guest review bySusieAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 51 reviewsDrovers Rest is lovely! we stayed in The Cart House which was really spacious, well appointed and so warm! Unfortunately the weather meant we couldn't partake in a farm walk but the fact that it was even an option was wonderful! We had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and the water was hot! We cooked for the two nights we were there and had everything we needed. There is WiFi, games, books and various streaming services on hand if needed. The blackout blinds are a great touch and it is honestly so quiet! Marta was in contact and gave us all the information we needed.Guest review byLucindaUnited Kingdom

We absolutely love the cathedral!
We absolutely love the cathedral! The museum was well worth a visit too & we discovered we had relatives who had served in the Boar War. There are excellent easy strolls to be had along the canal paths and plenty of shops to browse through. You'll never be short of a coffee shop in Brecon, there are loads to choose from.Guest review bykay - 8.0
Merthyr itself is a bit of a depressing town.
Merthyr itself is a bit of a depressing town. Lots of empty shops. A nice restaurant near the train station, Casa Bianca. A good shopping centre just outside the main town with a big M&S, a big Boots, Next, TK Max, etc. Merthyr has good roads and it's easy to get to Brecon, Swansea and Cardiff from there.Guest review byDeborahUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The town centre is now pretty much traffic free. Good variety of shops and places to eat and drink, all within easy walking distance. Plenty of car parking and those managed by Monmouthshire county council can be paid for using a phone app.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I don't travel too far from the property, as I am happy with the local context, but if you like travelling out, then there is lots on locally and further out of Llandovery. Lots of stillness, peace and enjoying the natural world. Due to allergies, cooking facilities in the property make it really easy for eating in. Solo and families can enjoy lots of walks. A scattering of independent shops and pubs to enjoy.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

It is a beautiful little village set in a very picturesque area, our stop was just overnight after a trip to a dog show in Builth Wells, but it was very enjoyable and we will return again next year and maybe explore some more.Guest review byShirkeiraUnited Kingdom - 8.0

As expected there were a great many book shops. Also some attractive gift type shops and being a Saturday an interesting craft market. Lots of eateries but staying at the Old Black Lion we didn’t need to use them. Very best being a bank holiday weekendGuest review byJeannebUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Llandeilo is a quaint market Welsh town , steeped in history. it has a good sized Park to walk about, Castle near by, within walking distance. A few interesting shops. A Texaco Petrol station nearby. but no E5 fuel. nearest is in Gorslas, about 15mins drive, 7miles away. We did visit a pub called the White Hart for a big sit down dinner & booked in advance. But found the Pub to be poorly managed & food was pretty poor too. There is another pub/restaurant called The Plough about a mile away. excellent food & Drink choices. Good sized car park & very open. Friendly staff and very attentive. Llandeilo is worth getting out & walking around, has narrow streets & you will miss something quaint & important. Take a camera tooGuest review bySepticUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Glasbury village is only a few minutes drive south from Hay on Wye in beautiful countryside an right by the river. The Harp Inn is a great place to stay, it's a pub full of character and you get a very warm welcome from the owners. The facilities and food are brilliant and excellent value for money. We will certainly make a return visit next time we are in the area.Guest review byPaulUnited Kingdom - 2.0

We unfortunately stay at the pentre riding stables which are not fit to stay in, when we walked in we started to find somewhere else to stay and understand why you don't get a refund because no one would pay to stay here. I walked over the road to the CRAIG-Y- NOS CASTLE. Which is an absolutely beautiful building and the staff are fantastic, unfortunately the had a wedding on so everything was booked. There is one particular young lady who works there, who's birthday was on Saturday May 14. She was absolutely fantastic and so helpful, she does the castle proud unfortunately I don't know her nameGuest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 6.0

You can see that Ebbw Vale is in decline due to the Steel Works that closed some time ago and the coal mines, also shopping centre that used to be there has closed. Overall not much happening for this town, but the people where very friendlyGuest review byAnonymous
