It was a delight to stay at The Angel! From the moment we arrived we were looked after so well by all the fabulous staff at all times of day and night. I can’t thank the kind man who helped us out in the courtyard at three o’clock in the morning and brought delicious tea and a cappuccino covered in salted caramel chocolate! Every part of the hotel is a magical blend of glorious architecture that has been there for hundreds of years and modern luxury. My room was the best! I wish I could have brought it home. With the exceptional en-suite. My bed was so comfortable and the bed linen was perfect! Every need was catered for to ensure the most delightful stay. The Angel Hotel is in the heart of Abergavenny, allowing such easy access to anywhere in the town. It was the best holiday in a place that I love. Staying in the Hotel made absolutely perfect.

From check-in to departure, everything was perfect. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming, once checked in we were told how to get to our room on the 1st floor. Room was immaculate and beautifully furnished, bed was spacious and bathroom was beautiful too with a massive walk-in shower, toiletries, and towels. The room had tea/coffee making facilities , coat hangers and a hair dryer in the desk drawer. We had a fabulous nights sleep, and went down early for breakfast. The host and chef were very accommodating to our breakfast requirements, and through conversation our vegan alternative full Welsh breakfast did not disappoint. It was superb. We had a walk around the area during the evening and had a drink in the pub opposite our hotel which was busy and lively... it was NYE so didn't expect any different. Overall, we had a fabulous time and would definitely love to stay again in the near future.

Drovers Rest is lovely! we stayed in The Cart House which was really spacious, well appointed and so warm! Unfortunately the weather meant we couldn't partake in a farm walk but the fact that it was even an option was wonderful! We had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and the water was hot! We cooked for the two nights we were there and had everything we needed. There is WiFi, games, books and various streaming services on hand if needed. The blackout blinds are a great touch and it is honestly so quiet! Marta was in contact and gave us all the information we needed.

Horse riding available and a great fire warmed pub up the road. Fantastic hosts that we had a lovely chat with, couldn't do enough for us such a great family run place. Brecon is a great little centre for walking with a nice atmosphere and plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants. We live an hours drive away but it is really nice to book for a weekend away and to explore the area, the weather isn’t always kind so staying in Brecon provides for alternatives if necessary.

Merthyr itself is a bit of a depressing town. Lots of empty shops. A nice restaurant near the train station, Casa Bianca. A good shopping centre just outside the main town with a big M&S, a big Boots, Next, TK Max, etc. Merthyr has good roads and it's easy to get to Brecon, Swansea and Cardiff from there.

I don't travel too far from the property, as I am happy with the local context, but if you like travelling out, then there is lots on locally and further out of Llandovery. Lots of stillness, peace and enjoying the natural world. Due to allergies, cooking facilities in the property make it really easy for eating in. Solo and families can enjoy lots of walks. A scattering of independent shops and pubs to enjoy.

Llandeilo is a quaint market Welsh town , steeped in history. it has a good sized Park to walk about, Castle near by, within walking distance. A few interesting shops. A Texaco Petrol station nearby. but no E5 fuel. nearest is in Gorslas, about 15mins drive, 7miles away. We did visit a pub called the White Hart for a big sit down dinner & booked in advance. But found the Pub to be poorly managed & food was pretty poor too. There is another pub/restaurant called The Plough about a mile away. excellent food & Drink choices. Good sized car park & very open. Friendly staff and very attentive. Llandeilo is worth getting out & walking around, has narrow streets & you will miss something quaint & important. Take a camera too

We unfortunately stay at the pentre riding stables which are not fit to stay in, when we walked in we started to find somewhere else to stay and understand why you don't get a refund because no one would pay to stay here. I walked over the road to the CRAIG-Y- NOS CASTLE. Which is an absolutely beautiful building and the staff are fantastic, unfortunately the had a wedding on so everything was booked. There is one particular young lady who works there, who's birthday was on Saturday May 14. She was absolutely fantastic and so helpful, she does the castle proud unfortunately I don't know her name
