FAQs about hotels in Cotswolds
The Quaint Heart of England
One of England’s most quaint areas, the Cotswolds are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with rolling hills interspersed by picturesque villages with limestone buildings.
From Cirencester to Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold to Stroud, the laidback lifestyle makes this area a great choice for an escape to the country. Booking.com has some fabulous accommodation and, of our range of Cotswolds hotels, luxury and budget alternatives are covered in equal measure.
The largest place is Cheltenham, a wonderful Regency spa town. Neighbouring Gloucester has some well-preserved medieval buildings and an impressive cathedral. Some of the most photographed medieval Cotswolds sights are the Arlington Row almshouses in Bibury. To the east beautiful Burford has a high street going up a hill, Burford Priory country house and the large Cotswolds Wildlife Park just south.
More feathered friends are found in Birdland Park at Bourton-on-the-Water, a lovely village with low bridges spanning its river. Forming a triangle with it are Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Norton, whose former mill and almshouses are worth a look. Broadway to the north-west has a main street in the shade of hills, one of which has a tower from where it’s said you can see 13 English counties!
Wherever you decide to stay, check Booking.com for great Cotswold hotel deals.

- From US$310.11 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,173 reviewsOur room was beautiful, the furniture was lovely, and the wallpaper depicting aristocratic hunting was very nice. The garden is also attractive. The breakfast overlooking the beautiful garden was excellent and well prepared with the best ingredients, and we enjoyed both the full breakfast and the Egg benedict the next day. Dinner was also very very nice. Particularly worth mentioning is that the staffs were very kind, helpful and attentive, but not intrusive. My elderly mother had a great time, thanks to the care and attention of the staffs. We enjoyed the British countryside. I would definitely like to visit again.Guest review byHiromiJapan
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,110 reviewsI loved the many quaint secluded seating areas, being able to have a drink al fresco and walk barefoot in the beautifully manicured gardens. Dinner at the Grill by James, Martin was also a highlight, the food was amazing, every single dish blew me away. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, especially Marzena at reception who took the time to show me around, explain some of the features and inclusions as well as help me find my room. Marzena also checked in with me after I settled in, she showed a genuine level of care towards me which is so comforting as I was travelling solo.Guest review byKristaAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 762 reviewsThe location was wonderful - very close to some beautiful Cotswold towns and villages, and there were lovely lake walks right on the doorstep. The staff were also lovely and very friendly. It’s a great place to bring the dog - they provided a dog bed and dog bowl, as well as advice on nearby walks. The room itself was very clean and comfortable.Guest review byJing-YiNetherlands

Molton Brown toiletries a real bonus. Breakfast was splendid, as was dinner on the one night in which I dined in. Beautiful grounds and location. But what made it for me was the staff: courteous and friendly, impeccable service and some of the best hotel staff I have encountered.Guest review byMarkChina

The Old Courthouse Pub - go upstairs to see the old courtroom (available for event hire) and the toilets used to be the prisoners' cells (& rumoured to be haunted!). The Turkish Kitchen - great food, good value & very peasant staff.Guest review byMike ChagouriUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It's a lovely village as has numerous nearby villages that are definitely worth visiting. We were looking to have a chat with locals in a pub and weren't disappointed. Everyone we met was friendly to us and we certainly enjoyed the various village pubs we visited. We particularly liked the Blue Boar in Chipping Norton (sitting outside basking in the sun) and Chequers at Churchill - great atmosphere with good food and service. Also close to Diddly Squat and Farmer's Dog which we visited and were lucky enough to meet Gerald at the Farm shop. We didn't go into the shop or the pub but as a visitor we enjoyed the alternate experiences available.Guest review bySandraAustralia - 10.0

Our stay in Stow-on-the-Wold was charming and peaceful – cobbled streets, cosy tea rooms, and friendly locals at every turn. We wandered through antique shops, enjoyed hearty pub meals, and soaked in the Cotswolds’ timeless beauty. The perfect blend of relaxation and little adventures. Oh, and the cocktails! 🍸 We’ll definitely be back.Guest review byJonnyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Bourton is a beautiful place, although suffers as a result as it's very busy. There are some good food and drink options, although the majority of shops seem to offer the same tourist-trap tat. Come in the off-season.Guest review byJimJammingUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Excellent base for exploring the Cotswolds.
Excellent base for exploring the Cotswolds. Easily reached by train. Accomodations mostly in historical buildings along the (busy) main road. Large supermarkets and a lot of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Especially loved cocktails in the garden of the Manor House, breakfast and excellent coffee at Lynnwood and generous portions of italian at Bellinis.Guest review byKrystaNetherlands - 8.0

Stroud was not the focus of our trip, but since you ask I'd say that its former condition was probably rather better than its current condition. It doesn't do well when compared with Cirencester which really is a town worth visiting. Stroud is pleasant enough and good for shopping. Traffic is reasonableGuest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 6.0
The Thames is stunning and worth a stroll along.
The Thames is stunning and worth a stroll along. Sit and watch the birds, fish, boats, dragonflies, and people enjoying themselves. The Rose Revived Public House and Restaurant is not for fine dining but you can have a wonderful meal and a lovely drink in nice surroundings. The willows and gardens are lovely. The waitresses like Ella are well trained and full of life.Guest review byNicholas - 10.0

I believe Chipping Campden to be overall the best location in the Cotswolds. It has everything you need including pubs, a cocktail bar, restaurants, shops, a small mini-market, and the high street is picturesque and atmospheric. Just a lovely little town with great access to the rest of the Cotswolds. Da Luigi Italian restaurant is a particular find, with wonderful food and very friendly service.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom
