FAQs about hotels in Dorset
Southern English Natural Charm
With one of the highest proportions of conservation areas in England, the Dorset County includes 2 ‘Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ covering more than half of its territory. It is also famous for the ‘Jurassic Coast’, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that actually represents three-quarters of the county’s coastline.
Considering that half of the population lives in the south-east of the county, Dorset is characterised by an enchanting countryside atmosphere. Languid limestone hills and clay valleys cover a big part of its surface. Loads of Dorset hotels and inns are spread throughout this area.
Shaftesbury is one of the most picturesque towns, rolling down the hill with old rural houses. A visit to the chief town of Dorchester and its County Museum is a must. Check out some of the Dorset boutique hotels located in old refurbished manor houses, and spread throughout the county.
The Jurassic Coast runs along 155 km. It includes magnificent formations like the Lulworth Cove and the Durdle Door arch, plus the Isle of Portland with Chesil Beach and its large tidal lagoon.
The cities of Weymouth, Poole, Bournemouth, and Christchurch are located along its coasts. Experience this charming piece of England, don’t miss the Booking.com special offers for Dorset hotels.

Dorchester is a quaint town that is always a pleasure to visit. It has a brilliant market and there are plenty of shops to visit. It it well served with different museums and the Tutankhamun and Terracotta Army ones are a definite visit for me. There are also plenty of cafes to have some amazing food.Guest review byAnnetteUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lovely place for a weeks holiday, Swanage has many eating places, sometimes pricey. And the good ones are all reserved quickly. So you have to be quick! Durston park was very good for a walk which is nearby. Corfe Castle too steep for us. The steam train quite expensive for only a few miles from Swanage.Guest review byhcUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lyme is a lovely town, with lots of places to visit in town and the surrounding area. There are lots of places to eat, but some weren't open on Mondays and Tuesdays and even out of season they were busy, so you might want to book before you go. I liked the Lyme Bay and the Pilot Boat pubs, though not cheap eats.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Staying in a place on the pier was nice: we barbecued there while the kids were crabbing. The place itself is a little outdated, many closed restaurants (in a bank holiday weekend in august...) but we had a car there so we went elsewhere. Beautiful little beach, cosy flee market on sunday.Guest review byDirkBelgium - 10.0

Blandford Forum had a lovely park with a large waterlily pond (would be so amazing to visit this in May or whenever the lilies flower!) and a pleasant river walk . The town had a nice place to have a drink (The Crown Hotel) and a Morrisons which was convenient as well as some coffee shops and small unusual shops. There were some lovely charity shops and the town was a welcome refuge from the more busier places we could have visited. I went to the fashion museum. It was a pleasant small town.Guest review byMagentaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Location was fantastic, in the centre of town.
Location was fantastic, in the centre of town. Owners were fabulous - friendly, helpful, and flexible The cottage was beautiful - very clean, nicely furnished, all necessary kitchen appliances on hand, start up food items supplied by the owners without any request from ourselves and at no added cost. This included milk, butter, coffee, tea, milk, bread.Guest review byJudith RobertsonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Portland is great for a weekend of walking as the paths round the island are well signposted and very scenic. The Art cafe in Easton was great with delicious cakes and a secret garden. We walked back into Weymouth along the old railway line, which is recommended.Guest review byRachelUnited Kingdom - 8.0
