- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 322 reviewsCaravan was spotless and beds very comfortable (also loved the “is it me you’re looking for” gift of essentials that I did actually forget to bring with me! Van heats up really quick and everything was easy to use (I always struggle with gas appliances but these worked first time every time) bedding was provided but no towels. Caravan park itself if great, very clean, everyone is pleasant and happy to help, there’s a play park (well maintained) a bar (reasonably priced drinks and bar snacks and an arcade attached to it for the kids and big kids) and shop/reception (where you check in, the shop part is pretty basic, more for “oh I forgot xyz” so I’d pop to a supermarket for all your bits) within walking distance (7mins to be precise) of an inn for all day food and drinks, there’s fields surrounding caravan park with sheep, goats and horses, there’s rabbits everywhere (daughter was obsessed with those and spent hours looking for and counting them) 20-30 mins drive and you can go to dalscone park or Mabie farm park.Guest review byKimberleyUnited Kingdom

There is lots to do in and around Dumfries.
There is lots to do in and around Dumfries. The Museum with Observatory was interesting, although the Camera Obscura was closed due to rain. Due to its age, it doesn't operate in the rain. Had a lovely walk along the River Nith which runs through the centre. Lots of charity shops if you are interested in them. Several indoor play centres if you are travelling with children. Unfortunately some places had reduced opening hours / days in October, so check before you leave; we missed the Aviation Museum. Loved Dalscone Farm Fun.Guest review byMelvynUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Anything you could need for the weekend was on the doorstep.
Anything you could need for the weekend was on the doorstep. If you love walking, I would recommend the walk to the Solway Coast, really peaceful. From Bojangles guest house you can walk to all amenities maximum 10 minutes. There are no Taxis, however we were offered a lift to Gretna Station by our Host. There are bus stops and regular buses into Carlisle. Carlisle has all the bigger brand shops. We ate out at The Solway Hotel. Very nice food.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Such a lovely traditional Scottish town with great little local and varied businesses. A friendly town for dogs and people. Beautiful countryside on the doorstep with some great dog walking areas on the doorstep. We loved it so much we’d like to move there!Guest review byHelenUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Portpatrick is a small village by the sea.
Portpatrick is a small village by the sea. Most hotels are within a short walking distance of the harbour. There are cliffs on either side of the seafront that provide stunning views of the Irish sea and on a good day Mallin Head in Ballycastle and the Mourne Mountains can be seen (both in Northern Ireland). I was expecting there to be the standard takeaways but there seemed to be only one fish and chip shop that closed in the late afternoon. The Waterfront Hotel provided a great meal every evening though. The bus service is poor in this part of the world so I had to go all the way up to Ayr to hire a car.Guest review byDuncanUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Lovely part of Scotland that is greatly overlooked
Lovely part of Scotland that is greatly overlooked Newton Stewart is a great base for exploring the wider area with good cycle path along River Cree down to Wigton. Area is fantastic for cycle touring.Loved the quiet roads on the Machar down to and around Isle of Whitehorn/ Port William, parts of the cycle route to Gatehouse on Fleet and used a car to get to different start points to explore around Kirkcudbright and Dalbeattie, and around Mull of Galloway( northern section especially lovely sea views to Ailsa Craig). Sadly not impressed with parts of Sustrans routes (poorly maintained or shocking surface for road bikes on sections of the signed route thro Cally Palace and to Gatehouse before Creetown, and parts of old Military Road seemed v neglected. We even returned on part of A75 to avoid the worst sections of this route around Stronord!) Great ride from Stranraer to Girvan via New Luce and Barrhill and caught the train back-the train ride alone is an experience to enjoy. We enjoyed days of carefree cycling thanks to some great weather. Really appreciated the efforts to make this part of Scotland cycle friendly and safe. It was good to see others enjoying the same.Guest review byALISONUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Threave nature reserve is wonderful to walk around and observe wildlife. Gatehouse has great eating and drinking places and the SPAR has everything you might need. Castle Douglas has good food shopping. Moss Yard beach is a must for families and dog walkers. The Raiders Road forest drive is fabulous as it passes the Mare’s Tail , the deer park and Otters falls along the way , a magical drive by the river. A beautiful rural unspoilt area of West Scotland.Guest review bySallyUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Value for money? better than, helpful staff? excellent.
Value for money? better than, helpful staff? excellent. For a hotel in such a busy area with the amount of footfall it receives, it is a very well kept property. It was early March on our visit and to wake up in the morning with a view across the lake it surpassed our expectations. It is easy to recommend the Days Inn at Lockerbie.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 10.0
