FAQs about hotels in Kent
The Peaceful Garden of England
The so-called Garden of England, Kent is known for its lush greenery. Although within easy reach of London, it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle. So much so, that at many Kent hotels, spa facilities come as standard. One is, unsurprisingly, in the sophisticated spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells.
Nearby in Lamberhurst is medieval Scotney Castle, surrounded by a moat. Also moat-bound and with Kent accommodation available on Booking.com are Hever Castle and Leeds Castle (the latter in a village not to be confused with the city of Leeds).
The county town is Maidstone, but its most famous city is Canterbury, whose magnificent cathedral is the seat of the Church of England’s highest post. Rochester also has an impressive cathedral.
To the west is Margate, one of the top Kent seaside towns. Other resorts with long beaches are Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Deal. Around the coastline, Dover is known for its white cliffs, castle and the ferries crossing the English Channel to France. To the west is the Channel Tunnel by Folkestone, and Eurostar trains from St Pancras also stop at Ashford inland.
Other popular Kent attractions are the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, Brands Hatch motor racing circuit, and the conical oast houses so typical of this part of England.

We booked an overnight stay as we have stayed at the hotel before several times and found that it’s a good central location for the harbour etc. the buffet was disappointing. It was much better the previous time we stayed. The food was not enjoyable. We enjoyed the evening entertainment, so we will return and skip the buffet dinner.Guest review byDebbieUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We found people we came into contact with friendly and helpful, particularly at the hotel,on the boat trip we had and particularly at a restaurant called Marlowe’s just opposite the hotel, lovely food and delightful staff. Getting round the city on foot is easy,by car it’s more problematicalGuest review byJudithUnited Kingdom - 4.0
It was cheap and the location good with free car parking!
It was cheap and the location good with free car parking! However the soap dispenser was empty, the toilet was broken, lights in both the bathroom and main room were not working, electric socket were not working and television reception was appalling so could not be watched! Obviously the room 'had not been checked by anyone' for some time which is worrying. The top of the toilet cistern had come off exposing various attempts with toilet rolls etc to secure the operation of the main handle to no avail, I assume this had been done by staff!Guest review byBRIANUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Debbie is an excellent hostess - her breakfast spread is above par in presentation, taste and portions. She has a bubbly character and is generally very concerned with each guest's comfort during the stay and appetite at the breakfast table. The rooms were spacious and well equipped with snacks and toiletries. Should I need to be in the Ashford area, I will definite choose her B&B for the entire duration of my stay.Guest review byAndrew LW LeeSingapore - 10.0

The Dover Castle was lots of fun and was well organized for visitors of all ages. The war tunnels on the other hand were poorly organized and should be reorganized in order to help make them more interesting. The films on the walls explaining the historical events were difficult to understand due to the echo. The significance of the tunnels could be made more hands on for the younger generation to grasp. The Cliffs of Dover- easily a days experience and excellent hike and picnic opportunities along the way.Guest review byEllenIsrael - 10.0
Tunbridge Wells, is much bigger than I thought.
Tunbridge Wells, is much bigger than I thought. Great that it is surrounded by lots of green lush space. The Palatines were a little disappointing but appreciate that it comes to life in warmer months and at night. The shops were a little different too. Quite hilly so bear that in mind if you have mobility issues. A great place to explore surrounding places. Missed out on Scotney Castle due to high winds.Guest review byKarenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

My wife and I were born and brought up in Kent, so think it's special, even though we moved away years ago. Margate has developed extensively on the back of the Turner gallery, but there is also much to admire off the beaten track, particularly as the once-tired traditional seaside resorts, like Folkestone become more popular. Less well advertised attractions like the Wildwood Trust or the Brogdale National Heritage fruit tree collection are well worth a visit. Towns like Faversham and Whitstable have managed to retain their traditional feel with small specialist shops,Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We had a lovely time and found lovely places to eat.
We had a lovely time and found lovely places to eat. They catered for our special needs of glutton free for us all. Lafayette's food lovely and all welcoming and helping to give us the correct food for our particular needs which are many. Nothing was too much trouble. In really nice surroundings so went there three times in two days. Enjoyed going to the Shell Grotto very interesting and the Crab Museum great for the kiddies.Guest review byCarolUnited Kingdom - 6.0

The room itself was clean and tidy. Once in the room found the tv wouldn't work properly and bought the staff up and they couldn't get it to work either. The onsite restaurant was under renovation so no dinner or Breakfast though there was an eatery next door bar one and the food was lovely thereGuest review byJimmy CUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Fairly quiet, enough to keep us interested. Loved the Pavilion and the new bar/restaurant nearby on the beach. There was a lovely coastal path walk to Broadstairs. We appreciated the quiet whereas Broadstairs was rammed!Guest review byJoannaUnited Kingdom
