FAQs about hotels in Loch Lomond
A Real Jewel of the Scottish Highlands
Set amongst the hills and mountains of the Scottish Highlands, Loch Lomond is one of the country’s largest lakes featuring over 30 islands and surrounded by lush greenery and picturesque villages. Immortalised by a 19th-century song "The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond", this majestic lake is part of Scotland’s first national park.
Start your journey at Balloch, where you can get on a direct train from Glasgow in less than an hour. Popular with tourists, the town has plenty to offer; from Loch Lomond Shores, a complex mixing leisure and shopping opportunities to Balloch Castle Country Park, ideal for a pleasant walk.
You can catch a boat going up the Loch Lomond and admire the lake and the surrounding mountains, including the highest peak, Ben Lomond, at 974 metres. Just 12 km from Balloch, there is the small village of Drymen, a popular stop for hikers with what is claimed to be the oldest pub in Scotland, The Clachan.
The area of Loch Lomond is great for hiking, golfing and water sports, making it a perfect destination for those into the outdoors or sports activities. Visiting the lake’s largest island, Ichmurrin, is also a must, the views from there are truly unforgettable!

Nothing to do with the location ..but..the bus from Buchanan bus station dropped us off on the outskirts of Balloch on a very busy duel carriageway..which took ages to cross safely..why don't they terminate in Balloch's own bus station...much safer as we had to walk 15 mins to get to our accomodation in rough tarain... I'd hate to think of elderly people having to endure this ... shocked to be honest...nothing to do will The Tillie Inn..maybe something should be changed to prevent this.as it has put me off getting the bus...Guest review byTownsley - 10.0

I took a fishing rod and on the first night had bbq mackerel on the banks of Loch lomand as its very close. The hills are walking distance from the hotel so on the second day we walked up Ben ime. The views are spectacular if you have not been to the west of Scotland you willl be impressed and the location is so close to Glasgow, difficult to believe a large city is so close.Guest review byDr BeeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Luss is a quaint little town with not many facilities but a useful local store. We were there for the Highland Games which were a fabulous life experience. The loch is gorgeous and the surrounding mountains are stunning.Guest review byCynthiaUnited States - 10.0
Lodge was fantastic.
Lodge was fantastic. Staff were very welcoming and nothing was an issue. It was nice and peaceful. I'd have stayed a lot longer if I could. Everything you need is literally on the doorstep. Staff at the village shop were lovely and even took our photo as we just got married the day we arrived. Chris was very welcoming anytime we needed anything from the wee shop.Guest review byHand - 10.0

There's not much in Tarbet, apart from the Hotel and a good restaurant, but its convenient for the Loch, and its on a junction of the main roads, so there's good access to other parts. There is a bus stop that the long distance bus services stop at. Loch boat trips depart from the pier. The Tarbet Hotel is a great place to stay. The Kirk 'o the Lochs is a good place to eat.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We expected it to be nice but when we arrived we were simply blown away by the lodge and the peaceful park it is based in. The lodge was spacious and clean and had everything a family needed for a relaxing break. The bedrooms were great and the shower and bath facility was also top class. The WiFi was as good as anywhere I've ever stayed and the park with private beach was truly spectacular. We couldn't recommend this place more if we tried and will be coming back every year as the owner was very helpful and friendly as well.Guest review byGaryUnited Kingdom - 8.0

What a place to rest and recouperate from the West Highland Way. Right from the start, where we were picked up to save us walking up the steep hill, we were treated to probably our best evening of the whole walk. The food in the evening was amazing, worthy of a high standard restaurant, and this continued to breakfast and our packed lunch the following day. Would definitely plan a WHW itinerary around stopping here. Great service from all and would love to visit again.Guest review byBrendanUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Close to Balloch but far enough away from too many tourists.
Close to Balloch but far enough away from too many tourists. Has a station close by for easy access to Glasgow. Local shops in easy reach for picnic provisions. Good restaurants in Balloch such as Cucina and The Pier.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The view and cottage is to die for.
The view and cottage is to die for. But facilities need to improve for a self catering nature of stay. It mentions Ardlui group of Hotels, but when we reached at 6 pm the hotel staff said they had nothing to do with the property. We spend a tense half hour before the actual person in charge could be contacted.Guest review byDhritipriyaIndia
