- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 84 reviewsEverything was perfect ! Jane and Dave are very welcoming and gentle. The room was perfect ! The private bathroom outside the room is just in front of the room in a calm part of the house. As arrived a little late to go out for diner. Jane indicated me that a little set to have a little bite with my food was available. And a mini bar is available in the commun area with different kind of drinks (price very ok) and with Harris gin ! A very nice attention with a little jar of whisky of the day is waiting for you in your room. All the commun area were very Cosy. the bed is like a cloud. And the breakfast is incredibly wonderfully tasty and freshly cooked. And the view !! If yo got lost with your gps, use the localisation from booking it is the good one. Jane has plenty of really good tips to give on the island.Guest review byCécileBelgium

- From US$195.33 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 152 reviewsThe owner is a wonderful host. On our tour around Scotland this was our favorite accommodation. This is due to the lovely owner, comfortable room, the dram of Scotch she had in our room when we arrived, the beauty of Stornoway and Margo’s wonderful breakfast. We didn’t want to leave.Guest review byBettyCanada

There’s not much to see and do in Stornoway but it is an excellent base for exploring Lewis and Harris. It was easy to reach the main tourist spots of Ness, Callanish, Carloway and Gearrannan Blackhouse Village. Also not far to experience the stunning scenery of Harris including the famous Luskentyre Beach. In Stornoway itself, the walk to the Iolaire Monument and the visit to the Lewis Castle Museum were both worth doing. The best place for lunch was Lantair.Guest review byIsobelUnited Kingdom - 2.0

Whoever the owner is of this establishment is he should realise that a manager cannot run the place on his own even in quiet times. The managers approach to his job was perfect and his commitment to the customer was faultless. A person like him could find a job anywhere in the hotel trade these days as their are opportunities by the thousand everywhere. Just shocked to see him serve, clean rooms, do the drinks, serve breakfast and do all the computer work and probably lots of things i could'nt see. Seemed like exploitation to meGuest review byChris - 10.0

The house is wonderful as are the people who look after it - nothing is too much trouble if you have a query or need help with something The property is in a little place called Maraig rather than in Tarbert which is about 15 minuts drive away so trust the post code when it takes you off the Tarbert road!Guest review byAnneUnited Kingdom - 8.0

It’s an ideal location to explore the island with a fascinating history. There’s a cafe, but I didn’t try it. It’s a place going through a change now, with a lot of young trees growing and some pretty gardens.Guest review byStephenUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The Uist Islands were lovely.
The Uist Islands were lovely. We were very fortunate to catch the North Uist Highland Games in mid-July. This is an area for gentle walks and birding. Dining options are good but limited. Definitely a place to unwind.Guest review byFrederickUnited States - 10.0

For us it was the spectacular views, peace and quiet away from everybody. It’s so easy to get around the islands but you have to travel some miles to get to places to eat, which is not a problem in such a beautiful place.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Stornoway is an interesting little town with Lews castle and grounds well worth a visit. It is a very good starting point to explore some of the island-places to visit include Callanish standing stones, the Black House, the Black House village and the broch, all of which are on the one road that leads directly out of Stornoway. There is also Harris to visit and famous and stunning beaches, but we ran out of time !Guest review byHazelUnited Kingdom - 8.0
All towns in Outer Hebrides are very small.
All towns in Outer Hebrides are very small. Daliburgh is a great location close enough to multiple harbours and on the main road. The shop has exceptionally long opening hours and is well stocked (Co-op). Buses are running too and fairly frequently. Good walks nearby.Guest review byJanaUnited Kingdom
