After not being to Brighton for almost ten years we decided to see if f it was still as friendly and vibrant as we remembered , it was many of the places we used to visit may have changed management but were still as enjoyable , we will most certainly return again soon and we intend to stay at The Seaspray in the Eden suite again too. A short walk from the hotel was a small very popular Italian restaurant where we dined more than once , great food and a great price , The Marine Tavern again just a short stroll was as friendly and welcoming as we found it to be those years ago we are a heterosexual married couple in our 60’s The Marine Tavern is a small LGBTQ pub and we can honestly say we were made most welcome and the entertainment which was free was excellent .The Lanes both North and South were bustling and vibrant very few shops were boarded up unlike many other cities . We walked along the promenade and went on the pier which were very clean and well kept.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Eastbourne is the best resort along the East Sussex coast.
Eastbourne is the best resort along the East Sussex coast. It has a long promenade to walk, mostly away from the traffic. The pier is free although looking a bit tired currently. There are still things to do in October and we enjoyed the extensive Land Train ride to the Harbour and Holywell. There is an Open top Sightseeing tour that is well worth doing and you can hop off at Beachy Head, Birling Gap or East Dean village - all worth doing. Eastbourne is clean and well kept, with garden areas along the front . It is a shame the famous carpet gardens have gone though. The council have started charging £1 for the toilets along the front. Very few seem to use them. There are free ones on the pier and at the theatre complex,. The Beach Deck cafe is really handy - near the seafront redoubt tower.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Hastings is full of fascinating places to see and things to do. We'd recommend all of the ones we got to, and there were plenty we didn't get to. The Castle, funicular, shipwreck museum, Hastings Contemporary and a wander around the Old town's 'twittens' are all a must. The Smugglers Caves adventure is fun - family focused but we did learn a lot! It was really interesting to see a boat coming in and winched up onto the beach too.Guest review byKarenUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Rye is ye olde & quaint, with half-timbered houses & cobbled streets. A photographer’s dream! Steep in places. Lamb House, NT, is interesting, with pretty garden. Leave the car in any car park to explore properly.Guest review byMadelineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lewes is very good as a place to stay if you are interested in history or just like browsing local shops. It also has excellent railway connections so you can get to Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and up into Sussex by public transport. It is hilly and a good base if you want to explore the South Downs by walking. A good range of restaurants, pubs and cafes too.Guest review bypilly03United Kingdom - 10.0

We went to the English Heritage 1066 re enactment weekend and also visited Hastings where we had lived in the past. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs, some small independent retailers, and antiques. in Battle. The Abbey and museum are also worth a visit. . There is easy parking even on a busy weekend. It has easy access from the A21 linking up to M25.Guest review byGillianUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The spa was very well apportioned and it was very quiet and secluded. The staff throughout the hotel were extremely pleasant. One thing they must do in the restaurant is ensure that the wine ordered has arrived and ready to drink before the food is served. It is not good form to serve the food without the wine bottle even being at the table, let alone not opened.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 10.0
