The Old Bell is a magnificent hotel, with great service and charming rooms. But most of all we were surprised by the extraordinary quality of the dinner. The chef at The Old Bell served us a tasting menu which was of Michelin star quality! In the reviews we saw that some people complained about the 'small portions'. Therefor a warning: if your definition of 'gastronomy' is to eat as much as possible: don't go there! This is a place for people looking for top quality, not quantity...

Parts of the town aren’t great - rather run down, lots of empty shops - but the area round the market and St Thomas church is very good. We also found a superb breakfast at The Orangery. Walking by the river is pleasant too. And of course the cathedral is wonderful, although so is St Thomas church with its superb Doom painting and modern font and altar.

It's a great town with many interesting shops and places to eat and drink. It has a good vibe about the place. We found an excellent French cafe/restaurant which was very good . We would have gone back for dinner but it was closed on Monday evenings. Pity.

A wonderful historic town well worth a visit for a few days. Also an easy commute to Bath via the City's park and ride scheme. Short term car parks are small and often full. However, a very large, longer term car park is located at the railway staion in Zone B. All car parks are free in the evening from 6pm.

Chippenham is a lovely market town with a great balance of charm and convenience. It’s a quiet and peaceful place, perfect for a relaxing stay, yet still has plenty of shops, cafés, and restaurants. The location is ideal for exploring nearby attractions such as Bath,Lacock, and the Cotswolds. The town feels welcoming and safe, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes it a great base for both short visits and longer stays.

Warminster is a perfect location to see the many sites the area has to offer, the local train station is convenient to Bath, Bristol and Salisbury all worth a visit for a day. We went out twice for an evening meal, The Lamb at Hindon and The Prince Leopald at Upton Lovell, food was fantastic, but make sure you book ahead it can get really busy.

    The place was utter perfection.

The place was utter perfection. Pat and Rowena's design sensibilities throughout the Old Library were exceptional. And then to be greeted by peacocks in the morning, in this idyllic location..it was the perfect end to a three week trip. The walk into Castle Combe was delightful-I had thought the village would be the highlight, but I have to say my accommodations for the evening rivalled even the lovely town..
