- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 88 reviewsWhere do I even begin? Staying at Chrysalis Boutique Hotel in Astypalea was hands down the best travel experience of my life. This place is not just a hotel — it’s a whole vibe, a feeling, a memory I’ll treasure forever. From the moment I arrived, everything felt taken care of. The hotel offers a shuttle service from the port or airport, which made things super smooth. And from there… it just kept getting better. The views are absolutely insane — like movie-scene levels of gorgeous. The hotel itself is spotless, beautifully designed, and just radiates peaceful energy. It’s also perfectly located: super close to the center, but quiet enough that you still feel like you're in your own private little Greek paradise. You can walk to town or take the local bus (they even help you set it up on your phone — shoutout to that next-level guest service!). Speaking of the team: Giannis is hilarious, super helpful and full of great local tips. And the rest of the staff? Kind, thoughtful, always making sure you're happy. I was traveling solo and they made me feel so cared for — never once alone. There were little surprises too, like a beautiful rosé wine with fresh fruit left in my room halfway through my stay... just because. Who does that? They do. Because they care. Honestly, if I could rate it 11/10, I would. It’s not just a hotel — it’s an experience, and one I wish I could bottle up and carry with me everywhere. To the entire team at Chrysalis: thank you for making me feel so welcome, so seen, and so special. You made this solo traveler feel like she had a whole family waiting for her in Astypalea. I’m already dreaming of coming back.Guest review byCarlaMexico
- From US$66.56 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 48 reviewsThe room was clean, tidy, nicely-decorated and comfortable with all kitchen amenities. The hostess, Mrs. Froso, was very kind and hospitable. The room offered no breakfast but some fresh juice, milk, coffee and other products were available that was perfect for a light morning snack! Mrs Froso also facilitated our late departure from the room which allowed us to enjoy our last day in the island. The room was cleaned daily and we also got fresh towels. Not many studios in Greece offer all these services and hospitality! The room has a nice little patio but the inner yard of the property may get a bit noisy. Still though with the windows shut, the room is very quiet and cool. The room is in a village called Livadi very close to Chora and just right next to the beach! The restaurant next to the rooms is excellent too with delicious Greek and local food/products and very friendly staff.Guest review bySofiaGreece
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.9Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 42 reviewsAegean Sea Villas is an exceptional place to stay. The owners are very nice, kind, friendly and helpful people, they care about all the details, it was really a pleasure for us to meet with all. Great hospitality. Very well equipped kitchen and bathrooms, extremely clean house, breathtaking view of the sea and Chora from our terrace. Only a few mintes walk from Livadi beach, restaurants, supermarkets. We also rent a car from our owner, it was so easy, he takes care of everything about the car. I believe they deserve more than "10" on booking :) We will definitely come back :)Guest review byİDİLTurkey

Feeling of privacy and a very welcoming staff. The pool area is very clean with a great view. We stayed at the Imerovigli suite and the Castelano room. Both are great, but the first was better in our view.Guest review byHaggaiIsrael

Astypalaia town, or Chora, is a true gem of the Aegean.
Astypalaia town, or Chora, is a true gem of the Aegean. Perched on a hillside, it offers stunning panoramic views of the sparkling sea, the picturesque harbor, and the majestic Venetian castle that crowns the town. The town’s white-washed houses, narrow streets, and vibrant bougainvillea create a magical, traditional Greek island atmosphere that is both peaceful and captivating. Visitors will find the iconic windmills just a short walk from the town center, and there’s a wonderful selection of tavernas, cafés, and shops to explore, where you can enjoy authentic local cuisine and hospitality. Whether you're looking to relax and soak up the island's natural beauty, wander the charming streets, or delve into its rich history, Astypalaia town has something for everyone. It’s the perfect blend of culture, relaxation, and scenic beauty, making it an unforgettable destination for all who visit.Guest review byEvangeliaUnited Kingdom - 6.0

The town is built on a very steep hillside, with most of the restaurants and bars at the top. In the summer there is a bus that runs from the beach to the top. If you come by ferry, check the sailing times, as most are middle of the night and the main port is not at Pera Gyalos. The roads leave a lot to be desired.Guest review byMikyTUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Analipsi is a gorgeous village in Astypalea.
Analipsi is a gorgeous village in Astypalea. If you are looking for a relaxed and peaceful stay, a gorgeous clean beach, low key cafes and restaurants (lots of fish dishes and seafood) it is THE perfect place to go. No noisy bikes / scooters. Perfect for couples (not much for children) wanting a stress free break. Car hire would be beneficial to get to the Chora (a 15 minute drive) and enjoy the excellent views, and sample the lovely food. But it is possible to do without a car, using the bus or the "Astybus" which will pick you up on request.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Magical views, great food, good restaurants ( from 1/2$-$-$$) close to Livadi beach ( steep but walking distance) close to port . Cheap taxi service.5€ to get around.Astybus (electric small busses)picks you up where every you are ( cheap). Very friendly locals.Guest review byIngeBelgium - 8.0
Another cute Greek island.
Another cute Greek island. I have been to 15+ Greek islands over 50 times in total. It is similar to many other Greek islands. Small, cute. The castle and the old town looks really lovely. We went in mid-August. Although the island had probably around 5000 visitors, because there are few restaurants and options, all places were packed. Most of my Greek friends consider Astypalaia as the best Greek island, however in my view it's fine, cute, but I wouldn't say it's more beautiful than many other Greek islands.Guest review byokgagoTurkey
