We had a wonderful experience during our stay at Anna Mare! The host was very warm and welcoming, and the complex was luxurious just as the name indicates. All the areas, inside and out were clean and well maintained and had more than enough space for our family of 4. Not to mention the view from our balcony was breathtaking. Our stay at Verano Afytos Hotel was fantastic! The standout feature is undoubtedly the staff—they went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. Their attention to detail and willingness to help at every turn made our trip even more enjoyable. The breakfast was another highlight. The variety of options was impressive, and the pastries from a local store were simply delicious. The pool area was well-maintained, and the staff even brought around ice-cold water during the hottest part of the day, which was a thoughtful touch. The rooms were spotless and well-managed, adding to the overall comfort of our stay. The hotel itself has a laidback and relaxing vibe, perfect for those who prefer a more peaceful environment without the noise and chaos of large groups or parties. It's an ideal spot for unwinding. In terms of location, the closest beach is about a 15-minute walk away. If you're looking for even nicer beaches, you'll need a car, but it's worth the drive.

Mainland Greece at its Best

A 3-pronged peninsula to the south-east of Thessaloniki, Halkidiki is best known for its rolling scenery, beautiful beaches and good watersports.

The westernmost prong is the lively Kassandra peninsula. Sani on its west coast is backed by a pine forest and has beautiful sunsets. On the opposite side, Pefkohori’s fantastic beach and calm, shallow waters make it a popular choice for families. Polichrono and Kalithea to the north have a good selection of Halkidiki hotels on the beach, while Afitos has a picturesque Old Town with cobbled streets.

On the quieter Sithonia peninsula, Metamorfosi is a small village with a Blue Flag beach, while Neos Marmaras has a pretty harbour offering boat trips. On the eastern side Vourvourou is very popular and has lovely views of the offshore islands.

An island just off the Mount Athos peninsula is Amolianí which has rocky coastline and wonderful beaches. Across the water is Ouranoupoli whose small fishing harbour is guarded by a 14th-century tower. On the main part of the Halkidiki region, Stavros and Olympiada both sweep around picturesque bays dominated by the lush Cholomontas mountains.

    Sani Beach is an amazing hotel for families, they have everything to make your holiday most enjoyable. Sandy beaches that star shallow for a long time, kids pool in the shade of the trees, bicycle rental, indoor pool and free sunset cruises. We had a great time and would highly recommend Sani Beach to any family, and the Sani resort to anyone else. It is a very family focusses hotel where the buffet opens at 6pm and other restaurant offer 3-course set menus for kids. The staff were very friendly and everyone was very fluent in English. The food was top notch and the vast space around the hotel gives you plenty of options to choose your favourite pool, beach or hike.

    The place is suitable if you are visiting Greece on budget. It is very crowded and it s a nightmare to find a parking spot. We visited few traditional tavernas( Ouzeri Las Pas,Villa Ella ( has live music) and had very tasty greek dishes :tzatziki , Greek salad, fried zuchini, fried white bait, aubergine salad, grilled sardines, stuffed peppers, chicken souvlaki. The prices are reasonable.

Our host Ivan was exceptional – always ready to help with advice or organize a restaurant reservation, yet discreet and unobtrusive enough to make us feel completely independent, just like at home. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a fruit basket – a kind gesture from the host. The cleanliness and order of the place immediately stood out. It is truly an oasis of peace and enjoyment by the sea. The water is crystal clear, and the beach is beautiful, lively, and full of different attractions. Evenings in Kallithea offer a wide variety of restaurants, bars, and clubs where you can have a wonderful time.     After spending 10 days I am sure about I will never go back to Neos Marmaras. Very noisy and crowded beaches, a lot of people during the night shopping. We went to Platanitsi Wild Beach on daily basis (50km from Neos Marmaras) to avoid this nightmare.

    We loved everything about Polychrono.

    We loved everything about Polychrono. We stayed 3 days total and only wish it had been longer to enjoy our villa more! Waking up every morning and seeing the beautiful lemon, olive and pomegranate trees felt like a dream.

    It very beautiful calm place where you can go as well as with family also with group of friends or even by yourself. There many places to see and enjoy. Beautiful beaches and tasteful restaurants nearby. Perfect place to relax and regain your strength!

    Afytos is by far the most beautiful place in this part of Greece. Unlike other nearby towns, it carries a unique history and a special vibe that you simply don’t find elsewhere. The distinctive architecture, with its charming mix of stone and wood, gives the village character, while the narrow streets create an authentic atmosphere that feels timeless. Walking through Afytos is like stepping into another world, one that is rich, welcoming, and truly unforgettable.

    Decent place to swim and sunbathe, although among the dirtiest I've seen in Greece. The dirt in the sand is never collected, and people vacationing here are not among the most educated, considering the very low prices. It's weird that not even private beach owners (renters?) bother to clean up the sand at their location. The city is always full of cars, and more seem to be coming every minute. I have never seen so many people driving around such a small place in so many cars. The good news is that all the streets are one way, although you'll see a lot of cars going the wrong way, so be careful, especially at the intersections. Also, there is no genuine Greek taverns in the area, only fast food restaurants. This is literally a food industry, with all restaurants craming tables one on top of another to seat as many customers as possible for the shortest amount of time possible. You can eat good food if you follow Google Maps ratings, but don't expect an authentic experience. It's just business. On the plus side, the restaurants are among the cheapest in Greece, which might explain the kind of people vacationing here and their habits (throwing garbage right next to them, never considering the bins nearby).

    Sarti is definetly forever in my heart, it is a city where our family returns inconditionally every year. The place is amazing, beaches are wonderful, landscapes are amazing. Too bad that year by year it became too crowded

    Nice beaches nearby (we explore them by Paddle board but there are also 600 boats to rent for a day trip). The city beach is not blue water and seems more like a lake, but there are many other possibilities at the place.
