FAQs about hotels on Mykonos
The Exclusive Party Island
The ‘Island of Wind’, Mykonos is best known for its 16th-century windmills, good watersports and outrageous nightlife.
The capital is liberal Mykonos Town (or Chora), where windmills overlook beautiful Little Venice with whitewashed houses right on the water. Keep an eye out for Petros the Pelican – the island’s mascot - by the beach. The sunsets here are fantastic, but it’s after dark that the bars and clubs (including famous Cavo Paradiso) on its cobbled streets kick into life. This is the de facto Greek party island, but unlike less exclusive counterparts Malia and Faliraki, you might struggle to find cheap Mykonos hotels here.
A complete contrast is laidback Kalafati, popular with windsurfers. Good for surfing is Ornos, while next door Aghios Ioannis was the setting for the ‘Shirley Valentine’ film. Its sandy beach offers views of uninhabited Delos island whose archaeological sites are UNESCO World Heritage listed.
Elia has the longest beach, while around the coast is Platis Gialos, a popular resort with a good number of Mykonos hotels on the beach on Booking.com. Glass-bottomed boats departing from here give great views of local sealife.
Cruise ships dock at Tourlos and the turquoise waters of neighbouring Aghios Stefanos are sheltered by low hills. Inland, peaceful Ano Mera provides a taste of more traditional Mykonos life.

- From US$705.07 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,099 reviewsAll the staff members were amazing. I was having some difficulty with getting my VPN to connect and the GM spent almost half an hour working on it - and got it to work!!! We are vegan and while there wasn't an abundance of vegan options (which is the norm), all the food was exceptional and the vegan options were creative, not the same boring fare as in many places. The concierge, Eleanora, organized a truly wonderful catamaran cruise for us with Mykonos Sailing - and 90% of the meal they served was vegan when they heard that we were going to be there. And everyone, including all the non vegans, loved the food. There were no leftovers. The cruise and its crew were WONDERFUL. St John's shuttle busses into Mykonos Town were great - on time and well-organized. Our room was really clean and spacious, with a separate sitting area and a lovely balcony with a table and 2 chairs overlooking the Aegean Sea. The double-vanity bathroom was huge with a bathtub and shower and a separate shower with a wide sunroof. The location of the hotel was perfect for us - very close to Mykonos Town and other lovely beaches. There were a lot of sunbeds in different types of settings: some had umbrellas, others had canopies, a few were swings, some had no shading. The property was always very clean. We highly recommend St John!Guest review bySandraUnited States
- From US$342.46 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 943 reviewsI had the pleasure of staying at this hotel during the last week of August with my one-year-old baby, and the experience was truly exceptional. The property itself is stunning, but what elevates the stay to another level is the outstanding team. Every detail was perfectly taken care of, and the staff’s dedication to excellence was evident throughout our stay. A heartfelt highlight goes to Sofiane and Tanos at the beach, whose attentiveness and genuine care made every request effortless, even while traveling with a little one. At the restaurant, the service was equally impeccable – the staff combined professionalism with warmth, ensuring that each meal was not only refined but also family-friendly and welcoming. This stay exceeded all expectations, and I left with the certainty that I will return. A truly unforgettable experience – highly recommended for those seeking both luxury and heartfelt hospitality.Guest review bySofiaPortugal
- From US$107.24 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 489 reviewsThere is nothing you could not love about this hotel! The location is amazing, a ten minute stroll from the ferry Wharf and twenty minute walk into town. The hotel is so beautiful and well cared for and the rooms are stunning, so traditional that I felt like I'd walked onto the set of the movie Mamma Mia! Breakfast was an absolute delight with everything so fresh and tasty and caters to a very large variety of tastes. Saving the best till last - the staff, so warm and welcoming and absolutely nothing was a problem. This is an exceptional hotel and we loved every minute of our stay. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Mykonos, I wouldn't bother looking for anywhere else to stay. There may be a few fancier joints on the island but they wouldn't come close to what The Olia Hotel offers.Guest review byJulieanneAustralia
- From US$375.50 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 245 reviewsThe hotel was beautiful, the beds were extremely comfortable, the location was great, beautiful, crystal clear water and friendly service. We were even able to have a couples massage inside our own hotel room. We loved the direct access from the room via the terrace to the pool/beach/restaurant area. Due to the small size of the hotel, we felt like home as everyone of the staff immediately knew who we were and that we were hotel guests, as opposed to day-visitors.Guest review bySabrinaSwitzerland

The old Mykonos town is beautiful, unfortunately it's been overrun by cruise ships, tourists and wannabe influencers Once you get to the beach you are welcomed with sunbeds at overinflated prices and mediocre food / service. With so many other islands in the Cyclades, my suggestion is to give this one a missGuest review byMy ArhidiaAustralia - 8.0
We're still shocked by the greed of the sunbed providers,...
We're still shocked by the greed of the sunbed providers, with an average sunbed costing 70€ per day! With 3 of us that would have set us back a staggering 3000€ over the 14 days. Even more surprising is the people paying that! If they didn't then simple economics of supply and demand would mean the price getting more sensible. we have never considered factoring in sunbed pricing into our pre-holiday research before but will always now! Thankfully Korfos beach has no sunbeds and yet golden sand so it was a beach towel on the sand job for us. Ornos was very nice but there was also a staggering lack of authentic traditional Greek tavernas, and again people were prepared to pay silly money for expensive eateries facing the beach. Not a place for anyone who wants a sensible priced holiday, but if you're minted then they'll love you there.Guest review byGrahamUnited Kingdom - 8.0

What I liked the most is how accesible the beaches are and how beautiful they are. The water is crystal clear. What I didn't like is how much space the beach clubs take of the beach and how close the sun beds are to each other.Guest review byNataliaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Town centre just a 10 minute bus ride from Manoula’s beach resort which was superb . 10/10 Very clean , comfortable king size bed & great pillows . Staff very friendly & accommodated us to an early check-in after a long day & night of flying. They also gave us a complimentary breakfast on that morning which was superb . The pool over looking the ocean is just amazing & the beach just a short stroll away . Highly recommended !Guest review byRosamariaAustralia - 6.0
The location was great to catch the ferry to Naxos.
The location was great to catch the ferry to Naxos. Sea taxi into Mykonos town and in the town was extremely busy with the people from the cruise ships. Mykonos is beautiful but very expensive. The new port for the ferry’s is a nightmare a free for all with very little help telling you where to go or what to do. I’m glad I’ve experienced it, but I won’t go again.Guest review byAngelaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It's a quiet beach. The sand is clean and very soft.
It's a quiet beach. The sand is clean and very soft. There are no rocks, making it easy to swim or simply walk. You can rent loungers and umbrellas at a reasonable price. Nearby, there is a well-stocked supermarket with options for both sweet and savory food on site, and next to it, there is a café restaurant. There is also a very convenient and professional scooter rental. All the staff are very friendly. To get around Mykonos, it is advisable to rent a scooter to avoid the traffic and queues of numerous cars. I would definitely return and recommend this location for a vacation somewhat away from the noise of the center.Guest review byFerriItaly - 10.0

Ano Mera is a beautiful village away from the expensive lively part of Mykonos. I would definitely recommend a stay here as the square restaurants are not overly expensive and the food is delightful. LGBT friendly beach. Well, mostly men.
LGBT friendly beach. Well, mostly men. Less noisy than Super Paradise. Nudist friendly, great vibes all arround. The only minus is the pricing and conditions because they impose a minimum charge from the bar, that they've never enforced, but still, it's a bit annoying when you already pay 70EUR for 2 sunbeds to also be forced to make a minumum order of 100 EUR from the bar. The beach restaurant is very good.Guest review byCiprian IonescuRomania - 8.0

The location is very peaceful and centre of Mykonos, but slightly away from the Chora, however there was no problem for us since we hired a scooter, and with €6 of petrol we covered almost 60% of the city.Guest review byjituIndia
