I notified the hotel before 3pm on the arrival day that we could not arrive on the island & wished to cancel that night. I’d say 3 days is enough time here. We stayed where we were as it’s close to the beach and amenities, we didn’t travel elsewhere as it was 25 euro each way in a taxi to the port. We did want to get a quad bike but forgot a listener. Id recommend a few days here and also going to another island and a few days in Athens too. We had cocktails and an evening meal every night Naxos Town (Chora) is a 20 minute bus ride away (just 2.30€ one way) and they run half hourly from 8am to midnight. Plaka beach is a 30 minute walk (or on the same bus route from Naxos town). Sunbeds are often linked to the bar/taverna over the road. Only two restaurant options to walk to at night but it has easy access to hill towns and beaches to the south by car. It was very windy in June, less so we were told in September. Near Moutsouna on the eastern coast of Naxos, a small house for two people nestled in the peaceful countryside. In the morning, the sounds of buzzards echo, and you can admire the flights of peregrine falcons in a deep blue sky. In the evening, the bells of goats and sheep create a bucolic atmosphere. Nearby, there are beautiful, secluded sandy beaches (Psili Amnos) and pebble beaches (Azalas). Matthew and Giannis are extremely kind and helpful hosts, welcoming their guests with genuine courtesy and delicious produce from their small garden. We spent 12 truly special days. A wonderful place with so much to see. A peaceful place full of history. Portara is beautiful both day and night, and even more so at sunset. With a few tours, you can reach Delos, a wonderful island full of history! Near the port of Naxos there are very nice restaurants and pubs for all tastes.
