Still a Wonder
Wonderful Rhodes has amazing beaches, nightlife and history. Its capital – Rhodes Town – once boasted the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.
Although sadly no trace of it exists in the harbour, its Old Town is still UNESCO World Heritage listed. This is because of the magnificent Palace of the Grand Master, a 14th-century castle once home to the Knights Hospitaller.
Just around the coast is Faliraki, the nightlife hotspot with clubs, bars and restaurants galore. Afantou and Kolymbia to the south have long, golden beaches, but the island’s crowning glory has to be Lindos. If you arrive by sea, you could be forgiven for thinking that you’ve reached paradise.
Home to some of the best Rhodes hotels, Lindos is a picture-perfect town with whitewashed houses hugging the sides of a hill that is topped with remains of an acropolis. On the other side of the hill is St Paul’s Bay where the apostle’s boat reportedly ran aground.
Lardos and Kiotari further south have a good range of Rhodes hotels by the beach available on Booking.com, while on the other side of the island Kremasti and neighbouring Trianda (also known as Ialysos) have a good range of watersports and quick transfers from Rhodes Airport.

Even though the other hotel was 4 stars and this one is 3, we honestly preferred this one by far! The hotel and room were beautiful, well-maintained, and had a high-quality feel. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. After losing our door card to the wind, we casually asked once for cleaning, and from then on we received fresh towels and cleaning every day — such a nice surprise! The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, and even when some meals weren’t to our taste (understandable with so many nationalities), we always found plenty of delicious options to fill our plates multiple times. Special thanks to Dimitrij and the restaurant staff — they were fantastic and very helpful. The only downsides were the desserts (not really our taste, same as in the first hotel) and the morning coffee. But everything else made up for it. Our room had a view over the pool and the evening animator programs — they looked like a lot of fun! Big thanks to the super cool and easygoing girl at reception who checked us in. Usually I have to confirm and be sure all the wishes I discussed in emails with a venue about a special experience/birthday surprise are going to be carried through - but with Gennadi all was above and beyond expectation with zero work from me! The mille-feuille I asked them to make for Robert's birthday cake was the absolute best I have ever had and in true Gennadi style, they went the extra mile and even put gold flakes on top! We will definitely come back there. We went to other places in Rhodos, but this was far the best concerning money and quality. The beach is phantasic - first there is gras and enough shadow to chill, then you have a sand beach all the way to the water. The beach is just in front of the hotel and it is one of the best beaches - clean and no stones. The hotel is very clean, the breakfast and dinner are super delicious with a lot of choice, the people are friendly and you feel very welcomed, there is a shop in the hotel if you need to buy something, the beach bar is great with delicious fresh made smoothies and great coffee. They even have almond and soya milk, if you don't use cow milk, which is not usual in Rhodos. The Apollo Beach Hotel thought of everything. All you need you will find there. Close enough to Rhodes Old Town to visit regularly if you want. Plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Lively, but not rowdy. As a kitesurfer, it offered me a choice of beaches and kite stations within 25 mins. Also, the sea breeze was pretty reliable most afternoons. My family thoroughly enjoyed the picturesque sunset horse riding that took place just in front of Rainbow Bar. Nice hotel overall, perfect stay for a relaxing holiday! Good location, right next to the beach! Similar hotels in the area are separated from their own private beach by a road, so having the beach right next to the hotel is a greate advantage of this hotel! All-inclusive service was exactly as described: great variety of foods, alcohol free and also alcoholic bevarages are served from 10:00 in the bars (including heavenly frappes!), but on some days champagne was available for breakfast. Snack bar also had a great variety of foods. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, always smiling and kind! We had a great family stay and especially enjoyed the friendly staff, fun pool activities, and the convenient location near the beach. The animation team and pool bar service were highlights of our stay. What we didn’t like was the limited selection of nonalcoholic drinks, the extra cost for water despite having all-inclusive, and the outdated room standard. Note this review is for Stegna, not the main village on the hill. Its really a lovely spot for a beach style holiday. Places for fishing, chilling, enjoying eating, a lovely walk. Perfect chill spot with a family feel. If you are looking for night life and big hotels, this is not the spot for you. All staff amazing except the pool service bar. Not attentive enough, had to go for drinks myself to be told we will come to you then it took at least half an hour! One of the lunches that I ordered eventually turned up and was completely cold, the guy shrugged his shoulders and said it was the kitchens fault! Pefki is a lovely place to stay, much less buisier than Lindos next door which pulls large number of visitors during the day. Main Lee beach is sandy with plentyfull sunbeds, spaces on the eastern side of the beach otherwise. Very Good choice of restaraunts Nikolas and Tsambikos being our favourites. Car hire with full insurance for a week cost us £190 in Pefkos, necessary for conveniance but not essential as there is a good bus sevice along the main east coast road.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

We had a truly wonderful stay at Arfna Villas. The villa is modern, very comfortable and had everything we needed for a perfect holiday. The place was extremely clean and well maintained, which made us feel at home right away. The hosts were amazing, very kind and helpful. They even allowed us to check in early and check out late without any extra charge, which we really appreciated. The villa is located a bit outside of the main town and other nearby areas, so it’s best suited if you rent a car to get around easily. For us this wasn’t a problem and it added to the relaxing atmosphere. Overall, the villa exceeded our expectations and we would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Rhodes.Guest review byPelegIsrael
