FAQs about hotels on Santorini
A Greek Island Dream
Imagine a typical Greek island with whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and sloping cliffs, and the chances are that you’re thinking of Santorini. Protectively curving around 4 other islands in its archipelago, this volcanic island has fertile ground bringing forth lovely rosé wine and some of the sweetest cherry tomatoes you’ll ever taste.
High on a caldera shelving into the sea, the capital Fira overlooks the cruise liners plying the turquoise Aegean waters below. North is Imerovigli, home to several 5-star Santorini hotels with fantastic views.
Also providing amazing views is the accommodation in Oia across the bay. Cascading down the slopes, the sea of white here is only dispersed by vibrant pink flowers, blue domes and the brown of ancient windmills, all becoming black silhouettes as the sun sets.
Santorini Airport is on the other side of the island and 2 resorts south of it – Kamari and Perissa – have the best, black sand beaches. However, the most visually impressive is Red Beach at Akrotiri where the stunning red colour of the caldera and sand makes the trek down the rockface well worth it. Just time it right to avoid high tide! Also near Akrotiri are excavations of a Minoan era settlement.

- From US$749.55 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 146 reviewsOur stay at Kivotos Santorini was excellent! The view was incredible from our hideaway suite and the whole hotel. We had a delicious breakfast every morning that you could choose from multiple options - all very good. The service was second to none. Everything was easy - the front desk arranged private transfers for us throughout our stay and we had communication with them via whatsapp for instant service. When we arrived, we received a very warm welcome and complimentary chilled bottle of wine in our room with other items, and everyone was so friendly throughout our stay. The room was also excellent and was tidied every morning while we were at breakfast. They had an evening service if you wished with a complimentary dessert, too. We really enjoyed our time there and didn't want to leave our suite hardly with the incredible view! I would recommend Kivotos to anyone!Guest review byAdrienneIreland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 220 reviewsThe most magical stay. We were collected at the port and brought to our hotel where staff carried out bags for us. We were welcomed with an arrival drink for check in. Our room was absolutely stunning. So clean and cosy with a complimentary bottle of wine and fruit salad. We were taken on a full tour of the hotel. The pool area was incredible. The staff here are fantastic. Our room has the most gorgeous uninterrupted sunset view. Food here was 10/10 also!Guest review bySiobhánIreland

All of the staff went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The weather wasn't great so the staff helped us fill our days with with recommendations and they didn't dissappoint. We got to do so many things and see so much of the Island. The hotel was beautiful with beautiful views. A short walk to the center . Our room was facing the volcanos and was very peaceful.Guest review byAlanIreland
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 241 reviewsThe best sunset view in Santorni and the suites are really amazing and quiet, excepcional for couples and with a worldclass restaurant. The hotel team and its general manager require a separate mention, they are exceptional as hosts, they were kind, warm and concerned about us all the time, the best thing about the hotel. Special thanks to the Spanish-speaking team: Marina, Tamara, Antonella and also of course Mr. Manos.Guest review byErickChile

The staff are very welcoming and helped us with everything we needed during our time in Santorini. Our room was clean, unique and comfortable. The "hot tub" was great to have after a day of adventures, to relax and have a cold beer in. Breakfast was delivered to our room daily and had a great selection to choose from.Guest review byChristopherRomania

We absolutely loved how friendly the staff were, especially Jennifer and the guy who brings the bags to the room. Cannot fault our stay at all.Guest review byMichelleIreland

Bus companies were well organised, despite chaotic appearance. Used bus from airport, back from Oia, return trip to Akrotiri and to access the port. Drivers were very skilful. Beautiful location. Excellent dining in main street.Guest review byMarciaAustralia - 10.0

On arrival it is confusing - hotel is built on upper slopes of caldera, so it has different levels. On the plus side as soon as you leave the hotel you are on the famous Fira/Oia walk - turn right for Fira. You are on the highest part of the caldera so initially it is downhill, also you are close to Skaros rock which is worth visiting for the views and has a church partially hidden on the seaward side at a slightly lower elevation. As long as you can look to the sea you will have great sunset views wherever you are,my hotel patio was great for this.Guest review byAlanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Having stayed two weeks in Perissa, I dare say I know it a bit. It's a great mix of not too big of a town, plenty of groceries shopping spots, Restaurants with some great offers, nice beaches (even though one has to get used to black sand) and cultural spots like a very nice Orthodox Church and some historic ruins if you dare to hike a bit. It's wasn't too crowded either, so if you consider going, do so Early - Mid September.Guest review bySherman SiegeLuxembourg - 8.0

A village with bakery, gyros place, souvenir shop & good sized mini market. Walkable to Fura though a noisy main road. Buses good too but more value for money the further you are going. Taxis quite expensive so we walked a lot.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Lovely village but getting very busy.
Lovely village but getting very busy. Restaurants were excellent and staff in them very polite and attentive. Greece is not cheap these days so you have to pay the same as in UK for meals etc. Wine is very expensive but nice to see that they only sell Greek wine in supermarkets and restaurants.Guest review byElaineUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Liked that it was away from Fira. Fira so crowded.
Liked that it was away from Fira. Fira so crowded. One day 6 cruise ships in Port. We ate 2 nights at Romantica taverna. Traditional Greek restaurant, good food and happy staff. Easy to walk around in you don't mind stairs and uphill. Walk from Fira to Oia 10km, something to do and overview of area.Guest review bySusanAustralia - 10.0

Beautiful village and I’m sure a couple of days would be a better length of stay. On both occasions we have visited we have had only one night there. Good choice of restaurants in easy walking distance. Lovely individual shops.Guest review byLesleyUnited Kingdom
