Fabulous historical city with everything nearby. Ferry service to islands is easy. Highly recommend a walk up the Marian Steps to enjoy the incredible view. We had a wonderful stay at Teranino Apartment. Our hosts were exceptional, very kind and generous. They did everything to make our stay so enjoyable including many lovely touches,e.g.delicious cold beer in the fridge on arrival,some locally grown goodies and even doing our washing,(returned beautifully ironed), half way through the holiday. Zadar has so much to offer — from narrow, charming streets full of cafés and restaurants serving delicious food and good music (like Rock Caffe), to interesting interiors, lovely beaches, beautiful sunsets and sunrises, and parks. I loved Hvar.
I loved Hvar. Scenery beautiful, great restaurants in the town at the back of the main square, very pretty settings some are expensive to other European travels I've been on. Our favourite restaurants were Black Pepper, Fig, Junior. Would not choose to visit July/August main town can be very busy. Sun beds along the coast can be expensive to hire. What a lovely place!
What a lovely place! Sitting on the promenade by the water and watching the boats go in and out was a holiday all on its own. Excellent places to eat and friendly staff at them. The Shell Museum was fascinating. The lady in charge told us about it and it is clear that she is a heroine who has devoted all her time to making sure it will succeed. I hope she gets a lot of support from local councillors and businesses. Saint Nicolas Church was beautiful and the four paintings around the altar were obviously by a highly-skilled painter. I wished there had been postcards of them to send to my family! The Racic Mausoleum was amazing and gave a beautiful view of the town. For me, this is simply the best place in Croatia.
For me, this is simply the best place in Croatia. It's smaller than, for example, Makarska, and lacks noisy clubs and loud nightlife, which I consider strong advantages. You can find everything you need: beautiful beaches, bars, snack stands, and upscale restaurants.
