FAQs about hotels in Bali
An Island Dream
The dream destination of Bali is where volcanic landscape meets lush rice terraces and pristine beaches. Not to mention the fantastic surfing, cheap shopping and pervading spirituality that have made this Indonesian island a long-time favourite for backpackers.
The island’s capital is Denpasar in the south, but its surf and party capital is nearby Kuta. Swaying palm trees line the beach here and many more cover the grounds of the Bali hotels on the beach in more exclusive Seminyak to the north.
On the island’s north coast, Pemuteran beach offers lovely views of the sloping mountains heading towards the Bali Sea. Many beaches on this coast are black sand, including sweeping Lovina beach from where dolphins can often be seen. Tulamben in the east is one of the better diving resorts in Bali, while Sanur is a popular option for families.
Ubud is the island’s cultural capital and houses a monkey sanctuary in its jungle-like landscape. An ancient Hindu temple is found here, but the best-known temple is Tanah Lot, surrounded by water. There are also hundreds of fantastic spas in Bali, as well as meditation and yoga classes that you can join.
Whether you choose to stay inland or by the beautiful coastline, Booking.com has a great range of villas, guest houses and hotels in Bali.

- From US$851.78 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 188 reviewsAbsolutely Exceptional Stay From the moment we arrived, everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff were incredibly welcoming, kind, and attentive always smiling and ready to help with anything we needed. Every interaction felt personal and genuine, making us feel truly cared for. The service was flawless from the front desk to housekeeping, room service, and even the spa team, everyone was professional yet warm. The rooms were spotless and beautifully maintained, and every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. What stood out the most was the hospitality. The team went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, often anticipating our needs before we even asked. Whether it was arranging transport, customizing meals, or simply checking in on how we were enjoying our stay they made us feel like VIPs. It was truly one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. We’re already planning our return. Highly, highly recommended!Guest review byRawanKuwait
- From US$821.94 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,327 reviewsOn arrival the staff welcomed us with refreshing drinks and some cold towels and a hand made flower necklace. Check in was seamless and we were offered free lunch to use over our stay. The staff brought our bags to our room and we were told about the facilities and how to contact reception etc. They also provided a mozzie plug in. Our room came with lots of snacks and drinks. The view from the room was amazing, our into the rain forest, absolutely stunning. Our private pool also had this same view, amazing, it blew our minds. The main pool also has this same view! The bathroom was gorgeous with a huge bath and a shower and plenty of space for our suitcases etc. The bed was super comfortable! The landscaping of the gardens around the rooms is amazing so nice to walk around and take it all in. We also received a massage in the onsite spa and it was so good and relaxing, definitely recommend.Guest review byjennaIreland

The traffic through town is a nightmare but everyone knows that, so it is what it is. This is tropical rainforest territory so be aware of that. The climate is unpredictable so pick a hotel that is close to your area of interest.Guest review byjohnNew Zealand - 10.0

Canggu has a nice mix of things for every age group.
Canggu has a nice mix of things for every age group. It has wonderful cafes (Milk and Madu), beach clubs (La Brisa), restaurants (Longtime; Lulu’s), clubs and bistros (Margaret bistro). There’s also yoga, fitness and spas. It ticks all the boxes. Just be mindful when ordering salads, vegetable juice or iced drinks from certain places, as the tap water is not potable. It is also a short distance away from Seminyak (which has a lot of shopping; our kid loves places like Stroberi, Kids à gogo and Candyland).Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Seminyak has such a great balance compared to Kuta — it’s not as hectic, and there’s much less pressure from people trying to sell you things. The beach is beautiful and perfect for sunset walks, and the vibe overall feels more relaxed. I loved how you can find cheap local warungs serving delicious food right alongside more fancy restaurants and bars — so there’s something for every mood and budget. It’s also easy to get around, with plenty of shops, spas, and cafés tucked into quiet little streets. Seminyak really gave me that mix of laid-back holiday vibes while still having everything I needed nearby. I’d definitely come back!Guest review bydelaneyAustralia - 8.0

Parts were lovely and the cliffs around the temple were amazing but be prepared for lots of traffic (especially scooters) so it takes a while to get anywhere and the public bits are a bit grotty. Couple of amazing places to eat (eg Nourish) and plenty of lovely massage options - we went to Zahra. Highly recommend going to a sunset dance performance - absolutely amazing!Guest review byNZ PennyNew Zealand - 10.0

Sanur has been done tidy, new beautiful hotels have been build, wave breakers with cosy `bale´s" along the shore, new terminal for boats, good shopping and restaurants, a multitude of choices for all categories from backpackers to luxury guests. a vivid, living city with a good vibe. the main roads have turned some worn out the latest yeras, otherwise the shoreline and beach have been really nice. this was our 7th visit to sanur, not the last. Good things are proximity to airport, good choice of options, easy acces to cities and places around. the new shopping mall was maybe a little over the limits, but it certainly pleases many. I am more for local marketplaces.Guest review byMikael LauriDenmark - 6.0

Unfortunately , NP seems to have far too many visitors for what the road infrastructure can handle . The roads to all the local sightseeing hotspots are not wide enough for oncoming vehicle to pass each other without driving on the shoulder of the road ( if it exists ) and constantly causing further damage ,. The roads surfaced are very badly broken a terribly pot- holed . Vehicle journeys to the popular destinations take an inordinately long time with traffic banked up while cars try to pass each other when they can . On the plus ; the restaurants and beach clubs and bars serve excellent food and live music nightly was easy to find . And entertaining . The coastline scenery is fantastic . Itis why so many people make trip . The fast ferry services from Sanur to NP are very good and only 30 minutes .Guest review byPhilbobagginsAustralia - 10.0
We liked the central location in Legian.
We liked the central location in Legian. Hawkers should not attend hotel, this is rest time from shopping and bartering. Pad on Bene was our favourite place to eat anytime. Good food.Fat Tony’s burgers great. Water BOM amazing, our son went 4 times during our stay with great water slides. Traffic congestion to Changu and Ubud was horrendous. Took 2 hours for such a small distance.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

friendly, charming, plenty to see, however seeing so much rubbish / trash lying about took away some of the 'shine'. Possibly the establishment of an organisation ?volunteer or ?commercial to recycle plastics (bottles) could certainly assist in recycling some of the plastics. There was one eating establishment which was doing it's very best to get the message across about limiting / recycling plastics!Guest review bypaulineAustralia - 4.0
We spent two nights at the end of our holiday in this area.
We spent two nights at the end of our holiday in this area. It was not for us. The area is dominated by large resorts and the main activities centre around surfing, or hanging out in a pricey resort/bar, or perhaps viewing artifical tourist sights. Admittedly some resorts are very nice and have nice views but it's not really my style of holiday to spend several hundred dollars to lounge on a sunbed on the coast. There are plenty of higher end places to eat in this area, but I didn't go to Indonesia to eat western food. The Indonesian options feel very samey and were better in other areas with more Indonesian diners. Even Ubud with its hordes of people felt more authentically like Bali than this area does. In all, if you want a resort style holiday or are a wealthy surfer then this is the area for you. If you want to mosey around and get a feel for Bali it is not. For other watersports, it would be better to go north e.g. for diving/snorkelling. Or go to another island altogether.Guest review byAlexanderNew Zealand
