CanadaStunning location. We loved arriving at a beautiful, modern guest house situated among the ancient bog & stone-walled roads/bridges. It’s hard to capture the landscapes we witnessed without seeing it; undulating, craggy coastal boglands. Having such a clean, simple & contemporary space to rest among such ancient and beautiful scenery was a splendid juxtaposition.

Without hesitation, I can say Aran Walkers Lodge was our favorite stay and "picture perfect" from the moment we checked in until we checked out! Much like the magnificent landscapes, warm welcoming people, delicious food, the historical pubs castles and monuments on Inis Mor, our stay at Aran Walker's Lodge was exactly what comes to mind when I think of Ireland! The view from the lodge is stunning and the location of the property is a beautiful bike ride away from everything we wanted to see (Wormhole, Dún Aonghasa, The Seal Colony, the Sweater Market and much more)....They even provide the bikes for a small fee (much easier and economical than renting from the pier). Our room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and quaintly decorated, the complimentary breakfast was delicious, and the owner Sean was welcoming and helpful- he advised us on walks, transport and places to eat. THE perfect host! And, Julia...what an absolute gem this beautiful and brilliant girl is! The care, kindness and extra effort she put into any request we had made it feel like we were staying with family...To think she is a volunteer is unbelievable to me. Such a beautiful island. Peace, nature, wildlife, beautiful hand knitted aran jumpers in the shops, good food and friendly local people. There are horses and carts that will take you round the island. What a way to travel! Loved my time there.Guest review byJacquelineSlovenia - 8.0

The island is truly amazing.
The island is truly amazing. Great accommodations, great food, great people. I just happened to be there during the Bodhran Festival and it was incredible. I loved how everyone participated sharing their talents. I will definitely return. Get the Crepes by the pier. The St Tola crepe is to die for. Excellent property and fantastic hosts. Great communication when I had an email query. Lovely extras like milk and bread in the fridge when we arrived. Absolutely spotless property and very well equipped. The bathrooms were lovely and there was plenty hot water. Lots of space, it's a huge house! Plenty entertaining space. To get a feeling for the island you should really stay more than a few hours. We stayed overnight so and got to chill in the local bar, enjoy the restaurants. Was fantastic place to wander around and experience every type of weather and the views are breath taking. There are 3 main bars/restaurants that wont see you go wrong. A pint of Guinness is a must. There are a variety of tea/coffee shops serving home made scones and baked goods. getting around is so easy either through bike hire (10 euro per day) or on one of the horse and cart trips. The island is a little hilly but very easy to walk about. Highlights include the beach, plassy ship wreck, light house and the castle. A trip to the aran islands would not be complete with out a purchase of some aran knitwear.Guest review byNolanIreland - 8.0

Cute little town - convenient to the ferry. Lovely scenery. Great if you hike or bike(unless it’s raining, which it was for us). Pub food is about the only option, it’s a little elevated at the Hotel. We took the hop on bus, only two stops, not a tour - the driver didn’t say much. The island is absolutely isolated.
The island is absolutely isolated. Only transportation is bicycles. Most tourists arrive on the morning ferry and leave on the evening ferry so when you stay overnight, it is very, very quiet and isolated. We really loved that part of it! “Guest review byDavidUnited States - 10.0

Outside the town is more interesting than inside.
Outside the town is more interesting than inside. But avoid the minibus tours. Our driver, John, spent five frickin' hours driving around trying to find more passengers, during which time he showed us only two of the sights. He also spent some of the time essentially providing a taxi service, and treated his taxi customers with much more consideration than his tour passengers.
