Room very clean, modern and well furnished. Spacious and comfy beds. Toiletries provided are from a nice, trendy brand. Convenient location to reach the downtown (Temple Bar, Trinity College, Christ Church and St. Patrick Cathedral are only 20mins walking distance). Very silent hotel. Bathroom had a big comfy shower. Temperature in the room was proper and very comfortable. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

The bedding was questionable when we arrived, but the staff immediately replaced it and provided a breakfast at no cost. Excellent customer service. The rooms were very well appointed: lots of power outlets, lots of storage spaces, robes and slippers, excellent shower, etc. The bed was very comfortable. The gym was better equipped than most typical hotel gyms. Staff was very helpful. It was nice to be able to get tea, coffee or a drink in the spacious lobby. While it is a bit out of the centre, it is right on the #16 bus route directly from the airport. A tram line is not far. Lots of restaurants and pubs nearby, It's also an easy walk to St. Stephen's Green and the Grafton Street area. The breakfast is very good, and one does not have to order the Full Irish: the Continental is half the price and offers a great spread of breads, meats and cheeses, fruit, cereals and yoghurt. Given the quality of this hotel, the room rates are an exceptionally good value for Dublin.

What a beautiful place inside and out! The staff were exceptional and our dinner at the bar was memorable and delicious. I thought this property would not feel so much like a castle, but I was wrong. And even though it rained throughout our stay, we walked the grounds and enjoyed the manicured property, a hint of lavender along the pathway, and a moment of peace watching the dolphins swim in the river (Yes. Dolphins. I thought they were teasing us, but it was true). I wish we had booked a longer stay.

Absolutely beautiful hotel and surroundings. The staff were all lovely and the breakfast was excellent (and in a beautiful setting overlooking the grounds). The spa is small but very nice, the indoor/outdoor pool is unlike anything I have seen before and we absolutely loved it. Can't recommend the Lyrath enough and can't wait to go back again hopefully!

Attended a recent wedding in the hotel. The venue, staff and food was exceptional. Breakfast was beautiful, a lovely menu of hot breakfast choices to choose from, along with fresh juice. Food was a little slow, although it gave time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and enjoy the selection of yogurt, bread and pastries.

Breakfast is very good, room was very comfortable, good shower. Location is ok during the day. You can get a bus or Lua ride anywhere in Dublin in a 100 meter radius. Nearby Shopping on Henry St. just 200m away. Plenty of pubs and convenience stores nearby. Upper O'Connel St. gets a bit tricky after 9 PM.

Beautiful historic city.

Beautiful historic city. I am sure I could have spent a few more days there and even more out and about the country side. Day tour trip to Galway and Cliffs of Moher well worth it though personally don't like bus rides. the guide was good and if you do go, don't choose the back seat unless you have 4 other very close friends.

We didn’t expect to love Kilkenny this much.

We didn’t expect to love Kilkenny this much. Honestly, we thought it might just be a quick stop between Dublin and Dingle — but wow, this city had other plans. We stayed at the Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel, which turned out to be right in the heart of everything (and dangerously close to several very good pubs). The staff were friendly, the room was great, and the downstairs bar made it a little too easy to “just pop in for one.” The castle is straight out of a storybook, St. Canice’s Cathedral has a tower climb that will either make you feel brave or slightly ridiculous (worth it either way), and Rothe House and the Medieval Mile Museum make history feel alive and oddly relatable. Everywhere we turned there was something beautiful, old, or both. And the pubs — good grief. Every night turned into “just one more pint,” with live music, friendly locals, and that cozy Irish magic that makes you forget what time it is. Kilkenny has this perfect mix of history, charm, and fun. It’s walkable, welcoming, and just the right size to feel like you really got to know it. We left wishing we’d stayed longer — and promising we’ll be back (ideally with stronger pub stamina).

Wexford is a lovely coastal town on the Southeast coast with a real warm vibe to it. Cosy pubs and cafes with access to beaches that span miles with hardly anyone on them. You can spend days exploring the town and find lovely pubs, restaurants and cafes to relax, read and chat with friends or go driving to nearby beaches like Kilmore Quay and Curracloe. The Wexford Festival Opera is the perfect time to go and experience lesser known operatic works by a wonderful opera company in the very beautiful National Opera House. The festival definitely gives the town an extra buzz.

If you are looking for cutting-edge city life, this is not for you. Dundalk is a former railway town, largely built round the (now defunct) works for the GNRI and with much 19th century red-brick architecture. It has a busy high street with a lot of small shops, pubs and restaurants, none are grand, it reminds me of similar towns in the UK before planning blight took hold. A lot of effort seems to have gone into smartening the place up in recent years, which is nice. Would that other towns of its scale have survived so well it would be nothing exceptional, but as so few have, it has a real charm. As a base, it is well sited to explore the countryside around, which has a long and interesting history, with a lot of historic sites.
