United StatesThe grounds were great, a small creek running thru, sheep in the pasture, the Inn itself was beautiful. Very well cared for. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The management and staff were friendly and were happy to get us whatever we needed. The pub was where we spent many an hour where we were able to get some research work done. Fire in the fireplace every night. The dinner meals we had were yummy. Breakfast was also good with good choices. All said, it was a great four nights and we will be back!

Monaghan town seems to have no real focal centre but this doesn't stop it from being a warm and interesting place to stay for a few days. I suggest a visit to the County Museum first in its brilliant new home. The present displays give you a feel for the region and the peoples over centuries as they lived and live their lives in a genuine "borderland". Congratulations to the Museum curators. There is very little in Clones but we were there to visit friends. You can eat in the Creighton Hotel in Clones but it wasn't great. We found a lovely pub restaurant in Belturbet called the Seven Horseshoes. A town not too far from Dublin airport and within easy distance to Co Tyrone ,Northern Ireland.The locals very very friendly and the local pubs were traditional , well at least the ones I went into. YES the Guinness does taste different to the British variety .Ireland in common with most places these days is not a cheap place ,indeed the price of property is on par with England as opposed to a few years when it was dirt cheap. No tea or coffee in the room ! For this money I can get much better place! Online pictures are lie ! It's a old house and not comfortable..I mean ugly inside...
