This place is a true gem. A small hotel in a European style, where every detail reflects taste and care. The interiors are stylish and beautiful, creating a sense of comfort and calm. The room was spacious, with an amazing view from the window — absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunrise. Everything is thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail. You feel it right away: nothing unnecessary, just harmony and comfort. The service was excellent — warm, attentive, and unobtrusive. The dinner especially touched us — light and homemade: flavorful soup, fresh bread, and a slice of delicious homemade cake. It all felt so kind, so genuine. This is the kind of place you want to return to — not just to relax, but to feel that special atmosphere of care and quiet all over again.

We had a lovely tiny cottage that was so cool. Although tiny, it had everything, a full kitchen, bathroom, etc. The morning breakfast is amazing, with a variety of options, and the restaurant overall just exceeded or expectations by a mile. The food was sooooooooo good, it is worth to stop by only to get a bite or two ;-) Btw, there are also two hot tubs with clean water - that was an amazing experience as well.

We stayed in one of the bungalows near the sea. The place is a bit dated, but it’s still very comfortable, spacious, and has everything you need. The views of the mountains were beautiful, and there’s a hot tub available for guests, which was a nice bonus. The location is convenient — close to the city with easy access to gas stations and supermarkets. A great spot to relax and explore the area.

The restaurant served up some delicious duck confit & chicken leg. It was one of my favourite meals. It was also located right on a pretty private beach that was an excellent spot to view auroras. I appreciated that the room had a good selection of teas & coffee. The owners are not very particular where you're parked so parking spaces were ample.

The breakfast is one of the best among all the hotels we stayed in Iceland. The staff went out of their way to serve you. I left my notebook computer charger in the hotel. The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason. It offers no services, like toilets. If the weather is ok and you like walking, there is a free spot closer to the city, 1mile or 1500m, with a trail to the fall. The fall and the mountain together in a pic are the postcard you imagined.

We only spent 1 night and 1 lunchtime in Borgarnes, so my experience was limited. We would have loved to stay longer and explore more! The walk along the seaside is beautiful and a great way to get around. The pool with its hot tubs is excellent - just go here and skip the pricey spas! The town feels so safe and there are some lovely bakeries and cafes. The Settlement Museum is well worth a visit!

I would like to address several reviewers comments in general about the size of the bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms have been updated. the bathrooms are on the smaller side but so are most of the bathrooms in all the hotels I have stayed at in Iceland. We travel extensively and notice differences in all of the countries we have been to that are different from our own places and each place that you go. I think it is ok to mention this so other people are aware but to complain so much about it is not necessary. I would also like to mention how wonderful their water is! It can go from freezing cold to sauna hot in a matter of seconds and it is the only country that I prefer to dink from the tap! I hope this helps :)

Hellnar is the perfect location, close to all the major attractions on the peninsula and an ideal place to spend the night while soaking in the beauty of the landscape. There’s a charming little café just a few minutes from the Peninsula Suites that serves the best waffles with jam and whipped cream, an Icelandic classic. The views are truly out of this world, we’ve never seen anything like it. Cliffs, ocean, glacier, and moss all come together in the most breathtaking way. It’s an absolute must on your trip!
