The accomodation is located in a farm, basically in the middle of nowhere, but it's totally worth taking the long journey in the Westfjords to get to this place. It has a very unique feeling, you are in the nature. I arrived very late, around midnight, but communication with the hotel staff and then self check in was very easy. After arrival I jumped into the hot pool (which is available 24/7), they have both outdoor and indoor pools (in an amazing palm house). Breakfast was divine with a lot of local produce, it's definitely worth the additional 2000 ISK that I had to pay for that. It's a place where I definitely have to return one day.

Probably the coziest hotel we have ever visited. As soon as we entered all our senses were positively affected(e.g very nice design, the smell of home made bread being baked for breakfast, nice soft music etc). Very comfortable bed and all details in the room were carefully thought with great taste. The stuff was extremely polite and helpful. The best breakfast we had in Iceland.

This modern but still with a lot of flair Hotel off the main road is so ideal for relaxing. We enjoyed the junior suite, comfortable bed, sofa sitting area all amendments available. Most spectacular the breakfast/dinner upstairs 4th floor. Staff friendly, helpful, anytime again.

Daniel, at the front desk, was personable and welcoming. Lots of good information, Fast check-in. The entire property has a very calming vibe. I cannot think of another hotel I'd prefer in that region. Breakfast was good, too! I think this hotel should be an easy choice. Ask for room 217 or 218 for the best view!! Lovely small hotel by the main road, very friendly staff and delicious food! Rooms were clean, bathroom is nice, with bathrobes and slippers to use for hot tubs, which are located behind the hotel. 2 hot tubs which you can use whenever you like. Small stream on one side and farm animals on the other. Might have to wait a bit to have free spot in the evening. Breakfast was very good, eggs, bacon, freshly baked bread, freshly baked sweets (muffins, waffles...), fruit etc. Coffee with options to add some flavored syrups (never seen this before in a hotel), tea, juice... Restaurant at the hotel for lunch/dinner. Expensive dinner, but worth the money, best lamb we had in Iceland and we tried quite a few. Homegrown animals (fresh meat), view from restaurant on the pond with ducks. We stayed for 2 nights and then drove straight to the airport (1h 40min drive). Did not go sightseeing in vicinity so cannot comment on that. There is volcanic crater to visit 5min away and some hot springs. Definitely recommend staying here!

    Friendly staff, laid-back atmosphere, excellent food, wonderful historic building. And of course dramatic nature (the weather was a bit choppy when I was there so the water in the waterfalls blew upwards instead of falling down.) I had the best time lazing about, reading, doing the jigsaw puzzle and eating good food in the common room during a storm. I heartily recommend booking a tour in the old factory.

    Exceptional place in a peaceful location off the beaten path. Cozy rooms with modern amenities, including a fantastic bed and shower. The host was kind and attentive, and even went out of her way to get us some ice from her neighbor. The breakfast was our favorite of the whole trip, especially the homemade waffles! We can't wait to return next time we visit Iceland.

    We only spent 1 night and 1 lunchtime in Borgarnes, so my experience was limited. We would have loved to stay longer and explore more! The walk along the seaside is beautiful and a great way to get around. The pool with its hot tubs is excellent - just go here and skip the pricey spas! The town feels so safe and there are some lovely bakeries and cafes. The Settlement Museum is well worth a visit!

    The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason. It offers no services, like toilets. If the weather is ok and you like walking, there is a free spot closer to the city, 1mile or 1500m, with a trail to the fall. The fall and the mountain together in a pic are the postcard you imagined.

    The hike to the island is very nice, we did it at 11pm after our dinner. You have to visit the church. We loved this village and his traditional houses. We eat very well at Sjávarpakkhúsið restaurant.

    Olafsvik was a beautiful little town with everything within walking distance from our accommodation. The harbour wa pretty and a nice beach, we went on the whale watching trip and saw Orcas which was amazing !!! The roads in and out of town were quite snowy so u need a 4x4 in the wintertime

    Gorgeous mountain views, restaurant with delicious and fresh food overlooking the river, clean and cute camping pods with GREAT insulation, three hot tubs, dark enough at night to see the Northern Lights (even when it's cloudy!), friendly staff (family business), cozy lounge area with vinyl records and couches, troll garden, clean and easily accessible bathrooms, showers, and kitchen!

    Stayed here because there was reasonably priced accommodations mostly on route to where we were going. The town is small, doesn't appear to be too much to it. The people were nice, it felt safe, and was by the water.

    Hellnar is the perfect location, close to all the major attractions on the peninsula and an ideal place to spend the night while soaking in the beauty of the landscape. There’s a charming little café just a few minutes from the Peninsula Suites that serves the best waffles with jam and whipped cream, an Icelandic classic. The views are truly out of this world, we’ve never seen anything like it. Cliffs, ocean, glacier, and moss all come together in the most breathtaking way. It’s an absolute must on your trip!

    The annual music festival was great as ever with fine program and performing artists. The new church has outstanding acoustics and do not forget do have a glance at the old church from 1887 and the Snorri Sturluson bath originated from 13th century.

    I would like to address several reviewers comments in general about the size of the bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms have been updated. the bathrooms are on the smaller side but so are most of the bathrooms in all the hotels I have stayed at in Iceland. We travel extensively and notice differences in all of the countries we have been to that are different from our own places and each place that you go. I think it is ok to mention this so other people are aware but to complain so much about it is not necessary. I would also like to mention how wonderful their water is! It can go from freezing cold to sauna hot in a matter of seconds and it is the only country that I prefer to dink from the tap! I hope this helps :)
