FAQs about hotels in Campania
Stunning Scenery and Remarkable Ruins
Wonderful beach resorts, a wealth of history and winding, cliff-hugging roads – these are just a few reasons why Campania is so admired.
Spreading around a bay, the capital Naples is a mix of monumental architecture and narrow streets. Known for pizza and pulsating life night and day, it extends along the coast towards Pozzuoli, site of a Roman amphitheatre and the Phlegrean Fields volcanic area.
The most notorious volcano is of course Vesuvius, whose eruption in 79AD destroyed Pompei and Herculaneum. The ruins of both are an amazing insight into the sophistication of the Romans. Even older are the well-preserved Greek temples at Paestum.
Agropoli sits on a rocky promontory overlooking a beach and harbour, and beautiful Palinuro is at the tip of the Cilento National Park. Other fantastic Campania resorts are on the amazing Amalfi Coast. Ravello, high on a hill, offers stunning coastal views, while Amalfi and Positano cascade down to the sea. Around the peninsula is Sorrento, home to several 5-star Campania hotels, while offshore are the fabulous islands of Capri and Ischia.
Inland Caserta has an impressive Royal Palace with huge gardens, and Avellino nestles in a valley between the port of Salerno and Benevento, site of yet more Roman remains. See Booking.com for an excellent range of apartments, B&Bs and hotels in Campania.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 199 reviewsOur stay with you was 10/10. We were delighted with our accommodation and the customer service was just wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were incredibly curtious and helpful, the grounds were so well kept, the food - just excellent. There were lots of places to sit and relax during our sat, either by the pool, on the veranda or in the patio space. We had a wonderful time - thank you. The best place was a small walk through a woodland to the beach where there was a delightful bar and restaurant along with loungers a-plenty, just next to the sea. Everyone at Oleandri Resort made our stay memorable, everyone was so lovely. Thank you.Guest review byLottieUnited Kingdom

Naples is a large city with a lot of car and scooter traffic. Getting around the city may be overwhelming at first but once you learn how to travel on the Metro train system it gets much easier. The trains & stations are clean & safe & signage is clearly posted. The restaurants in Naples are excellent and are very good value. The pizza is AMAZING! Naples is also a great place to stay if you want to visit Pompeii, The Amalfi Coast, Sorrento for day trips. There are trains and buses to these locations and the cost is very reasonable.Guest review byAprelUnited States - 10.0
I loves Sorrento!
I loves Sorrento! I think it is a perfect and relaxing experience. It has a bit of everything. The views, beaches, ferries and sea and also good food, drinks, nightlife and more. It was just magical, lovely and I would love to visit again!Guest review byBarIsrael - 10.0
Salerno was a pretty city and was not overrun by tourists.
Salerno was a pretty city and was not overrun by tourists. It was a city for the inhabitants and it had a good feeling about it. The old market street was lovely to walk along, as was the promenade along the water. The train line allowed for easy connections to Naples, Rome, Paestum and further south. The proximity to so many ferries was good for day trips. There was also the bus stop near the ferries that allowed travel to other parts of Italy.Guest review byDianneAustralia - 10.0

Capri is great to explore via taxi, get up early and head up to Ana Capri, less traffic more intimate area. The chair lift is a must to the top of the mountain, and lunch up top of the mountain is amazing. Capri is nice in the evenings to walk around and shop with plenty of places to get cocktails, and explore.Guest review byAnonymous - 2.0
Positano is a total zoo!!!
Positano is a total zoo!!! The alleys are jam-packed with people and lined with shops selling tourist junk. The roads are extremely curvy and hazardous to walk on (shoulders are about 6" wide). Every time I tried to take a bus there were about 4 busloads of people waiting and it was a battle to get on.Guest review byStaciaUnited States - 8.0

I visited Pompeii in early October and whilst busy, I was reliably informed that it’s quiet compared to peak summer months. Definitely worth visiting and I’d recommend a guide if you can. So much to see and you should allow a good 3hrs+ to see the whole site. There’s a lot of walking to do and if you’re unsteady on your feet, that will limit some of the things you can see at the site. I’d also strongly recommend you take water with you. It’s hot work even in October. I also visited Herculaneum, which is much smaller but is in many ways, a better preserved site. You’ll see the second floor on many buildings. That said, you get a real feel for how big Pompeii was back in the day. Which is better? Pompeii for me based upon the sheer scale, variety of buildings and the wonder you get of how well developed the Romans were back in 79AD. I’d also say that the surroundings outside of the UNESCO World Heritage site are a whole lot better than Herculaneum.Guest review byMikeUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Caserta is a very underrated place to visit, but it must be seen on your travels. The palace is an unbelievable place. Check out the gardens, it is close to Napoli, Sorrento, and Capri, and an ideal location to base your Holiday. It has everything you need: Road Network, trains, and busesGuest review byIannarelliUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Maiori is lovely, spread out and calm. There are plenty of shops to poke about in and even more restaurants and gelato places to sample. We loved the cleanliness and safety of the sidewalks. It felt spacious.Guest review bySandraCanada
