Waking up to that view was amazing! Also the fact that you can wake up and jump straight in the sea. The pasta was also amazing. I can’t recommend it enough. The only thing, is that during our time there it was hard to get to the hotel. But once we knew we had to walk through the water to get there, we actually enjoyed the little adventure :) we travelled with our two children (5 and 7 years old). Without a doubt this was one of the best experiences we have had. To stay in such a fascinating place with the most magnificent views was magical. The rooms are basic but very clean and modern. We went to the restaurant for dinner which was a tasting menu. The food was great and the service top notch. We were initially worried about getting our bags up the stairs as the lift from the entrance (by the ticket office) floor only goes so far. We shouldn't have worried though as the bags where taken care of at the ticket office and taken to our room. Taxis are easy to get. We loved Ischia.

Picturesque Island of Volcanic Rock, Thermal Spas and Pristine Beaches

Located 30 km from Naples and formed by a complex volcano, the pristine and breathtaking Ischia Island is Mother Nature’s hidden gem in the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is surrounded by an unspoiled coastline, thermal spas, several hiking routes and spectacular scenery.

Built in 474 BC, Aragonese Castle which is perched on natural volcanic rock, is the most impressive historical monument on Ischia Island, and is a modern day reminder of the islands past. Another wonder of island is the Gardens of La Mortella. Filled with tropical and Mediterranean plants, these picture-perfect gardens offer some of the best views over the region and Forio Harbour.

Other attractions on Ischia Island are beaches such as Maronti Beach and Citara Beach. There is also the Angelo Rizzoli Museum, which is a museum of the famous Italian publisher and film producer Angelo Rizzoli, along with the mushroom rock (known to locals as the Fungo) located just off the port of Lacco Ameno. Several local restaurants and bars are scattered around the island serving traditional and local delights.

One of the most interesting and unique areas on Ischia Island is the bay of Citara, and the famous Poseidon thermal Gardens. It features several pools, spas, a traditional Roman Sauna, a private beach and various restaurants. Visitors also have great transportation links by bus around the island.

    EVERYTHING! Such an exceptional hospitality, professional and super friendly staff. We stayed during end of season so there were not a lot of people in the hotel. It felt very private. The pools were relaaaxing, tried them all:) The room and all territory were super clean. Amazing breakfast , such a good variety of hot meals which they prepare for you freshly. A lot of desserts, meats, fruits, drinks, Prosecco.. Highly recommend if you wish for an amazing time to relax!

    Breakfasts are Italian style, with lot of sweet pastry. Nice and strong coffee or cappuccino on request. Very polite and professional waiters. Clean and well maintained pools are good standard here for a long time. Hotel location is convenient in the heart of Ischia Porto, near to grocery and bus stop, location safe due to police station nearby. Reception professional, kind and very helpful.     Ischia is a great island for vacation - there are many sandy beaches, spectacular views, a lot of greenery and of course delicious food. It is not difficult to go around the island by car. The roads are narrow and with many turns, and many people are driving motorbikes which makes driving difficult but you can survive:) People are very friendly and calm. The food is amazing, especially pasta in any form! The island is easy to reach - the are ferries from Naples, about an hour from there. Highly recommend Ischia to visit!

    This is just a wonderful place.

    This is just a wonderful place. We were there in August which should be high season but it wasn't too crowded. You of course have to have some tourism so that restaurants and shopping will thrive and for us this is just the perfect balance. Not too many people "in your way" but still enough to have a variety of restaurants, shops and all sorts of services. We will 100% be returning to Ischia... most likely more than once and more than twice.

    Visiting Ischai with a car was challenging.

    Visiting Ischai with a car was challenging. We pre booked the Ferry but still needed to exchange our reservation for a ticket. We struggled to locate the ticket office at the port and we couldn't get a ticket for both crossings and was only issued a ticket for the single journey so we needed to locate the ticket office both in our outbound and inbound journey which was a pain. Reversing the car onto the car ferry was also challenging. The Island is a little grubby, the architecture is in poor repair and the roads are challenging. Some of the people were friendly but in general we found the people a little rude and ignorant. Driving was also quite challenging with other drivers being very aggressive. The beaches were a little hit and miss. The beaches in the towns were busy and crowded with locals, if you moved out beyond towns you can find less crowded beaches but with basic facilities. The Island is very hilly and it was too difficult to walk anywhere we needed a car but you can hire scooters very easily on the Island. The food options were very good with Excellent Pizza - We recommend Bar Franco in Lacco Amenco it was one of the highlights our our trip - we went back twice in 4 days.
