FAQs about hotels in Liguria
A Spectacular Sea of Colour
Although one of Italy’s smallest regions, Liguria punches well above its weight for incredible scenery. Its coastline stretching from the French border to the port of La Spezia is lined with brightly coloured houses, including those spectacularly hugging cliffs in the Cinque Terre villages.
Equally impressive is Portofino harbour, one of the most beautiful in Italy. In a country that counts Venice, Sorrento and Capri amongst its harbour towns, that’s quite some accolade. Next door Rapallo has a long promenade watched over by a castle.
Levanto’s promenade is supported by pillars on the beach below and overlooks mountains descending into the Mediterranean Sea. Portovenere at the tip of a peninsula has a Gothic church on a rocky outcrop.
The Liguria capital is Genoa, Italy’s busiest port and home to one of Europe’s largest Old Towns. Varazze to the west has a sweeping beach, as does Alassio – 2 resorts with lots of Liguria hotels on the beach on Booking.com. A fortress guards the entrance to Savona harbour, while Albenga has medieval spires and cobbled streets.
Low hills are the backdrop to Imperia’s beach and neighbouring Diano Marina is lapped by turquoise waters. When thinking of Liguria hotels, luxury springs to mind and nowhere is this truer than in exclusive Sanremo, home to an annual music festival and glamorous casino.

A a place and a view you will never forget. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful, the rooms top class, calm and wonderfully decorated. Our room had an amazing balcony with seaview. All amenities you can think of are available in the room. The brand new Spa and Wellness area comprise a modern Finnish sauna, a hammam, fitness room and massage and wellness treatments The price may be a little steep, but this place is a hidden jewel on the Ligurian coast and the staff its gems. The warm and attentive staff, especially during breakfast went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our stay was perfect. The receptionists were also generous and had upgraded us to a wonderful Sea-view room, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Even though we visited during the winter period, they had an outdoor heated swimming pool functioning with amazing view of the sea (infinity pool).Guest review byPankitIndia

Genoa is a big port city with many grand buildings, it's very interesting. We walked along the old port and saw all the mega yachts! We walked to the centre, past the cathedral and down Via Garibaldi - amazing buildings. There are lots of lovely restaurants and shops. It is also a big port and has some dark alleyways! Getting around is easy by metro or taxiGuest review byGraceUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Travelling from Rome, we made La Spezia our base to launch into the Cinque Terre. Fiume269 was just 10-min walk away from the main train station to travel to the 5 towns. Buses from near our stay take you easily to La Spezia's main attractions.Guest review byRobin GomesItaly - 10.0

Beautiful traditional Italian seaside town with plenty of interesting things to visit. La Pigna (the old town) is an interesting climb through small alleyways and gates. The Russian Orthodox church is small but perfectly formed. Villa Nobel is an interesting science museum & a beautiful villa to see from the outside. There is a 30km cycle and walking track running along the seafront, an old converted train track with plenty of cycle hire places along the way. Plenty of nice places nearby if you have a hire car. Steer clear of the Casino - it's tacky and full of slot machines.Guest review byJeremyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Secluded private garden location just minutes from the beach and the Gigante statue in the new town, nestled under old growth trees in a light filled greenhouse glass addition to an historical building. Sun Light yet private. Equipped with dishwasher and washer/dryer(a bonus for travelers) and the lack of towels. Bring extra charging stations. Outlets are sparing in each room. Non the less, this one is a find. I'd return.Guest review byamandaUnited States - 10.0
Levanto is the next town north of Cinque Terre.
Levanto is the next town north of Cinque Terre. The train that runs between the five towns, actually starts in Levanto so you can easily visit all the towns, and the trains also run to La Spezia where you can connect to many other parts of Italy. There are many restaurants, a fairly large beach, and you have many choices for hikes, walks, or rent a bike and ride through the tunnels. We were very glad we choose Levanto as the Cinque Terre towns were fairly crowded.Guest review byLesli BowersCanada - 10.0
Riomaggiore is a vibrant town.
Riomaggiore is a vibrant town. Loved being outside at night with the restaurant sounds and bars playing music. It felt safe to walk around on my own. Enjoyed the harbor view and proximity to boat rental and tours. Beach was nice and small and not too crowded. Ferry is right there, too. Highly recommend staying in Riomaggiore.Guest review bySusan CleereUnited States - 8.0

It was not as hectic as some nearby villages. But had easy access to the Cinque Terre by the train pass. Beautiful & clean. Lively atmosphere in the evening. Prices were a bit more reasonable as well.Guest review byRussellAustralia - 10.0

Very nice town with piazza and typical fishing village small streets. Has shopping and many restaurants. The beaches are very nice, mostly sandy with some pebbles at the shore. The water gets deep fast in 2-4 meters it is 1.5-2 meters deep with some waves.Guest review bypaulSwitzerland - 6.0
Vernazza is charming and lovely with it's colored structures...
Vernazza is charming and lovely with it's colored structures and ocean smashing against the rocks of this tiny port village. We went at the end of September, and it was still a bit crowded with tourists and sourvenir shops and restaurants along the walking strip. If you've never seen anything like this, you'll probably enjoy it. We, personally, found it not as impressive as Burano in Venice, which has MANY mult-colored homes and lovely walking areas along the water with canals that were much less touristy and truly more charming!! Thus, we don't need to return to Vernazza for the effort that it took to drive here.Guest review byCynthiaUnited States
