- From US$92.99 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 486 reviewsWe went here on a whim and we were very pleasantly surprised! Everything was fantastic! Very friendly and generous people. We had a little wine tasting when we arrived with the houses own wines which was very nice and with really tasty wines. The view from the hill is magnificent and the pool is just by the vineyard. The dinner was also excellent and actually authentic Italian where it was possible to have antipasti, primi, secondi and dulce without getting overly full.Guest review byAdamSweden
- From US$302.22 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 680 reviewsOne of the best boutique hotels we ever stayed in. The historical façade is charming and the interior is fully modern and renovated. The rooms are spacious. The bed and the pillows are very comfortable. Breakfast is excellent. The staff was very nice, always accommodating our requests. And there is the possibility of parking your car in the hotel, which is very rare in Italian historical cities. I strongly recommend staying here if you go to Lucca!Guest review byRodrigoAustria

The great thing about Altopascio is that it is close enough to be able to do many day trips. Within an hour from Altopascio you can get to Cinque Terre (La Spezia specifically), you can go to Pisa, Florence and even San Gimignano, a beautiful borgo townGuest review byRogerCanada - 10.0

Gorgeous hilltop village with great restaurants and a castle that you can visit with amazing views. We loved the fact that it wasn't too touristy and our trip coincided with the annual wine festival with lots of stalls and live music which we enjoyed.Guest review byEmmaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The narrow streets reveal something special at each turn.
The narrow streets reveal something special at each turn. A very easy city to navigate, particularly after a climb up the Duomo Clocktower. I was entranced by many of the old shop fronts, with attractive Art Nouveau/Art Deco designs, carefully preserved like most of this magical city. A short train ride to Pisa provided an equally engaging day tripGuest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Very peaceful to look at the mountains while enjoying your morning coffee. Leave more time for communting to the property every day from where ever you visit, it is a small, winding road, a tunnell and not fun to do at night or after a glass of wine. I will look to stay closer to Pisa next time.Guest review byKristenUnited States - 8.0
It was quite special to stay in an ancient fortification...
It was quite special to stay in an ancient fortification stemming from the 1400's. The heir to this property gave us good historic background on the property. The unit is reasonable in size and was a comfortable size for 4 people although we were 6. The sleeper couch was not comfortable. The kitchen was very nice but it was not equipped to the standard of a true self catering unit. For the rest everything was just fine and we would advise anybody to come and stay here when visiting the area. The main bedroom bed was nice. The 2nd bedroom only had half walls. The little town is quaint and beautiful and worthwhile visitingGuest review byM GSouth Africa - 10.0
Lucca is a beautiful city with a lot to see and do.
Lucca is a beautiful city with a lot to see and do. From walking around the wall of the city to experiencing a Puccini concert, there is something for everyone. There are many good bars and restaurants and climbing to the top of the towers for a spectacular view is a must. The people are friendly and helpful and it is not as crowded and touristy as places such as Pisa. It is a place to experience life in a small Tuscan city and everything it has to offer.Guest review byJennieAustralia - 8.0

Montecarlo is an excellent village on a hilltop close to Lucca. The village is very lively in the evening, with many restaurants and bars. Unfortunately, like in many other locations where demand exceeds supply, we had some negative experiences with restaurant owners who were rude and not flexible with tourists. Fortunately, those were a few exceptions, while most restaurants were friendly and gentle.Guest review byRiccardoItaly
