- From $98.33 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 136 reviewsWe arrived late in the evening and got a very warm greeting. We stayed overnight and left the next morning. Breakfast was very good. Kids loved it very much. Local restaurant that work until very late have delicious food prepared from a fresh home grown products. I had the most incredible experience at this mountain hotel! It's an oasis of tranquility, far from the city noise. Staying in a 300-year-old house was like stepping back in time. The authenticity of the atmosphere made me feel like I was living in a bygone era. It was a truly magical escape! I regret I bought only one bottle of local red wine to take with me.Guest review bySergeyIsrael

When we arrived unprepared for no local food they accommodated our needs. They don’t provide dinners but they did that night for us. They saved us from a hungry night. We really appreciated that gesture on their part.Guest review byCharlesUnited States

Morano Calabro is a gorgeous old town. Very pittoresque.
Morano Calabro is a gorgeous old town. Very pittoresque. The pretty pictures found on the internet cannot capture the real beauty of this place and its authentic and relaxed atmosphere. The people are also very friendly. Unless you like touristy places, this unspoiled place represents Italy at its best. The area is very mountainous and a hiker's paradise. Restaurants serve excellent food and at a very low price.Guest review byHannoUnited States - 10.0
A beautiful place nestled among the mountains.
A beautiful place nestled among the mountains. We went on a breathtaking 15km hike and white water rafting in the Pollino National Park. We would recommend both. There are way more options for food than we expected, however there are not many English speaking people/staff around but we managed! The weather was much cooler there than other places in Southern Italy in Summer, particularly in the National Park.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

The diffuso concept is atypical so be ready for the room, breakfast, check-in, gym to all be in different places in the city. Each of these areas we used was wonderful, But our room was a bit of a walk from the check-in area. It happened to be that the walk was worth the location of our room. The room was large and clean and we had full control of heat and air. Everything very, very comfortable and clean and new.Guest review byTimothyUnited States - 10.0

A last minute decision to stop a night here had us not wanting to leave, mainly because of the beautiful accommodation, food and people. We made the most of our short time here and walked down to the historic bridge ( devils bridge) amazing scenery and it was very peacful only us on the road and tracks. The town had a selection of restaurtants and we found a lovely spot to enjoy a beautiful meal and a fabulous bottle of wine. We wished we had more time to stay in Civiita however we had connections to make so moved on. I highly recommend visiting and staying at least 2 or 3 days and if you have a car exploring the area.Guest review byAnnieNew Zealand - 8.0

We didn't see much to be honest - the town is an hour from Pompeii - so a great stop after being or going to this famous historic archaeological site. Well worth a relaxing morning or afternoon walk. there are a few exciting things to do but we were en-route. However, the very narrow roads are exciting in themselves!Guest review byRogerUnited Kingdom - 4.0
Rotonda would have been a far better base for hiking.
Rotonda would have been a far better base for hiking. We wanted to be in nature in an antico borgo but nothing in Viggianello seemed to be open other than 1 x tiny bar, the pharmacy and 1 x local shop. Rotonda is very attractive indeed and extremely friendly - we spent all of our non-hiking time in this locale. There are even 2 x museums.Guest review byDanielleUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We strongly recommend Morano Calabro to any travelers who enjoy the ambiance of old village communities. The old Town in Morano Calabro is alive with friendly residents, little shops, local butcher, hair salons etc. We fell in love with the place. You can take the narrow twisty road to the Castello on the top of the hill but we enjoyed the walk. Enjoyed a 5 star lunch at restaurant L'Antico Borgo.Guest review byDerrickSouth Africa - 10.0

Castrovillari is central to exploring the Parco Nationale di Pollino, and is also close enough to make side trips down into the "toe of the boot" and see places like Tropea, Reggio Calabria, Cosenza, and Crotone.Guest review byPaulUnited States - 8.0

Morano Calabro is a very simple mountain village with steep roads and stairways leading to the Norman Castle at the top of the hill. The surrounding environment is spectacular especially the Pollino National Park. The church and abbey of San Bernadino is highly recommended.Guest review byalanwilliamrandellItaly
