Taormina was lively, buzzy and welcoming. Generally clean and lots of sites and facilities. We visited Catania and Saracusa and was also impressed with those as well. The smaller villages were less impresive and ocassionally quite dirty and full of litter.

It is a beautiful little mountain top village. Nice hike/walk down to Taormina or easy bus if you wish. Great place to relax. I would worry about it being even more overrun with tourists in peak season but it makes sense why. If you drive by car and are not comfortable with small, steep roads - take some anxiety meds and take your time!

A down-to-earth beach town with none of the glitz and glitter of Taormina. Nice enough beaches, crystal clear water and a few beach bars where you can eat. Perfect stay away from busy Taormina, with hourly bus-service. Ristorante Arco Rosso was our favourite restaurant.

Taormina is worth visiting. We were there early October. Beware it is very busy with tourists. I guess the Netflix series The White Lotus has had its impact on the town. There and hundreds of restaurants and shops to choose from. We did take an organised trip to Mount Etna that included a visit to a local honey business and the Alcantara gorge. Unfortunately we paid the price for an October visit. The weather was against us so snow and high winds meant our hike around Etna had to be curtailed. The rest of the organised trip to the honey business and the Alcantara gorge was a waste of time. I would recommend just visiting Mount Etna using the local bus service but check the weather first! We also visited Stromboli and Panarea as an organised trip. Again the trip was curtailed, this time because of rough seas making landing the boat on the 2 islands difficult. This was a shame as this was my favoured excursion. We did witness steam from The Stromboli crater but were unable to see the lava at night as planned as the sea state worsened and the trip had to be curtailed. We also tried to hike assisted with a hiking guide but the footpaths in Sicily are poorly marked and poorly maintained. But we did see wild boar. A bonus! We visited Ortigia (island next the Syracuse) accessed via a bridge. This was stunning and the local market in Syracuse was fun! We used the rail service to travel from Taormina to Syracuse. We walked down to the train station from our hotel and back up. The state of the steps look like they have been bombed! So if you choose to do this do wear decent footwear. All in all a good trip but hindered by the weather and unlike countries such as France and Spain Italians don’t appear to walk so if you are planning any hikes be prepared to get lost and watch out for the wild boar!

Alot of people do not speak english, and everything there including street sign are in ilalian. Had an excustion to the godfather on a hop on hop off bus(green) I had ordered from Get Your Guide and went 2 hours early and the direction they gave us was wrong and couldnt find the place for pick up in mountain. Had no wifi on my phone, even when i paid extra to get itWIFI on my phone. Tried to ask people but on one knew where to go. Traffic was terrible where the address was to pick up. So i ended up not making the excurion, and company is not giving me a refund. Also the rest RISTORANTE SABBIE D' ORO charged us $162.00(euro) for a 1 lobster. They stood over us until we order, couldnt speak english and the menu said 18 euros for a one lobster, thought that was a good price. Pressed us with extra stuff we did not want to order, because we could not understand them. Then we go to pay there system was down and couldnt take no visa or MC. Our bill was $350 eros. We had to go to atm machine and they charged us $75 to take money out of machine. BAD EXPERINCE!!!!!! I would suggest not to go there.

Letojanni is a charming coastal village located in Sicily, Italy, known for its stunning beaches and picturesque views of the Mediterranean Sea. My recent visit to Letojanni was nothing short of magical, offering a perfect blend of relaxation, culture, and culinary delights. Letojanni’s location, just a short distance from Taormina, makes it an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. Additionally, the locals were incredibly friendly and welcoming, providing a warm atmosphere that made me feel at home. The village's small size allows for leisurely strolls through charming streets filled with local shops and boutiques, perfect for picking up souvenirs.

    Quiet and quaint village.

Quiet and quaint village. The views are amazing, there are the basic shops like pharmacy and grocer in case you need something. The only downside is the frequency of the busses out of Castelmola. The first one is about 6.30am-7am to go to Taormina, and then the next one is 10am. Most shops open around 10am, except for the cafe in the piazza and the pharmacy, which open earlier. You can get anywhere in Castelmola on foot. There is also il sentiero dei Saraceni which takes you on foot to Taormina. It is a steep walk down so prepare comfortable shoes if you plan on taking this walk.
