Susa is what I'd call an authentic town.
Susa is what I'd call an authentic town. They haven't gone too far down the route of turning it into a tourist centre. We spent our time walking in the surrounding countryside and wandering through the narrow streets., which we enjoyed. We felt safe walking around Maybe not for everybody, especially people wanting to go to a lot of museums.Guest review byDouglasAustralia - 8.0

Plenty of restaurants and bars, many family run and same staff for many seasons. Some hotels have minibus service to slopes, a new thing for Relais but great service. Been going for years and great for a short or weeks trip.Guest review byalan - 10.0

Lovely, little village with lots to do and explore!
Lovely, little village with lots to do and explore! We visited in summer and rented mountain bikes for some downhill mountain biking which was amazing. We walked around town to explore the village which has lots of trees and parks, it is stunning and surrounded by the beautiful mountains. Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. Can highly recommend!Guest review byNicoleNew Zealand - 8.0

If you're looking for accommodation close to the railway line at Oulx - Residence du Commerce is for you. We just wheeled our bags across the road - easy! We walked around Oulx the afternoon we got there - looking at its sights. And as we didn't have a booking at any of the restaurants in Oulx, we shopped at the supermarket and rustled up dinner in one of the apartments we had - with great success! It was a comfortable overnight stay on our way to the ski fields.Guest review bySusieAustralia - 4.0

Although a lovely little town, the availability of taxis is very poor. When I came up from train station, the bus dropped me off at the town square, a nice man told me where to go & I had to walk with my luggage to Palace 1 as i could not find any taxi service & volunteers didn't know of any (I am 76 yrs. old & that was a major trek with luggage, if I had to go to Palace 2, I would have been in major discomfort). Return bus service from hotel to ski area was wonderful but was over at 5:15. Because of transportation & being sick, I did not eat much while there - I found a small grocery store & bought breakfast needs & did eat something at ski hill before returning for night but once back to hotel in evening did not go out as I did not know of transportation. I did find some on my last night but much too late (& expensive) to be useful. To be truthful, if I was feeling better I probably would have found other options, but in general not impressed with Sestriere. Another thing lacking is adequate wifi.Guest review byJOANNECanada - 8.0

Interesting border town with plenty of historical sites to visit. At the foothills of several scenic mountain roads which were obviously very popular with local cyclists. Several restaurants and pizza placesGuest review byLynnie DUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Lovely traditional village with a few lively bars.
Lovely traditional village with a few lively bars. Great access to Milky Way ski area and excellent value for money. Short transfer time from Turin airport. Pizza bar in village centre served tasty pizza slices and great price, always friendly staff there! Had a lovely meal at L'Ortiché, more expensive, but superb fine dining with good wine.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We visited in Winter - lovely view of the alps all around the town. The main attractions are the Sacre San Michele and the Roman Castillo are stunning and very worth visiting. We also enjoyed a walk around the old town, and also around the lake - stopping for a cocktail and to watch the sunset.Guest review byGregAustralia - 6.0
Bardonecchia is a ski resort in need of a lot of investment.
Bardonecchia is a ski resort in need of a lot of investment. The resort consists of only drag lifts and chair lifts (of which only one has a hood and none of which are heated). The chairs and drag lifts are very slow to get up the mountain and so you spand ages getting up to the slopes. At weekends the resort is full of children learning to ski which is fine. But they often fall over getting onto chair and drag lifts, further slowing up an already slow system. On top of all this the resort faces north so doesn't get any direct sun until about 13:00 which makes the resort very cold and icy, especially in the morning. The resort also claims to have 100km of pistes. I would really love to see evidence of this. I skied every run I could find on the Saturday (some multiple times) and SkiTracks said I covered 35km. So, Bardonecchia is a cheap resort, but what you get is not a great experience given the alternatives available nearbyGuest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom
