- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 2,243 reviewsGreat accommodation and a great experience, we can only recommend it. Traditionally furnished room where we had to make our own futon bed, traditionally as instructed, which was fun. The room overlooked the sea and also the beautiful garden that belongs to the accommodation, where the deer were running around in the morning. It also included a simple dinner and breakfast, which was nice. The communal showers and toilets were clean and there was also a fully equipped kitchen, vending machines, ice cream and a communal living room with everything you could think of (with space to work, board games, musical instruments, TV etc, all free to use). A great place even for those travelling alone. A great bonus is the traditional onsen, which you can book just for you. The owners are very nice and showed us everything on arrival and recommended places to visit, we were even greeted by Miku the cat. Thank you!Guest review byHanaCzech Republic
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 732 reviewsThe staff were warm and welcoming, the room, bathroom and onsen facilities were immaculate and the food was the highlight. This was one of the most serene places I’ve ever visited, I fell asleep hearing a little stream outside my room and a casual garden stroll in the walking trail close to the ryokan gave me a scenic close encounter with the local deer. Highly recommend booking your stay to include dinner and breakfast to experience the culinary tradition of the region.Guest review byAlyannaUnited States
- From US$621.52 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,532 reviewsGreat location, close to Miyajima toori and omotesando shopping street. One of the hiking routes that leads up to mt Misen was also not far (as well as the way to the ropeway). The hotel had a shuttle bus to and from the ferry terminal with a friendly driver - this was very valuable for us, as we did not have to carry our luggages through the crowded streets. The dinner was great with lots of local specialities that we could try out.Guest review byDoraHungary
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 346 reviewsExcellent hotel, very good quality dinner prepared by Chef Aiko Yamanaka. The staff is super attentive and very friendly. The onsen is great with one outside overlooking the O-Torii. Super recommended, if you plan to visit Miyajima be sure to book at least one night in this Hotel, you will never regret it. My congratulations to all the hotel staff. I fell in love with everything!!!Guest review byGuillermoArgentina
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 206 reviewsIt was really easy to find and conveniently located. The Japanese style room was really comfortable. The owner is so kind and friendly. She kept our bags for us so we could do some more exploring before catching the ferry back and gave us little Christmas gifts when we left which was a lovely gesture. One of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend.Guest review byCamillaUnited Kingdom

Staff went ABOVE and BEYOND; personally handwritten note during dinner, honeymoon gift, amazing service throughout at check-in, kaiseki dinner, japanese breakfast (superior even compared to other part of japan), calling a free shuttle for us to the ferry port. First time at miyajiama and i will be back.Guest review byAndyYUnited States

I could even see the torii from Miyajima. The location is also amazing, next to the ferry and streetcar from Hiroshima train station. Breakfast is good. The moment I got inside the room, I was thinking, should I stay for one more night?Guest review byQiDenmark

The main reasson to visit was the Itsukushima Shrine but there was plenty of other shrines and temples to visit. The ropeway to Mt, Misen was great. The hike down not so much (not a trail, mainly steps - hard on the knees.Guest review byDeanUnited States - 10

Miyajima was great for walking around and doing the ropeway to the top. A lot of little eateries and street food- good if you like seafood. Scenic with the giant Tori gate and shrines, woods, deer walking around. Miyajima was one of my favorite spots on our trip to Japan.Guest review byMarciaUnited States - 10

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.Guest review byDonnaUnited Kingdom
