- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 3,163 reviewsThe room was very clean and, as for the amenities, were fully provided. On the 6th floor it has the Japanese dai-yokujo (huge baths, devided by gender). Best location possible, as, once you arrive at Nara and get off the train, it's on the same level of the train station: you. can drop the luggages and start your sightseeing. It provides different restaurants, such as the Japanese Teppanyaki, where the ingredients were supreme, including the wagyu (tried this food exp).Guest review bySayakaItaly
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 658 reviewsA self-contained room with all the amenities located in a quiet street with a short pleasant walk to Nara Station and all the monuments. It was a great base for day tripping and sightseeing. I liked that you could leave the key at the reception during the day so it wouldn't be lost. The staff were very kind and helpful. The hotel also has a sweet souvenir shop in the lobby where you can buy locally made gifts, which was nice.Guest review byYaraAustralia
- From US$317.52 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 525 reviewsThis hotel is a wonderful traditional Japanese hotel. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. I enjoyed the common onsen for the guests. The location is wonderful and located on the main street. The staff go beyond their way to help the guests. The reception manager was so kind that he actually drove me to the train station, when I was not able to get a taxi due to Monday morning rush. Would highly recommend this hotel.Guest review bySmaranIndia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,272 reviewsThe location was much closer to JR Nara station than I expected. Easy to spot as well. They've got almost everything you can think of for a comfortable stay. They even have free tooth brush, which is very handy! The room was not that big but spacious enough to open our small-ish suitcase without any problem. The staffs are very attentive and kind.Guest review byNozomiJapan

- From US$136.46 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.8Good - What previous guests thought, 1,257 reviewsThe hotel has an old-fashioned design but still, it is very clean. Our room was clean as well and they offered nice facilities. The only minor is the location, we didn't understand that it was a bit further from Nara Center, approximately 10 minutes by car or 25 minutes by train.Guest review byangelaGreece

I didn’t check closing times of temples and it was hard to determine the last buses back from further out locations. I did end up having a nice evening walk along a riverside to find a train station to come back into town.Guest review byStephanieAustralia - 10.0

Tenri is not as well-known as Nara or Asuka, but the area is dotted with dozens of key-hole shaped kofun, ancient burial mounds. Some are accessible and many are how they have been for hundreds of years.Guest review byBernadetteJapan - 10.0

i liked the Kashihara Jingu and the visit to various burial places of former tenno. on my last day, i visited the Omiwa Jinja; there is an observation hill where you could watch the sunset over Kashihara city. walking around town however, you can notice the signs of declining population and abandoned shops. there are a few good ramen shops in the area if you know where to find them, like Saika Ramen, highly recommended for its spicy flavour.Guest review byGaryIndia - 10.0

Nara is beautiful.
Nara is beautiful. There are two UNESCO world heritage sites and lots of deer. If you are afraid of animals, I don't recommend it. The deer will follow you if you have food and they may try to take it from you if you hesitate or don't gently push them away. They are not, as a general rule, aggressive. A lot of tourists freak out and just throw their crackers. Don't do that. Stay calm. The deer don't want to hurt you, they just want a snack. They don't care for being pet either. Just snap your crackers (200 yen sold at different stands) into 3-4 pieces, hold out your hand flat and let them take it from you. Be aware of how many are around you. They will surround and nibble your clothing. I found this hilarious. I grew up with cows and they will pretty much do the same thing. Use your voice and be gentle. The one day bus pass is really useful. I wish I had more time in Nara.Guest review bySarahUnited States - 10.0
Nara Koen (park) is a beautiful place.
Nara Koen (park) is a beautiful place. Todaiji and Kasuga Kaisha is located nearby. The Sarusawa Ike (pond) behind the Nara Park leads to shopping place. One can spend whole day around Nara. - Beware of the deer, they might get a bit aggressive when offering food. - It gets crowded during on-season.Guest review byLopa
