- From US$365.63 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.0Good - What previous guests thought, 774 reviewsEverything was amazing! To start, the staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. The room was lovely and cosy with a beautiful river view as promised (during snow season this was especially impressive). It was nice to walk around the facilities comfortably in the provided yukata (Japanese loungewear). The included dinner and breakfast were delicious, nutritious, and generous (both were all-you-can-eat buffet style). Booking for the private onsen and other activities was easy from the front desk. The private onsen was incredible and just a short walk from the hotel. It's set in individual huts where two of the walls can be fully opened to the outside, in case you want the outdoor onsen experience. Late night table tennis back at the hotel was fun! The public onsen (within the hotel building) also had a beautiful view. Don't worry about setting up your futon bedding - the staff will have that ready for you when you come back from dinner :) It's worth arriving early (at check-in time) and taking advantage of all that this hotel has to offer.Guest review byChristineAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 237 reviewsBest hotel I stayed in my trip to Japan. Incredible. Very spacious and comfortable. Super clean. Big place that even has simple, but cool night entertainment. The dinner buffet was some of the best meals we had in Japan, great quality. Samegoes for breakfast. The onsen was also the best we stayed in Japan, with 5 pools. You have a river with a waterfall from the balcony of your room. Leave the window slighty open to sleep to the sound of it. Guests wear yukata and kimono at all times. Full of japanese people, not many foreign tourists. Great experience.Guest review byDavidPortugal
- From US$515.54 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 137 reviewsThe staff were super friendly and tried their utmost to make the stay wonderful. The meals were included and the dinner was simply fantastic..we ate everything and it was an extensive assortment of delicious treats! It was located within easy walking distance of the bus stop, which was only 40 minutes ride from the Nasushiobara Shinkansen station, so access was easy. We spent the next day doing walks and hikes further up the mountain which was easy to get to. The private onsen was nice, and the staff went out of their way to make our stay great.Guest review byPipAustralia
- From US$216.52 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very good - What previous guests thought, 204 reviewsstaff friendly and polite, I made the hotel reservation on the booking website, after completing the reservation I realized that the room was for smokers, I asked for a room change, they promptly moved me to a non-smoking room, The meal had a huge variety of food, the breakfast was also fantastic, I definitely want to stay there againGuest review byThayliJapan
- From US$134.26 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.4Good - What previous guests thought, 466 reviewsIt is actually a hotel that offers more than what it costs. I booked the room with river view, the room is spacious and clean. It have public onsen and private onsen but you need to arrive early in order to book the private onsen. The meal is delicious and they even offer free flow alchohol drink at dinner!Guest review byMeng HooiMalaysia
- From US$351.01 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,179 reviewsThe food options are great! The facility is old, and I don't really use the hotspring. But you won't regret if you came to enjoy the view, and the buffet style dinner and breakfast! The room is also huge and you can see the river from the balcony. There's also a store beside the hotel but it's not 24/7.Guest review byVanessaPhilippines
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 655 reviewsLocation and flair. We had a twin room in the newly renovated annex. We had the set dinner in the main restaurant. The hotel is beautiful, with colorful wood carvings, little Japanese gardens, surprising courtyards. Fantastic cooking. Try the Japanese breakfast.Guest review byLarissaAustria
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 878 reviewsPerfect reason to spend the night in Nikko. Hotel is just a few minutes walk from the temples. And the town is small enough to visit on foot. Onsen is wonderful, even get your own kimono to wear. After a day of sightseeing, onsen is exactly what you need.Guest review byHelenSpain

The Toshugo shrine was amazing and well worth the trip.
The Toshugo shrine was amazing and well worth the trip. If you travel on to Takayama I recommend seeing the one tenth scale model of the shrine complex which is almost unbelievable in its detail and precision. Nikko is quite a sleepy town and many restaurants shut very early so I recommend making a reservation. The Nikko pass is worth purchasing, we enjoyed a day sightseeing on the local buses and trains. We had an outstanding dinner at Global Table, located on the Main Street in Nikko, well worth booking this for an unforgettable experience with Chef Ishida.Guest review byJeffreyUnited Kingdom - 6.0
Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people.
Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people. The Emperor has a summer house here as it tends to be cooler in summer. It’s little known by westerners and therefore is not catered to westerners. Parts of Nasu are very beautiful and other parts are set up for families - eg the zoo and the Dairy farm. There are some lovely restaurants and places to visit here but you really need a car to do it.Guest review byDeltaBegaAustralia - 10
Our trip to Nikko was nothing short of magical.
Our trip to Nikko was nothing short of magical. The town is surrounded by some of the most beautiful forests and breathtaking waterfalls I’ve ever seen. Every corner feels like stepping into a postcard—lush, serene, and full of natural wonder. The town itself has such charm, with its cozy streets, warm hospitality, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down and simply enjoy the moment. We stayed for three nights, which gave us time to explore, but we truly wish we had stayed longer. There’s so much more to see and experience, and the beauty of the area leaves you wanting to return.Guest review byTracyUnited States - 10

The Nasu Kaido is a famous and really scenic road that goes from the lowlands of Nasu town all the way up to the Nasu mountains, and it's beautiful to drive up - if you have a car. The road is a two lane highway that (in Summer) is very busy and not intended for bicycle or pedestrian use when you get to the uphill portions of the road, so be sure to use a vehicle or public transportation if you want to go further up it. The public transportation options are present - you can take the Shinkansen to NasuShiobara Station, then take the bus to the Nasu Mountain Ropeway, then take the ropeway to the near top of one of the mountain peaks and hike from there. It's a good venture, though if you try it on the weekend, be sure to check when the last buses operate, or else you might have to take a taxi.Guest review byLeeUnited States - 8.0

We walked to the Togoshu Shrine; make sure you're prepared for uphill walks and a lot of stairs. The Main Street leading to the shrine was amazing. A ton of food vendors and restaurants. We took the bus to Kegon Falls. The ride was spectacular through the mountains and the village at the top was a pleasant surprise.Guest review byAnonymous
