- From US$147.53 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.3Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,832 reviewsIt is located in not a touristic district but it was very interesting for me to discover the local culture here. I highly recommend the restaurant Genkimaru nearby. The room itself was small but very comfortable with all the famous Japanese facilities. It was a little bit expensive for me but it's definitely a value for money. There was an origami in my room :) The Komagome metro is in 5 minutes walk, not very far going to the main touristic places such as Shibuya or Shinjuku.Guest review bySergeiSpain
- From US$182.72 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 1,294 reviewsLocation at yamanote line. It’s a bit farther away from shinjuku / ginza tourist areas but otsuka station had its own peace away from the city, while still having large staple stores right by the station (eg donki, Uniqlo, food). The area looks like a new development, mix of modern buildings. Room is very spacious for Japanese standards. Design well thought out, unique and playfulGuest review byRachelCanada

Tokyo is an interesting City, busy though.
Tokyo is an interesting City, busy though. We found Tokyo to be dirty compared to other Cities we visited. The public transport system was exceptional, but this is also true of other cities we visited. The Tokyo Skytree was especially good and most certainly worth a visitGuest review byKeith_Cecily BevenAustralia - 10.0
Love this neighbourhood.
Love this neighbourhood. I lived in Japan for several years, 2 decades ago, and I have gone back a few times for a visit. First time for me to be in Tachikawa. It has great vibe, a bit of hustle bustle, but not crowded and suffocating like Shinjuku or Shibuya. Lots of shops and cheap restaurants. Not touristy at all and you can observe locals doing their everyday business if that is your thing.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

Side city of tokyo not crowded by foreign tourists, Short distance from place with great nature like Hachioji castle ruins, mount takao and sagamiko. Also good shopping experience in downtown and neighboring cities.Guest review byIriyaaMalaysia - 10.0

Fuchu was a wonderful town to stay in on the outskirts of Tokyo. It has a slower, more relaxed atmosphere than central tokyo. The people were friendly and there was plenty to do and see. The tree lined main street leading to the temple was beautiful. And there were some local parks that were nice to walk to.Guest review bymitchUnited States - 10.0

Machida has everything you need for shopping plus the Odakyu Line into Shinjuku or the Yokohama Line into Yokohama if you need to hit the big time. Still comoared to most North American towns, Westerners will think Machida is HUUUUGE and super busy. For Kanto region I'd saw it's a hub for Kanagawa but manageable. Food choices at and around the station are excellent. Hotels are way cheaper than in central Tokyo yet you are only 30 to 60 mins on any train to wherever you need to go. Direct buses from Narita and Henda airports as well so no need to deal with hauling luggage on trains. Or just takyubin (courier) luggage to Mahcida from airport.Guest review byBDonutCanada - 10.0
The city is literally amazing.
The city is literally amazing. Everything you could want is right there in your hotel or walking distance. Great cafes, izakayas, shopping, exploring-literally everything. Not as busy as some areas in Tokyo, and I fell in love. Will be back soon.Guest review byChristopherUnited States - 8.0
The island is lovely and has many outdoor activities.
The island is lovely and has many outdoor activities. But you will likely need to rent a car to reach some of the more remote areas easily. There are buses and taxis, but you may have to wait quite a bit of time. Many of the restaurants will close during the afternoon and early evening, so be sure to have some snacks prepared or stay in a place with a kitchen.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Kichijoji is a great area in the western suburbs of Tokyo.
Kichijoji is a great area in the western suburbs of Tokyo. We explored the beautiful Inokashira Park and other points further west such as Chofu and Koganei. We ate at a great izakaya that specialises in squid called Totomaro. There's plenty of shopping, including Don Quijote and Yuzawaya. Kichijoji is on the Chuo line which connects with Shinjuku and Tokyo stations. It's also really well serviced with buses.Guest review byDeborahAustralia - 10.0
Clean, lots to do and see. People were friendly.
Clean, lots to do and see. People were friendly. No one refused if asked questions or help. I really liked the Shinjuku area where I stayed. Getting around was not had, because of the helpfulness of the people.Guest review byJerryUnited States - 10.0

I went to Tachikawa for a concert at Tachikawa Stage Garden and it was my very first time visiting there. Life in Tachikawa seems to be a bit more laid-back than central Tokyo even though it's a big city as well. Meaning, you get to enjoy the convience and entertainment of what big cities offer, but it's a bit less crowded and less chaotic. Showa Kinen National Park is a great place. I spent two afternoons there to clear my head and connect with nature. Highly recommend. I'll definately be back for the unexplored spots such as the art museums and many eateries.Guest review byPei HsuanUnited Kingdom
