The hanok is well kept and clean, and there is a lot of attention to detail. For example, the materials of the rooms and the bedding were high quality cotton and the name of the hanok was embroidered on it. The location is also fairly convenient as it's near the major train station and food is walking distance. You are also able to borrow a bicycle for free, although I didn't have time to try it. Gwangju is the 6th largest city in Korea. There’s plenty to do and see, but is definitely at least a weekend trip. However, there is something for everybody — whether you’re into hiking, history, shopping, or eating. Gwangju is also pretty spread out depending on what you want to do/see so plan accordingly and make note of where things are! I stayed in Gwangju for a week primarily to do an event with the world famous Koran Randonneur Cycling Club. A 600k Gwangju-Busan-Gwangju. The ride started near City Hotel which is also located near the bike paths along the river. While in Gwangju I visited the very excellent Gwangju Museum of Art and the Cemetery. Gwangju publicises itself as an arts and culture centre. It has a fantastic national museum and an interesting modern art museum. A Famous K-pop star BTS J Hope) comes from there and there is a cool area with cool shops and restaurants. I would have stayed a couple more days to see some more things but my accommodation wasn't to my liking and I moved on.
