We had a warm welcome with tea/coffee offered upon arrival. During the stay the host was very approachable for any questions we had. It’s conveniently located and walking distance to the entrance of Adams Peak. Nice breakfast is served, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants in the neighbourhood. Incredible stay! Peaceful in front of the valley and tea plantations ! We just stayed 2 nights and was close enough to town only 10 min walking or 5 min tuktuk and you can find easily on pickme or the host can help you! We had a fantastic tuktuk driver! Superbe view for sunset sunrise and breakfast! We took the suite to be more cosy as nuwara can be cold/rainy! The room has AC, very well furnished good bathroom, very good breakfast, one of the best of our trip in srilanka! And most importantly incredible staff, very nice, welcoming warm and helpful! Thank you!!

We really enjoyed our stay here, it felt like staying in a cozy home. After moving from hotel to hotel, it felt so nice to come into a warm and comfortable home with a cozy bed. And I liked that dinner and breakfast takes place at a big family table with other guests, once again it felt cozy. But above all, I have to give credit to the incredible service we received. I arrived with a very bad cold, slight fever, etc. Soon after we arrived and he saw I was sick, Madhavan came to our room with a steaming bowl with ginger and lime leaves and some ayurvedic medicine to help with my congestion. He repeated the same action twice more during our stay, and was so so kind, bringing me tea constantly, asking how I was, etc. All the employees at the hotel were above and beyond with their service and attention, and Madhavan's kindness with me will be remembered long after our trip. Oh - and they have a gorgeous swing in the garden where you can lounge about and read on. If you're tired of staying in impersonal hostals and are looking for a cozy stay in a big comfortable house, look no further :)

We had a truly wonderful stay at Croft Cottage! The property is a stunning British-style 3-storey villa, beautifully designed and immaculately maintained. The location is excellent, making it both peaceful and convenient. The cottage has lovely common areas that make it feel warm and inviting, perfect for relaxing together. All facilities are top-notch, thoughtfully provided, and everything worked seamlessly. A special mention and heartfelt thanks to Taranga, the housekeeper, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable in every way.     this hotel is must see if you are travelling in Nuwara-Eliya. Heritage building with a great history, beautifull interiors, old photos in holls, hidden bar rooms etc... we spent couple of hours to explore the hotel. Stuff is very friendly and one of manager even made a small excursion for us while we were waiting. Welcome hot soup was what we needed cz at night is quite chilly outside. The restaurant was pretty delisious and our servant Antony made our dinner even better.

    Worth every penny, heritage building is spiced up with modern comfort, even simply staying within the hotel compound counts as sightseeing. Service easily meets international 5-star standards, and the surrounding flower and tea gardens, mighty firs, and hills bathing in clouds will make you feel disconnected from the current world reality. On the other hand, if you need to connect, their wifi works great.

    We are an older couple that stayed for 4 nights. This was the best hotel we had stayed at, the staff where very pleasant and eager to help with anything that would make our stay a good one. Not only was it clean the food served at breakfast and dinner was the best we had had whilst in Sri Lanka. We would use this hotel again if our age allows us to visit Sri Lanka again.

    Besides doing the incredibly beautiful hike to Adams Peak, you can hire a tuktuk driver to guide you to Morey's Waterfall. the best waterfall we got to hike to in Sri lanka, challenging 1 hour hike but you'll get to stroll thru lush tea plantations and walk along side Lake Morey.

    Maskeliya is a market town which could be lot more .The hilly terrain is a planners dream. I imagine the buildings painted pastal pink and yellow, flower pots hanging from the eves, it could be a destination rather than a quick stop to buy supplies on the way to elsewhere as is now.

    If you are into budget travel and want a genuine local experience, NanuOya is a good town to visit. It’s very close to the main tourist town Nuwara Eliya (approx 9km away) and has buses heading there every 20mins. You can also get there by train. The locals are very helpful and kind. You get a few places to eat food like South Indian dishes and koththu and a few places to buy liquor from. There are two waterfalls and the larger, wider one located inside the Glassough tea estate is a place where you can bathe in on a sunny day. It’s a lovely little town surrounded by tea estates!

    The location is off-the-beaten track a bit if that’s what you like. Personally coming from England I didn’t need to see Nuwara Elyia (little England), little point when I live in England! I enjoyed being in the middle of nowhere and in a peaceful environment before hitting the city of Kandy.

    Nuwara Eliya’s weather is quite different from most of Sri Lanka due to its high elevation. Unlike the tropical heat in the lowlands, it has a cool, misty, and unpredictable climate. Temperatures can drop below 10°C at night, and rain showers are common even during sunny days. Before traveling, it’s best to: Check the weather forecast for rain, fog, or sudden temperature drops. Pack warm clothing, as evenings and mornings can be chilly. Carry an umbrella or light raincoat, since showers are frequent. Plan outdoor activities (like visiting tea estates, Horton Plains, or Gregory Lake) for clearer parts of the day. “We visited on rainy days, which made it impossible to see the main attractions, as most of the time it was foggy.”

    Do not climb on Saturdays as you will most probably not be able to reach the top. It was over-crowded and the path is narrow the last 500 meters. Got stuck in one spot for 45 minutes and decided to turn around. Still got amazing views though and the experience of local pilgrimage which was a privilege!
